If you are considering adoption, or are already headed down that path, this book of stories, scriptures, and prayers will inspire and encourage you along the way.
Author Hillary Froning opens her heart and shares the story of how she and her husband, Rich Froning, adopted three precious children. Like talking to a close friend, Blessed by Adoption features short essays, Bible verses, and prayers that will move you and comfort you on your path to adoption. The book also features reflections to help you process your thoughts and feelings, as well as writing space for journaling about your adoption journey.
Blessed by Adoption is written as an interactive journal/devotional from one adoptive mother to another. The format is pretty much: short description on the author’s experience with one or more areas of adoption, then something specific to pray for, then a journal entry for you to write about what you’re experiencing/thinking/praying/hoping. It’s very much so targeted for adoptive moms through the actual process of adoption. I gained so much from this devotional and would recommend it to any prospective adoptive mom who loved the Lord. All the stars and hearts for this 🤍🤍🤍
This book gave an insight to adoption with scripture guiding each section. My favorite moment in the book was that God calls us to adopt because he was also adopted! Adoption should never be shameful for adoptive parents, birth parents, or the children!
Loved this book. Very simply written and very encouraging for anyone considering adoption. I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 because there was some not-so-great theology sprinkled in. For example, in the 2nd to last chapter about adoption not being a plan B, she said, "I just don't believe God planned for their (her kids') birth mothers to find themselves in a situation that wouldn't allow them to raise their babies the way they wanted. The God I know doesn't plan for broken families or broken hearts. I think the world just gets there all by itself." I understand what she's saying and I am sympathetic, but I don't love how comments like that undermine the sovereignty of God. Other than that, Excellent! Must read for prospective adoptive parents.
Such a supporting and encouraging read to anyone on a parenthood journey
We are on a four years and counting journey to parenthood. Our adoption process has been going for 2 years and has been full of twists and turns. 2.5 months ago we were matched with our amazing miracle child and yet we are still waiting on final legal paperwork to be in place so we have not yet been allowed to meet him and take him home. This book gave me hope and light in the face of uncertainty and darkness. I lean more into my faith because of it and you. Thank you for sharing your beautiful story with the world and giving us all hope to keep going. God bless your beautiful family 💛
