Giants are probably not real. Angels and demons are most likely fairy tales. Bigfoot, chupacabra, and The Mothman can easily be explained by tricks of light, mass hysteria and people seeing what they want to see.
At least, these are the facts with which Ada guards herself whenever she investigates paranormal activity. It will take falling into the clutches of a very real supernatural creature to convince her otherwise. Even so, she's never been frightened of a mystery. Uncovering what this ten-foot beast intends to do with her is yet another curious matter, and one that she intends to investigate fully. For science.
Samuel is too old for this. Literally. At more than ten thousand years of age, this half-human, half-angel hasn't felt the ache for human companionship in decades. Yet now, one human name invades his mind, and he can't shake it. Finding out who she is is simple enough. Determining what she knows, where her loyalties lie, and the meaning of this psychic intrusion are far less-than-simple tasks. Only one option seems right: lure the human woman named Ada into his lair and keep her hidden until he has the answers he craves.
This, this, this...I loved so much. Always a big Abby Knox fan, but this is my favorite book by her. This is not the normal genre she does, but she nailed it. Storyline was fantastic and kept me glued to the pages, starting with the prologue. Where paranormal fantasy meets reality, literally.
Ada aka little fox, is a paranormal investigator, and so much more, in town for a festival that she is speaking at. Samuel is one of the Nephilim giants, and senses her before he meets her. These two were so sensual, I can’t even put it into words, but I loved the connection they have. Let’s say...library shenanigans. He is sweet and protective of her, and she is an ornery little spitfire.
This was a safe read with a fantastic storyline. My only question is...will there be another book, and if so...eta? More please, because this was so addicting, and I need more nowish.
This is Paranormal romance. It tells you the story of Samuel a half human/giant angel and Ada scientist.
When he sees Ada name written in the scrolls there is something that finds himself intrigued by her. When she is a guest panelist about paranormal activities and her findings, there is a moment they connect but just like that he disappears.
Samuel keeps an eye on Ada because he cannot help himself, he hasn’t felt any sort of attachment for anyone in decades, and you feel it with him. What starts off as a kidnapping, leads to an agreement made for one night together and for Ada to gain knowledge about his species leads to intimate moments shared and strong feelings develop but their relationship or what they have is forbidden by his laws. I laughed, I smiled and I swooned over Samuel and the scenes were amazing, I fanned myself quiet a bit.
Unexpected revelations are made but these two work so well together, I was cheering for them the whole way through.
I couldn’t put this book down, it was that good I read it in a day. I honestly wasn’t sure how I was going to take this book but I’m so glad I gave it a chance because it had everything I expected and more. I cannot wait to read more about this couple.
It's no secret that I adore anything and everything that Abby Knox writes but let me tell you, we've entered a whole new ballpark and domain with her latest release Nephilim's Captive! And it is SO GOOD!
I love Ada! She's snarky, feisty, endearing and sarcastic, but still filled with passion for her job and the research and experiences that accompany it.
And Samuel, sweet, grumpy, world weary Samuel. I adored him, and only loved him more with each grumbling interaction! And his brothers, they definitely made me smile, their characterization coming through crystal clear!
The secondary characters in general were really great and intriguing and well developed, really lending to enhancing the story.
I love the lore, the world building, the camaraderie, and the relationship between Ada and Samuel! Their conversations make me chuckle, their moments of tenderness and of heat are electric.
There is tension, there is drama, there is chemistry, and there are celestial beings, what more could a girl ask for?!
I cannot wait to read the next book in the Sons of Earth and Heaven series, and love this new path that Abby is on!
Sometimes I worry when authors who write shorter stories try longer ones and vice versa, I feel like it doesn't always work but this author has done it! In Nephilim's Captive, (the author's first full length story) we readers get and amazing adventure, love, and the supernatural. I loved reading about all the supernatural and paranormal creatures in this story and was overwhelmed (in the best way) with how the story all comes together as an epic romance. The humor and snark throughout the story only adds to the brilliant story this is and I could not love the main characters more. I really hope this author decides to continue this world because I would love to get lost in another story! 4.5 stars.
I received a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. This is the first book by Abby Knox that I've read and I must say I was extremely impressed. Growing up in a religious family we were taught about the Nephilim and how they came to Earth and corrupted the human race. One half of the reason God told Noah to build the Ark. I loved Samuel and Ada. She's so sassy, no nonsense, devoted to her beliefs. He's smitten right from the word Go! Facing the issues and problems they did, it was lovely to see the brothers, others and even archangels and spirits of the dead back them up. This was a book that I couldn't put down and I"ll definitely be looking for more books by Abby.
I love reading about angels, and this one was quite fascinating! The backstory was sad, but it was quite intriguing to read about the Nephilim’s and have Samuel’s story told, about his fascination with Ada and in turn, how she started feeling about him. It was filled with fun, intrigue, some sexy times, other worldly chemistry, and some suspense at the end. I very much enjoyed this and hope there will be more!
WOW!!! Nephilim's Captive kept me on the edge of my seat. Y'all need to grab this book and follow along the journey of Ada and her giant Samuel. Angels, demon, ghost and prophecies this book has it all.
I enjoyed this book very much. Angels, demons, ghost and more. Kept me in the edge of my seat. I couldn’t put it down . I really hope there will be more books in his brothers!!
Ada & Samuel.... Ada is a paranormal investigator who is in town to speak at a festival. She is one feisty woman,
Samuel is one of the Nephilm Giants. he actually senses her before they meet.
I must say I loved this one. It was different fun and fresh from the author. The characters were lively and fun with amazing history. Another hit for me!
This book was filled with incredible world building, mythical creatures and stories . This book was really well written, the love story was beautiful and their connection instant and real. I loved Samuel and Ada ‘s journey and cannot wait to read the next book in the series.
Great story. The characters feel like real people. The world building is excellent. Abby starts with crypto monsters and develops logical explanations.
Ok the men have been abducting women for centuries & having orgies yet for some reason only the females are the wh*res? Whenever the event is mentioned only females are insulted when the whole thing was orchestrated by the men. They are the disgusting wh*res sl*ts. I couldn’t handle the double standard & don’t have any respect for males with no s*xual morals or discipline.
i find myself skimming. we're just getting so much information and very little is actually happening. the story is finally starting at ~17% but im afraid the pacing will continue to be a problem for me. and the angelic ?? giants ?? it's a bit farfetched for me, and i don't feel drawn to them in the way i am to paranormal creatures that are already widely established in fiction (vampires, shifters, etc).
What an original story. I myself haven't read this kind of storyline. So it's original to me. I loved Samuel and Ada. It was great how Abby spun this story. The details were what gave it it's originality. From the very beginning I was curious as how the dynamics were going to work. Turns out Abby has a very active imagination and I can't wait to see whose story is next.
