Einar Øverenget is a well known Norwegian philosopher, concerning himself with problems surrounding ethics and values, as well as cultural development and anti-corruption.
He got his PhD in philosophy from Boston College, and is currently the rector of ACTIVA Humanistiske Akademi, which he also co-founded in 2000. Øverenget thinks it is important to make philosophy accessible to the people, and is often to be seen and heard in the media.
He appeared as one of the expert witnesses in the Anders Behring Breivik trial in 2012. He argued that evil does indeed exist, and that it does not necessarily automatically translate to insanity. He therefore argued that Behring Breivik could be held accountable for his actions.
