Rate this book
''Dona Biswas’s book is a very welcome attempt to apply ideas of quantum physics and the primacy of consciousness to human psychology. Written in a lucid and evocative style, the book will keep you thinking about yourself in the right direction for days. I recommend it.''-Amit Goswami, PhD, quantum physicist, author of The Everything Answer Book and (with Valentina Onisor) Quantum Spirituality'’We have come a full circle- despite massive improvements in living standards, life expectancy and giant leaps in technology, humankind is still plagued by unhappiness, sorrow and mental illness. Healing is not so much finding our ideal biological state, although this is undoubtedly important, but finding purpose and meaning in our existence. A quantum psychiatrist helps find people find meaning while optimising their physical, emotional, mental and spiritual state.’’In The Quantum Psychiatrist, Dona Biswas explores a new paradigm in Psychiatry based on the principles of Quantum Physics and explains a variety of cutting-edge solutions to achieve peak mental health. The book systematically explains simple and lesser-known solutions and reviews the science and evidence behind them. You will •Why the current paradigm of mental health is inadequate in dealing with mental illness.•How research in quantum physics is influencing and validating lesser-known mental health treatments.•How wearable technology and brain-computer interface are providing solutions to vexing mental health problems.•How knowledge of the body’s energy field is being used for innovative solutions to problems like depression, anxiety and post-traumatic stress disorder among others. In The Quantum Psychiatrist, Dr. Biswas shows that it is possible to achieve peak mental health, even for those with chronic and complex problems. Using personal stories, Dr. Biswas shares her passion for healing and shows that change is possible for people suffering from mental health issues.

Dr. Dona Biswas specialised in Psychiatry in India, where she practiced for a number of years before moving to Australia. After gaining her Fellowship in Australia, she worked in several reputed public hospitals in Sydney, before moving into her own private practice at Blacktown. While in private practice, she realised the limited impact that conventional psychiatric treatments were having on her clients’ lives and began to train in several cutting-edge interventions to help her clients. She has gained expertise in modalities like neurofeedback, eye movement desensitisation and reprocessing (EMDR), transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS), transcranial direct current stimulation (tDCS), emotional freedom technique (EFT) and RESET therapy among others and integrates these modalities with conventional treatments in her practice. She is also an experienced energy healer, being a Reiki Master for more than 15 years and a Seichim Master as well. Her passion is to help people not only overcome their mental illness, but also encourage them to fulfil their untapped and unlimited potential. She works not only with clients with mental illnesses, but also with people who seek to improve their work performance, sense of wellbeing and find meaning in life.

THIS IS THE BOOK I HAVE BEEN SEARCHING FOR YEARS. I HAVE BEEN PRACTICING SPIRITUALITY FOR THE LAST 13 YEARS AND I HAVE SEEN MANY AMAZING RESULTS IN THIS JOURNEY BUT I ALWAYS TRIED TO FIND OUT THE SCIENTIFIC LINKS RELATED TO THESE RESULTS.

THIS BOOK GAVE ME ALL THE SCIENTIFIC ANSWERS RELATED TO ALL THE AMAZING THINGS HAPPEN IN OUR LIFE WHICH NO TEXT BOOK COULD TELL. THE LANGUAGE WHICH AUTHOR HAS USED IS VERY SIMPLE TO UNDERSTAND. THE BEST THING ABOUT THIS BOOK IS THAT THE AUTHOR HAS TRIED TO EXPLAIN EACH AND EVERY CONCEPT IN A VERY DETAIL AND SIMPLE TO UNDERSTAND WAY AND THE EXAMPLES SHE USED ARE VERY INTERESTING AND RELATED TO OUR DAILY LIFE WHICH THE READER CAN EASILY RELATE TO HIS OR HER LIFE.

ALTHOUGH ITS A SCIENTIFIC BOOK BUT THE AUTHOR HAS EXPLAINED ALL THE SCIENTIFIC CONCEPTS IN SUCH A WAY THAT PEOPLE FROM NON SCIENCE BACKGROUND CAN ALSO EASILY UNDERSTAND IT.

I FEEL BLESSED THAT GOD HAS GIVEN ME A VERY BEAUTIFUL GIFT IN THE FORM OF THIS BOOK.

GOD BLESS ALL OF YOU
THANK YOU

If I could give 6 stars, I would

Wow. I had never heard of quantum psychiatry before this book but picked it up, as I’m very interested in the learnings into the brain that have taken place over the last decade. I am so glad I did. This is one of those books that pulls several ideas and strands together into one.

It’s based on Einstein’s theory of quantum physics but also brings in an element of philosophy - is our brain just matter or thoughts? It turns the western medicalisation of the brain and the body on its head. While I have studied quantum physics, the author explains the concepts in language and examples that makes it understandable for all.

The idea is that the body and brain, as matter, have several energies to it and that different treatments treat different energies. It also helps explain why things can just seem to “fall into place”. This book has given me a renewed sense of energy about my own life. Thank you.

According to Wikipedia, around one in three people in the world suffers a mental illness at some point in their lives. Pointedly, that means that Psychiatry is everyone's business today since very likely you, someone in your family or circle of friends/colleagues suffers from a mental illness today. Conventional Psychiatry, which is based on classical physics hasn't grown much for some years now and is becoming increasingly inadequate to treat the growing numbers of atypical cases of the mentally ill. Experts point out that the lack of growth is because Psychiatry is out of the scope of classical physics (that works well only in the macroscopic world). The brain's chemical workshop, which runs at subatomic levels, need quantum physics (not classical physics) for answers. In this book, the author first introduces Quantum Psychiatry (or the Psychiatry of the future based on quantum physics) and then the tantalizing future that lies ahead for it.

I enjoyed this book at the beginning of it. The author did a great job of bringing in how quantum physics could relate to things that happen in the brain. However, towards the middle and the end of the book, I felt that a simple quote (from Albert Einstein at the beginning of the chapter) was maintaining the connection to quantum physics. This method of using the word “quantum” has been a popular thing to use for all sorts of marketing ploys for so many industries. I feel that is all it became towards the end. Just another place where the word “quantum” was being used because it is the new fad science word to get more clicks.

SUCH an interesting book! I loved it! I wasn’t sure what to expect, but it went into great detail - in easily understood terms - about traditional takes on the brain and what some consider a “new age” take. I, too, started in the traditional realm but found it lacking. Some really cool insights here.
