Do you have motivation? This book sure does, it is the perfect read for anyone who needs a cup of motivation. We as humans go through tons of emotions daily, and sometimes it's hard to relax. This book is a breath of fresh air and your guide to real life, self-development, wisdom, and the plain truth. If you want to go harder in life, you have to do what champions do! If you want to be successful, you have to turn that dream into a reality. If you want to change a bad habit, you must first change your mindset. I write for that boy who is suffering from depression, for that girl who wants to achieve her goals, for that man who needs encouragement through his marriage, for that woman who is getting physically abused by her husband, and for anyone who needs that extra boost of motivation. I give you real people with real problems to help you get through any situation.
After reading so many self help books, a reader tend to find similarities in other books. But every book is helpful in one way or another. I would recommend this book to any novice reader or someone who loves short stories for deep impact. Yes, this book has too many short stories and straight quotes which is easy to understand and highly motivated.
I couldn’t put this book down. It had so much ideas and advice and short stories about what to do in life and the lessons that many of us go through.
The lessons are quick and totally relatable. Also, many insight and great ideas.
Starting a new year, this is a great book to start new goals, new year resolutions. Also, it is well balanced from believing once self, and watching out for bad relationships, and noticing good relationships. But also, helps with confidence and feeling empowered to do what one must believe.
Scriptures are also present which is nice to apply it into all the different aspects of what this book showcases.
Writing a book takes time and effort to put words onto a page. Although some of the traditional barriers to publishing have come down, it is still an achievement to have a book published. I congratulate the author for doing what many have dreamed about and, for whatever reason, have not managed to accomplish.
This book attempts to be a guide to real life, self-development, wisdom, and the plain truth, done through short stories and speeches. The author genuinely wants helps people to succeed – the book is dedicated ‘to young men and women who are on a mission to succeed’, and there are voluminous anecdotes and motivational passages in the book.
Unfortunately, the good intentions of the author are clouded and muddled by numerous choices that I felt undercut the potential impact of the book.
There is a lot of content attempted to be covered within this book. Instead of depth of material, the author has decided to cover a lot of topics in less depth. Of itself, this choice is not a problem. However, I found that the almost seemingly scattergun material ends up being very shallow rather than of deep lasting impact, skating over what could potentially be useful substance. The speeches are written as if spoken, with colloquialisms and formatting that may help a speaker giving a talk. This may be useful if it were for that purpose or a transcription. Given that this is neither, I think that this blunts the intended impact. I did not mind the religious references, but I wonder what a more secular audience would make of it. There were also for me points of dubious content – for example, on page 67, there appears to be the implication that vegetarians are addicts, while on page 75 where there is a claim without evidence or reference that ‘it takes 21 days to make a habit and 21 days to break a habit’.
Despite the contents notionally listing 5 Chapters, each separate concept has its own heading in the content, all the way until page 119(!). Not only are the listing for chapter and content all in the same format with no differentiation, but the contents of each chapter did also not seem to have anything to do with each other.
There is also inconsistent formatting which irritated me and drew my attention away from the substance of the book. Some pages have a justified margin, while other similar types of passages have a left alignment with jagged right margin. Passages within the same section are bolded, underlined, or both inconsistently and too often, lessening the impact sought. Some words are suddenly in a smaller text size seemingly without reason. Page numbers are listed in square brackets at the bottom left of each page after that page’s text no matter the length of text on that page (something I do not remember ever seeing before), resulting in inconsistent page number placement.
I wonder whether it may have been more impactful to cover less material but do so in a structured way that goes deeper into less material for greater impact overall? Additionally, could a heavy edit have assisted with the formatting to standardise things and avoid irritating distractions that I found significantly detracted from the book?
I know this all sounds very negative and critical, and I am sorry for it. I wanted this book to succeed, for there is a place for works that do manage to genuinely motivate and help people succeed. There may be the start of very helpful material here.
I am pleased for those who did get something out of this book. I am not one of them – I did not get any motivated to succeed, gain any wisdom, or develop myself further.
I received this book free in return for a review. To the best of my ability, I did not let that fact impact my review of the it.
At this moment, the world around us looks like it has stopped moving around its orbit. Everything is at the mercy of tiny Carona virus which nobody imagined in their wildest dreams that it will bring the world to its knees.
Staying motivated during hard times is a book which will give us hope like an extra cup of coffee during the rainy season. This book keeps us grounded by telling us to be mindful by accepting the right labels.
Patrice our author qualifies in letting her readers know that you will become what you think you are. If you think negative about yourself that’s what you will become and on the contrary once you start feeling positive everything looks charged.
One of the lessons I learnt from this book is to learn to accept things as they are and move one with life instead of trying too hard to change it.
