About the author

Andre Gatling

Born in Southeast, Washington DC, Andre has always had an interest in expressing himself verbally and in writings. During high school, Andre wrote an article that was published in The Washington Post expressing his views on how we ,as students, should be willing to except students with AIDS into schools considering the bullying they were going through.
Andre, an alumni of the DC Improv Comedy School, has had a long and successful career in the entertainment business as a standup comedian, actor and improver. But his real love in life is rescuing and training an array of animals, particularly the Pitbull. He has spent well over 25 years working with animals and much more time growing up around Pitbulls. He realized he had a unique approach to changing the behavior of aggressive dogs from his personal experiences with dogs and his time working with quarantined dogs in animal shelters. In his own words, Andre will tell you, "Aggression in a dog is similar to aggression in a human. We're both scared of what we don't understand, and our need to protect leads to aggression. Changing that aggression in a dog is more complex because the dog doesn't speak English, so I had to learn to speak dog!"
Andre lives in Potomac Falls, Virginia with his 2 Pitbulls, Chloe and Jordan, both of whom have American Kennel Club (AKC) accreditations. Chloe-who he calls a Ball Addict-has an AKC Good Citizenship Title, while Jordan-who he calls the Bone Collector-achieved her AKC Star Puppy Award. These accolades help Andre's advocacy for Pitbulls to help change the perception of the breed.

Penelope's Bully by Andre Gatling
This book is an incredible read with a strong message for kids and as well as for adults .  This is a story of a girl Penelope who has moved into a new neighborhood but nobody wants to be friends with her and bully her too. She met Chloe, a stray pit bull, and they became friends but neighborhood people don't want Chole in their area because she is a giant pitbull but very cute and friendly with Penelope so it's interesting to know how Penelope convinces everyone that chole can stay with her .
Illustrations are also very beautiful and wonderful that kids are going to love this book . This book is just perfect for children to teach them that everyone is different and  animals also need special care and attention like us . This book also spreads awareness towards bullying, teaches empathy and kindness towards animals .This book truly shows how animals are longing for love and care like us. Whether you have a dog as a pet  or not but who doesn't love children's books with such a cute  and helpful dog like Chole.
Overall this book is an enjoyable read with meaningful lessons.

Touching story for any fan of dogs and foe of bullies

This book is a touching story that will have you rooting hard for Chloe, and even harder for the people in the world to understand her. I’m sure the author has seen this story play out so many times in real life. What an amazing way to teach people about why it can be hurtful to make assumptions about each other. And the illustrations are so perceptive...they convey so much emotion from Penelope and li’l Chloe.
