Parityakta by Bhuwan Dhungana is a work of fiction. Written in the first person’s stream-of-consciousness narrative, the story unravels the internal landscape of a woman, who branching out into many roles of daughter, beloved, wife, and mother, nevertheless constantly stumbles upon the well of loneliness from which the sense of abandonment springs perennially.
Bhuwan Dhungana is one of the leading female short story writers in Nepali, known for her blend of emotionality and intellectualism. Her short stories, "The Thousand Rupee Note" has been translated into English and Urdu and another short story "Hunger" has been published in Japanese. Her book Yuddhako ghoshana garnu bhanda aghi, a collection of short stories, has been highly appreciated. Stories in this book cover a life spent fighting for democracy and freedom of expression.
