Imagine a love so deep it was the worst drug you ever encountered. Lai’shan ‘Widow’ Braga finds herself about to take over the Braga crime family empire and it’s something that she’s been trained for since the beginning and she’s ready for it. Not even being born a woman can stop Widow. Her family is on their way up to the top and she will be sitting on the throne. They are untouchable, unstoppable and nobody can rival them. No one except the Powell family who are just as powerful. These two families have only one thing in common; they both want to be the top! Mercutio ‘Sinister’ Powell is in the same position as Widow; he’s about to become the head of his family, something his mother has trained him for since he was a child. Now that it’s time, the only thing on Sinister’s and Widow’s minds are taking over and getting rid of the family that stands in their way. They get the opportunity but something they didn’t expect happens – they fall in love instead. Do they give in to their hearts desires even if it goes against everything they have been taught or will they put their families first and become the enemies they were destined to be? Keirah Logan is the best friend to Widow and the daughter of a well-known District Attorney. While visiting her mother one day, she stumbles across Akari ‘Ruin’ Higgins, who also happens to be the man her mother is determined to put in jail! The two are instantly drawn to each other knowing that they have no business even entertaining the thought. But sometimes, what’s bad for you is what your heart wants the most, and they soon find that out when they can’t stay away from each other. The only problem is, people on both sides want to see them apart, and, Ruin isn’t as available as he seems. Do they give in to the temptation or do they allow their family to win over what their hearts desire? And finally, we meet Micah – the younger cousin of Ruin. As the only princess in the family, she lives a sheltered life with Ruin running away any man that even looks in her direction. Knowing that her having a man is something that is never going to happen thanks to her cousin’s interference, Micah gives up the idea of finding that one and results to living carefree like her cousin. That’s until Jaiah ‘Wreck’ Bailey crash lands into her life. Just like every other man, Wreck is immediately warned off Micah and she is told the same. Wreck is okay with that because he is adamant that he’s there to pay off his sister’s debt and nothing more. However, sometimes love can hit you when you’re not even looking for it and it comes for them. Do they ignore Ruin and give in to what they want or will Ruin win? Find out what paths these couples chose and what lengths some are willing to go to keep that that insatiable love.
This was a very long confusing book there are so many characters and plots that I really just skipped the whole story line with Micah and wreck because if they going after stone wouldn't they know about the Powells and the Bragas this feud been going on for how long and even though keriah brother was wrong he didn't force her to take the pills she did it knowing she was pregnant so that's her own fault.. how could any of these couples have a happy ever after with all the hurt they cause to each other no matter the explanation you just can't over look your brothers death or the death of a child or the fact that you was being used to hurt your own family
The start of this book, I was all these characters, but I loved the in-depth background knowledge of each character. So enjoyed the storyline and these characters. It was well written and flowed so smoothly at a steady pace. All the drama, secrets and suspense kept me wondering what's happening next. Towards the end all the secrets that were exposed with so many twist and turns, had my mouth wide open. I know it's so much behind that ending and I can't wait to see how it all unfolds. Great job Kelly Marie.
This enemy to lover urban love story was a modern day melanated Romeo & Juliet with all the drama and murder you need. I loved the action and ruthlessness of Widow and Sinister. They were a match made in cartel heaven. The supporting characters as well each could hold their own i.e. Keirah and Ruin or Wreck and Micha, even those in lesser roles like Percy or the parents. The story moved well. The characters were developed. Yes, I was little over the lengthy monologues that could turn repetitive so I skimmed them. However, it didn't take away from my enjoyment of this series. There were action and drama scenes throughout and I love a good murder/torture scene when love is involved. on to book two. 3.5 rolled to a 4
Ms. kelz. You never ceasr to amaze me. You show up and show every single time. I am so glad I waited until both books were out before I started this series. All the lies, secrets, and betrayals are just crazy. Definetly didn't see Wreck being undercover. He played his role soo damn good. Didn't expect Blair to be Candy either, and she is messing with Widow's cousin Kwame. This had my whole head spinning and I can't wait to dive into the finale.
This book has so many twist and turns. Widow didn’t want to hear nothing Sinister had to say after hearing the heart breaking news. I hope they can get back to each other. Ruin will just have to forgive Keirah because he knows she’s as crazy as him. Wreck is playing a dangerous game. I can’t wait to see how this plays out.
At the start i was like it's way to many characters and I'm now gone be able to do it. But the more I read the more intrigued I became with everyone's stories. Now the problem is I need to know what happens next. Lol....
This was a page turner from beginning to end. Every one of these couples has secrets and are crazy, but that’s what made this book so incredible. Can’t wait for part 2. I’m rooting for widow and sinister.
Lady, 1st of all this was action packed. 2nd, three forbidden loves, 3rd all of the damn secrets, deceitful parents, 4th that ending!! Part 2 me please
Oh wow this ending . I hate to see the series go at first I didn't expect everything to work out like it did but im glad it did enjoyed every bit of it.
This book was so good. So many twist and turns. Lots of players in the mix. So happy Sin and Widow got their happy ending. They went through a lot for their parents. I was sooo disappointed with Wreck. Him and Micah were my favorite but I'm glad he tried to make it right. Percy was straight up crazy! Loved that Ruin moved on. Another great read!
This book was crazy as hell. The Powell's and Bragas let's not forget the Higgins. I loved it though, Crazy ass Widow,Keirah Micah it don't forget Percy lmao
Wreck wasn't who he said he was. When Akari and and Micah found out the truth about Jaiah. It put the family freedom at risk. Percy had truly lost her mind. Akari started to see that although he grew up with her and they were very close at one point. He had no clue that she was crazy. Keirah knew once Percy confronted her she should have told Akari but she wanted to protect her brother and protect Akari feelings but the truth came out anyway. Widow found out what really happened to her brother and it put a strain on her and Sinister relationship. Which caused her father to be happy and Sinister mother to start back plotting but things didn't go the wsyt Rage and Hela thought they would.
Yep I need part two now! Whew this book was filled with so many secrets. I’m on the edge of my seat and I can’t wait for the next part. As always kelly did her thang. I’m just in disbelief with some of these characters and I need some answers. A great start to this series and a must read.
What an excellent read im so glad Widow ans Sinister got together after there plan so could live happy...there parents getting together was too funny...so glad about the turn out for all the other couples
