Twenty-one year old Tom Jewett has embarked on a new career. His new job as a cub journalist with the Traber Herald sends him and his wife, Sally, to Traber, Colorado, the birthplace of Tom's great grandfather. Almost immediately after settling into their new Victorian fixer-upper, Tom's dreams begin. But are these dreams of an old room decorated with antiques and dimly lit with kerosene lamps-simply dreams? Maybe, just maybe, the room does exist. Days of searching lead to absolutely nothing, not a trace of the old room, until one night when a terrible storm hits Traber and the power goes out. It was to become the blackest of nights for young Tom Jewett and the deepest of mysteries for Sally...

Ok, the narrator, Alan Philip Ormond, did a great job reading this story. The recording production was good. I had no issues with either of those. As for the story, I did like it but wanted to like it even more. Your suspension of disbelieve has to be so far out there that you can't even see it anymore. Just go with it. The story is interesting but there was just something about it that wouldn't let me love it as much as I wanted to. I don't want to reveal any of the plot cause you think it's one way and will end happy but it's just so frustrating. so close but never making that connection. you'll see what I mean. I would read or listen to more by this author.
This book combins currant fiction with time travel, historical fiction and romance. It was an interesting concept but a bit confusing in places. I still enjoyed it.
The narration was well done. The characters were well portrayed by Alan Philip Ormond.

This is a really great historical fiction with a twist. I really like time traveling books and historical books, and this one gave me both plus a little more. There are twists and turns, emotions, and it kept me interested and guessing all the way to the end. The narration of the book is truly excellent. I am a lover of audiobooks, but had never listened to anything narrated by Alan Philip Ormond before. He did such a great job in every way - great diction, pacing, pronunciation, and the extra something that a good narrator adds that sucks you into the story as if someone were telling it to you over a camp fire.
I received a free copy of this audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this honest review. The free copy did not influence my review in any way. With the Kindle Unlimited program I was also able to read along, which really added to my experience.
