~A Literary Escape: Mike Moreland was an innocent man who had been at the wrong place at the wrong time. Now he was stuck in an interrogation room at the police station. He could swear he had been through all of this before. As he comes to the realization that he is stuck in a “Groundhog Day” kind of loop he does everything he can to try to break the cycle. Anything to just get out of that room, it was driving him crazy being stuck in there for so long. Drive to the edge of sanity he makes a desperate break and manages to run out of the police station only to be hit by a bus. This then cuts to a librarian shelving a copy of a horror anthology book called “Cabin Fever” and not noticing the blood seeping out of the pages.

A college student, home for winter break, gets snowed in with her family.
She never told them anything about her recurring nightmare.
This is one blizzard no one will ever forget…
~Snowbound: Mandy leaves an abusive boyfriend and goes to a mountain cabin by herself. Even though she knows the snow is coming she stays, telling herself it was the first time she had to rely on only herself. Her boyfriend swore she would pay for leaving him. Scared, she has to pull through or he will win, she does what she can to survive but as the weather worsens she hears him with every sound. She waits too long to get out of the cabin so it gets worse for her. The snow is past the windows, her family and friends have no idea where she is so nobody worries.
As she lay dying her last thought was of her mother, so even though she could have used the last of her cell phone battery to call for help she texts her boyfriend.
~Death Shall Find You: A deserted house. A graveyard. A journal. Combined, they become the most harrowing summer of Ryland Liddell’s life. Once again, we have another great Thrill of the Hunt Anthology. This is one anthology I love and can rely on to be full of great stories that I can’t put down.
Cabin Fever offers a variety of stories by very different authors who all touch on something different in the Horror realm involving cabins and cabin fever. In our pandemic world, many of these stories are a bit easier to relate to than they may have been previously.
There are a few stories I didn’t love as much as others, but I enjoyed the majority of them. The very first story was great and left me wanting to know more, and I’m really hoping the author of that particular story uses that story as a jumping point.
One of the things I love about this book is there were quite a few new to me authors that I have now discovered and can look into further after enjoying their stories.
If you are looking for something good to read that will keep you guessing, The Thrill of the Hunt Anthology: Cabin Fever may be just what you need.
