This enchanting fairy tale, Shadow and Friends Meet Mr. Rabbit, brings forth children's vivid imaginations as they read about the adventures of Shadow and her friends meeting Mr. Rabbit and his family. Children learn how squirrels and rabbits react and play together in real life, and in fairy tale life in a game of Hopscotch. Mr. and Mrs. Rabbit speak, and Baby Rabbit has a pacifier in his mouth that children will laugh and find enchanting. The rabbits are "wacky" rabbits as they are not the typical looking bunny rabbits, since they are dressed and have fun expressions on their faces. More fun ensues as they decorate eggs for Easter and two baby chicks stop by to say hello. As this children's picture book is Christian themed, children learn about Jesus and how Easter came about in real life, near the end of the story, and in a manner that young children will understand. A young child knows about death from an early age and reading to or with them about the greatest story ever told is loving and heartwarming. Children learn that we will see our loved ones again, and Easter means that there is life after we die, and that death is not scary at all.
This title was written for only kids but it has been seen in the last few months for all ages readers prefer and preserve for further use. Variety of easter eggs to decorate by own choices. Mr. Rabbit now becomes a friend of all children. I highly recommend for five stars.
Shadow and Friends Meet Mr. Rabbit is a darling, well-crafted example of prose I’d encourage my grandchildren to read during these troubled times of disillusionment and uncertainty. This children’s story promotes harmony between different cultures, using animals as the players while learning how faith in a High Power can help ease fear of death.
The awesomely talented Ms. Mary L. Schmidt, writing under pen name S. Raymond, with her husband Michael (pen name A. Jackson), have created a series of children’s stories (Shadow and Friends) that not only entertains our next generation, but reveals spiritual lessons that have become sadly lacking in certain, current social situations, and this reader is now a devoted fan.
Their latest Shadow and Friends Meet Mr. Rabbit quickly found its way into my heart, not only because of the endearing content, but for poignant personal reasons having to do with what happens in the afterlife – namely, when a spirit goes to Jesus when the mortal body’s work is at end.
The story revolves around one of the holiest holidays supported by Christian faith – Easter Sunday - and the resurrection of Jesus. Although there are marvelous messages between the adorable characters within, learning simple adventures like hopscotch and coloring Easter eggs with new friends in the animal kingdom will make a child giggle.
The pictures are vividly portrayed in beautiful colors, and the personality of each character rings true through the media of the excellent, artistic illustration, and gave me ‘Aww, they are so sweet,” moments of joy.
I highly recommend this story and award 5 golden stars for originality, content, illustration, and its true Christian values, which I readily support. Such a heartfelt read!
This picture book works hard to do lots of different things including entertain, educate and celebrate Easter – all very laudable. It’s a useful resource for parents or carers wishing to support their children’s learning and demonstrates how asking questions helps children to interact with the story. I love the way the author introduces young children to the traditional game of hopscotch through the characters. It’s an important reminder to share experiences that enrich childhood.
Shadow and Friends Meet Mr. Rabbit' written and illustrated in vivid colours, by Mary L Schmidt (Author), S Jackson, and (Author), A Raymond (Author) is a magical storybook for children. It shows how squirrels and rabbits can react and play together. It also tells the story of Easter. I recommend the book to all young children as they can learn many values and morals from it.
The board book is colorful and bright with large words.
Forest animals—rabbit and squirrel meet and one thing leads to another until the true story of Easter is revealed. Sin is explained. Jesus died on the cross and rose again. He is alive. The writer is a professing catholic, so the book has that bent. I think you will like this story.
This is a cute little story about Shadow and his rabbit friends on Easter. They hunt for Easter eggs and learn about Jesus dying for our sins in an easy to understand way. The images are delightful and engaging for kids of all ages!
Here’s one of my favorite God centered children’s books that illustrates faith in its simplest form. Cookie Bunny, clothed as a rabbit and who as a young girl evokes memories of Easter. This book depicts a wonderful journey that triggers the child’s imagination and journey of the crucifixion of Jesus and invites the child to the Christian way and life.
