Initially published in 1970, this edition 1977, it gives a very different perspective on costuming and stage presentations to my experience. This is partly because of the way that everything has changed in the intervening decades, but also because there seems to be a cultural difference between the British and Australian schools as to the types of plays that are put on (there is a huge emphasis on historicals, which doesn't fit with my memories, even from the early 80s).

There is a heavy emphasis on the use of 'marvin medium', which I had never heard of before, and now have great desire to experiment with. And there is also a good focus on 'what will look good under lights', which I applaud, although I haven't found it particularly useful at this point.
