J.L Willow does it again! I highly recommend this short story collection to teens and adults who enjoy horror fiction. Fans of Stephen King, particularly his “Different Seasons” collection of novellas will enjoy this spooky and cleverly crafted book. Hope J.L. Willow writes another one soon. Five stars!

This collection seems to me like the pioneer of a new type of book. Everything about it is so unique and captivating (formatting, trim size, cover, etc.) The stories are distinct yet similar enough to present a cohesive collection. AWS is the perfect balance; it's haunting in the moment but it won't give you any terrible nightmares, which I enjoy. I especially loved The Book Club, Children of Shadows, and A Weighted Soul.

When I tell you I finished this book fast, I finished it in under 24 hours! I was so hooked on each story, and as each tale came across, it brought about more fear, uneasiness, and plot twists. I loved every moment of reading this book. I highly suggest reading this if you love a book that really makes you think!

Scary but so good!

J.L. Willow has done it again. She's a talented writer who weaves a tale in a most unexpected way. I knew the stories would scare me, so I could only read during daylight hours. That was a wise choice to avoid nightmares!

J.L. Willow’s words will make you second guess every sight, smell, and sound when darkness falls. Brilliantly crafted works that scared me half to death, and truly a compelling piece.

The message behind this collection of short stories really resonated with me. It is a series of horror/sci-fi fiction stories that captivates the reader, but it is also so much more than that. It is a reminder to embrace fear and to not let it control you. The inevitable will happen whether you want it to or not, so there isn’t a point in worrying. And sometimes worrying or fear is what cause what you think of as “the inevitable” to happen, but it might have never occurred if you didn’t struggle to grasp the unknown. Each story was so unique but each was strung together with this message. I read this all in one sitting, really well done!

This is the first book I've read by this author and I was very impressed. I love the way she spun her words of horror into wonderful tales which I had to devour in one sitting. I look forward to seeing more books from her.

I love this book.

Each story has their own twist that makes it dark and mysterious.

My favorite story is Children of Shadows.

10 out of 10 would recommend to anyone who likes horror and twisted tales (like the titles says).
