The Miracles: Understanding What Jesus Did

Rate this book
Miracles. Unless you've actually witnessed one, it may be hard to believe that they exist. Yet we have eyewitness accounts from the Bible of thirty-five miracles that occurred at the hand of Jesus, with the mention that there were countless more never recorded. Jesus's miracles are central to understanding who He is because they are inextricably woven into His life and ministry. From faith-based Christians to hardcore skeptics, all will gain insights into the evidence of Jesus's miracles and why He performed them. You will clearly see that Jesus's acts of supernatural power were purposeful and were marks of His majesty and revealers of His person. Citing Scripture and other supporting sources, Gary Inrig creatively walks you through fourteen biblical miracles to assure you not only that Jesus was a successful miracle worker but that He is exactly who He claimed to be.
Gary Inrig also wrote The Understanding What Jesus Meant , a popular book now celebrating its 30th anniversary.

Educational, truly exceptional. This book was exactly what I was looking for. It revealed more about Jesus’ miracles than I have found in other resources.

The word miracle is often used to describe an extraordinary, unexpected event, a special grace that is an answer to prayer. And a great blessing for the ones receiving them.

In the Introduction, Gary Inrig explains that miracles in the Bible are very diverse, but have certain qualities in common. He says, “Christians believe that because God exists as Lord of creation, miracles are both possible and actual.” For me, his statement is true. I believe what is recorded in the Bible.

Did you know that the New Testament records at least thirty-five miracles performed by the Lord Jesus, with most recorded in more than one gospel. Gary Inrig breaks these miracles down into three categories: nature miracles; healing miracles; and exorcism or the expulsion of demonic beings from oppressed and victimized people. Combined, these miracles bear witness to the authority of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ over the realms of nature, of human suffering, and of supernatural beings.

I love to read Bible-based books because of the knowledge I gain from doing so. This book served its purpose. I have a greater understanding of the miracles Jesus did during his earthly ministry. Readers will discover that His miracles had purposes linked to His mission and His message, with five key points of significance.

The Conclusion at the end of the book reaffirms that miracles were undeniably a central part of Jesus’ ministry. This book filled me with hope and encouragement. Miracles have not gone away, they are still available today. Praise the Lord!

Christians and non-Christians alike will benefit from reading this book. It’s well written and easy to understand. I received the book through Our Daily Bread Publishing, and is available in East Print format which is an added bonus.

This is probably one of my favorite Bible study books. It takes a close look at several of Jesus' miracles, tying them together with a common thread. The author does a great job of interweaving his history knowledge and personal experiences with the lessons to be learned from each of the miracles included, and I liked that the book included the Scriptures being studied. That author demonstrates a lot of theological insight and pointed out details from Jesus' life and miracles that I'd never noticed before, in spite of having read the gospels several times. I look forward to reading more spiritually uplifting and instructive books by this author!

While discussing the miracles he emphasized that Jesus wasn’t trying to put on a show but heal a broken world. The miracles proved his identity. It acknowledged that some miracles happened on sabbath to show that now he came we’re no longer saved by law but grace
