Horrifyingly Perfect

Let me preface this by saying that I’m not usually a horror fan. I prefer my stories with a little less gore and a happy ending. Everyone likes the good guy, right?

Then I read this. It’s almost a romance novel told through a villain’s perspective. You want to hate the main character. I wanted to hate the main character. To be honest, I was only continuing to read the story to see the obvious justice that was about to be served.

Then the plot twist....

I can’t say anymore without spoilers. If you liked Natural Born Killers then you’ll love this book!

I enjoyed this book because it was a short read and it was a bit comical. It didn't waste unnecessary time and drag for no reason. This is the second book that I have read by this author and I would definitely read a third. I really give this book a 3.75. I would recommend reading it and seeing where it takes you.

Following the life of a serial killer who details his past, his reasoning and his motivation.
Talking to a therapist who can't really help him, he let's down his guard and explains how he got to this point.

A deep psychological read with twists you could never guess and content that definitely tickled my fancy.
Brilliant for fans of the disturbed and the dark with the writer giving this every advantage.
A thrilling read with the right amount of suspense, gore and intrigue to keep the reader in a constant thought tornado.

After the first few chapters, I was hooked.

The story reads well and is very engaging. There were many times I thought, ha! that one got one they deserved! That’s because Carpenter does his job well.

The first person, conversational point of view pulls you in and, like watching a train wreck, you just can’t look away. I felt for the main character who, despite what he does, is very complex.

The ending of the book has much the same that movies like Shutter Island or The Sixth Sense have in the end. They leave the reader questioning where reality and fantasy divide. In Memoirs of a Crazed Mind, I don’t think they do, and that is what makes this a great story!

WOW! I AM BLOWN AWAY! Reading Memoirs of a Crazed Mind is like watching a train wreck; you know what’s going to happen but you just can’t seem to look away. Harry Carpenter spins a twisted tale of a serial killer in conversations with his therapist. You follow along as he tells you about the when, how and why he commits these murders that, in his crazed mind, make perfect sense. Unfortunately, I didn’t want it to end! What does that say about me? Bravo, Mr. Carpenter!

Definitely worth reading

If you have a thing for killers then you'll definitely enjoy this. It once again shows how easy it is to get away with murder, as long as you are careful... and a bit lucky.
We never learn why he kills which makes it all the more more real. I totally understand how Ginger accepts who he is.
As long as the editing clangers are fixed this is a great read.

This book was freaking genius. The whole time I was thinking ole dude was in jail doing interviews and all that, so my mind was blown at the end. Parts of it were pretty funny. Just the right amount of humor, and everything else. It was balanced well. Written well. Perfect. I loved it.
