Robin Kahn: Runaway Girls

Rate this book
Inspired by a 1917 notice of two teenage girls who had run away from their homes, a poet and an artist imagine below the surface of the words: Runaway Girls. Resembling an old fashioned scrapbook, their collaboration attempts to run with the girls rather than to pin them down into a certain narrative of why or when, the text and images deliberately echoing the haunting unkowability of the girls and their desires. Robin Kahn is an internationally known artist creating work for solo and group exhibitions, site-specific installations, and collaborations dedicated to the creation of public art projects. Sarah Blake is a poet who was the recipient of the Academy of American Poets Award in 1996. Her poems have appeared in the Three Penny Review, The Harvard Review, The Womens Review of Books, and elsewhere. Runaway Girls is the result of Kahn and Blake's collaboration over many months. This incredibly beautiful work is completely handmade. A gem for collectors.