You gets an awakening feeling when you read the story of Alicia an under-confident woman. She stars giving too much to an unpredictive man who cheats on her. How she confronts him once she realizes that she deserves a better life than this abusive relationship.
Stop worrying because yesterday is gone and today is a new day. Do what you love and never settle for anything lessor.
Well, if you are a non-believer or too practically oriented then you may find this book difficult to swallow as it questions your belief system.
This book is filled with wonderful suggestions for feeling better. I enjoyed a lot of the quotes and breakdown of themes from emotional, physical, and spiritual. I am glad more books on this topic exist now! Lots of positive thoughts and provoking ideas to promote motivation and confidence
A breath of fresh air. Has many exercises/ways to improve your life. To improve you. You can't change unless you yourself pull the trigger to do so. To be that better person. The book came to me at a perfect time, as I was in a desperate need to realign my mind.
I read and listen to a lot of books, and some are just so incredibly bad that I continue to read or listen just because I can't keep my figurative eyes away from the train wreck. Such was the case with this book, unfortunately. It's hard to even describe all its different poorly done aspects. One more benign, but annoying, aspect was all the language errors, including simple things like subject-verb agreement. But the most horrendous is the kind of stories and tips the author includes that she believes will keep you motivated in a hard time. If you have any triggers at all because of your own past trauma or trauma done to those whom you love, you will likely not want to listen to or read this book, as the stories contain just about every kind of trauma-inducing relationship or life circumstance that you may imagine. One of the earliest stories is about a physically abusive relationship; in another more towards the middle of the book, a bride is killed by her groom at the altar because a man from the woman's past wants her to be with him instead of the groom! Say, what? There are also stories about people who suffer grievous accidents and addictions … and basically everybody’s lives in these “motivational stories” go to heck in the proverbial handbasket rather quickly. The author also makes sweeping generalizations about the reader, and frankly, is quite insulting toward the reader way too often. I found myself shaking my head and nearly throwing my iPad because of some statements and stories. This is just so poorly done. I suspect the author is not the true writer of the story. Rather the author is a publisher who has hired a cheap, barely English-speaking ghostwriter who has no clue about trauma, and the publisher hasn't cared enough to actually put out a quality work. Not recommended.
I received a promo code for this audiobook, but that did not affect my review.
This is a beautifully written book, filled with wisdom and the love of God. The ideas expressed in this book speaks of, self-love, exceptance of self, forgiveness of self and others. Faith is a big part of the journey. Having God to light your way was essential. It is important being true to yourself. There is so much sound advice between these pages. I am so glad I had the opportunity to read this author's work. I will keep this book close by for reference if I ever start to doubt myself at any period. Cheers to this author for her inspiring words. I take away from this book the importance of self-love, positivity, peace , joy, happiness and gratitude.
Amazing read!! Truly enjoyed it. One could easily relate to the short stories and experiences outlined in the book. I'm sure each one of us has gone through the events explained at some stage in their life and also learnt lessons, but reading it over and understanding the moral through this book proves to be reaffirming. The words spread so much positivity and personally to me has been consoling as well. I do not mind reading this all over again to feel the vibes once more. Hats off to a great job and I definitely recommend this to anyone who is looking for some uplift or feel good factor.
Toxic relationships, low self-esteem, substance abuse - the book deals with all these topics and more via short stories, speeches, guidance. The message that shines through is that our lives are in our hands. What we make of it is our responsibility. "What we allow to define us also limits us" is a line from the book that will stay with me for a long, long time. If you are feeling lost and cannot find yourself, this is the book to pull you out.
This is not the normal type of book that I usually read. I enjoyed this book; it has a ton of good advice for dealing with things that are going on in life. The book is filled with great suggestions for coping and dealing with issues. There are scriptures that are added to the book they provide guidance with the issues. This is an awesome book to read.
While reading the first chapter I was really getting into the book but as the book on, it got harder to follow until further on in the book. The scriptures and having the suicide number incase anybody needed help was a great touch. Maybe for the next book have the chapters running more cohesively. Apart from that, well worth a read.
This is the perfect read for anyone who is tired of struggles and decides to rise up. Staying motivated in hard times is wisdom, truth and your handbook to the real world. Short stories of people in real life situations and transformational speeches.
In her book description she said I should read it to get a cup of motivation, but I had had a jug full and it's overflowing. Such an excellent write up. She really can write; giving out the nuggets freely and accompanying them with interesting stories.
This book is packed full of great advice, tidbits of wisdom, inspirational quotes, and very relatable anecdotes about achieving success. I love the author’s straight-forward, no- nonsense approach, and I believe anyone could benefit from reading this book.
I was totally blown away by this book. The writing is relatable, easy to digest and simply inspiring. It has inspired me to keep going and to keep pushing forward. This is a great read!
