Titus Black #6

Honorable Lies

Rate this book
The best lies often contain the truth.

When a terrorist organization claims responsibility for an attack on a cruise ship in the Caribbean, the victims seem random. But things aren’t always as they seem.

Asked to investigate quietly, Titus Black and the Firestorm team stir up a hornets nest within the U.S. government that threatens to expose some high-level officials. With Black and fellow agent Christina Shields in imminent danger, they find themselves embroiled in a global conspiracy with a new emerging threat, this time orchestrated to take place on American soil and more deadlier than before.

THE FIRST SIGNS that I might like writing -- and that I might be slightly competitive -- appeared when my year two (or first grade) teacher, Mrs. Holland, asked my class to write and illustrate our day. Mine read like this: “The Red team beat the Blue team, 1 to nil. And I won.” The next 47 entries covered my exploits on the soccer pitch while growing up in Ipswich, England.

In South Carolina as a teenager, my dad told me that I could get paid to watch sports provided I could write about it. Sounded easy enough and by the time I was 16, I landed a job at my town’s daily newspaper and had a column on Major League Baseball players from our area. I also covered my first riot there at a sporting event -- and it’s safe to say I was smitten with journalism.

After graduating from one of the best journalism schools in the country, I took a job as a sports editor in South Georgia and learned firsthand about the passion of high school sports in rural America. I thought I knew before, but I didn’t. This was another world.

I also had the opportunity to cover major sporting events like the Olympic Games, the World Series, the Super Bowl, and the Final Four. It was a thrill!

But nothing was as thrilling to me as uncovering the truth in investigative assignments. I once broke a story about a prominent southern football team’s NCAA violation -- and found out the violating coach had committed suicide only a few months earlier. The story won a national writing award and stoked my desire to write about these issues. It made me realize that the sports world was just another fantastic backdrop for drama.

After writing non-fiction books with athletes, for athletes, and ghost writing for many others, I decided to enter the world of fiction writing. It had been something I wanted to do but never found the time. So, I made the time--and had a blast in the process.

I’m not out to become the next Faulkner or Hemingway -- I’m just out to tell a good story. I hope you enjoy reading them as much as I enjoy writing them!

This was one unbelievable story. A terrorist threat on a Cruise ship. The entire gang once together again, with no choice put to help solve the problem. I was completely engrossed with the plot. This is a definite hold your breath kind of book until the end.

Book Review - In RJ Patterson’s “Honorable Lies” black ops operator Titus Black and fellow operative Christina Shields are in imminent danger and find themselves embroiled in a global conspiracy orchestrated to take place on American soil and more deadlier than ever before. A high energy action ‘quickie’ that was not only a fast read but just as good as it was fast. Patterson tells another - number six - Titus Black tale that keeps readers on the edge of their seats and wondering on every sentence. Although the story had a high terrorists body count, the scenario was credible enough to believe and the dialogue light enough to understand and enjoy. Patterson is also to be commended on his sound character development. Good guys, bad guys, and those in between were all solid. Again, another quick but good action thriller read.

Together again—Black, Shields, Jana Shadid, Blunt, Hawk and Alex! Black and Shields are tasked with rescuing a girl, Campbell Morgan, in Afghanistan which resulted in a successful rescue. But before they could relax Blunt informed them of a terrorist attack on a cruise ship in the Bahamas, leaving many dead including the Secretary of State, and from there things go from bad to worse. But is the Secretary of State the intended target? There are several characters in this story that could have connections to the cruise ship attack and the terrorists responsible including a CIA agent and a Mossad operative. Trying to sort it all out makes for a super interesting story that kept me guessing throughout. And don’t forget about Campbell Morgan—a real twist in this story. As usual the main characters get into all kinds of trouble. Blunt gets arrested, several of the above characters are fighting for their lives, Black and Shields are trying to find out who a rogue Mossad operative is that is exposing deep cover agents, and a “sleeper cell” is infiltrating the U.S. bent on killing as many Americans as they can. Just another day at the office for the Firestorm team! Read and enjoy!!

Honorable Lies. R.J. Patterson

Firestone operators Titus Black and his partner Christina Shields are members of a very clandestine organization that resolve problems most government agencies cannot. A new terrorist group is creating havoc. They have claimed credit for the bombing of a cruise ship in the Mediterranean that killed the U.S. Secretary of State. Was she the real target or was it the Mossad agent who was killed. Actually he survived and later contacts JD Blunt the director and founder of Firestone. There is a traitor in America leaking information which identifies CIA operatives working undercover. The body count is rising and a major threat of a terrorist attack in America has been discovered. Who is the person who has access to this type of highly classified. Information? This is an extremely fast paced and credible scenario. An excellent read!! Enjoyed immensely!!

HONORABLE. LIES...R J Patterson
Black and Christina at a Buddhist monastery guards patrolling, how to get a young girl with a hefty trust fund out, having money to get out of trouble, or was she a thrill seeker. There was more to this, then when Blunt gave them the assignment.
Cruise ship in the Bahamas with the Secretary of State and others killed in a planted bomb. What was behind it, or was it a cleverly disguised for the real target, and planned meetings.one was with a Mossad agent and a CIA on the ship. Firestone works in the shadows, and Black has more questions than answers was she the main target, or the meeting.
A good flowing plot, two assignment to figure out the truth, and the connection. Like Black and Shields role and how they handle the assignment.

A new terrorist group have claimed credit for the bombing of a cruise ship in the Mediterranean that killed the U.S. Secretary of State. Was she the intended target or was someone else the target? Titus Black and his partner Christina Shields are sent out to find the truth of what happened. They suspect a traitor in America leaking information which identifies CIA operatives working undercover. Lots of action and suspense trying to find out who is the traitor. The book keeps you reading to find out what and who all are involve. Great Book.

Action and intrigue packed Titus Black thriller!

Titus Black and the Firestorm team are on the hunt for the party responsible for a cruise ship terrorist attack. As is always the case with the Titus Black thrillers, this one is action packed and filled with enough misdirection it would make David Copperfield jealous. The unpredictability in these stories is what keeps me coming back for more with each new release. I received an Advance Reader Copy and chose to provide this review.

The best thing about Honorable Lies is the lead characters name, Titus Black. Black needs to be made a more engrossing character who seems to be more interested in comical repartee than anything else.
Editing was awful. Character names were incorrectly placed in some scenes, English language was butchered in some places and some sentences looked like they were written by some internet scam artist from a Far East nation. But, it was a quick read.

A fantastic thriller series

As Firestorm only seems to deal with intense and suspenseful missions, this one is a bit more complicated than usual. Will they be able to figure out what is going on in time? You'll have to read this to find out!
I would definitely recommend this book, series, and outstanding author.

An excellent well written thriller with a great storyline and a fantastic cast of supporting characters. Brady Hawk is at his best with plenty of action and excitement. Short chapters and fast moving action make this read a real page turner. Very enjoyable read and highly recommended.
