USA TODAY Bestselling Author Silvana G. Sánchez weaves tales of forbidden love and redemption. Her pen blurs the lines between good and evil, writing compelling heroes and irresistible villains with a heart of gold. She lives her own happily ever after with her dashing prince, Eric, and darling son, David, in their home in the mystical city of Guadalajara, Mexico. Don’t be afraid to drop her a line. She doesn't bite. Not always, anyway.
I loved this installment in the Vesely Academy series. I read the prequel and was so happy to find Drahoslav as the main character in this one. I immediately fell for this forsaken angel, just like Raven did, and who could blame her? He experiences his newly acquired human life so intensely and so vividly, it made me appreciate my humanity even more! It took me longer to connect with Raven, but once I had, I completely related to her and what she goes through. The story is fast paced with great action, amazing scenes I could picture as if I was there, and brilliant characters I can't wait to discover more of in the next book! I recommend this story 100%.

This is about a 20 minute read. It tells of Drahoslava after he losses his wings and meets Raven who is going through her own problems. I felt it skipped a lot and never really said anything. So now that Drahoslava is human does he get the job, maybe the next story will tell. Maybe the next story will give us more on this story.

So many magical academies to choose from, but Vesely stands out! Angels, werewolves, vampires and shifters come together in this exciting paranormal tale of love, betrayal, magic and evil all within one school. Raven is a crow shifter, who discovers her long lost brother has arrived as the new headmaster. But since he practices dark arts and surrounds himself with poisonous vipers, Raven goes out of her way to avoid him. Which leads her to the woods and the Soul Thief. Even as she takes him under her wing, this newly fallen angel falls hard, for her. I really enjoyed this book. Full of suspense, magic and flawed characters that still search for love and friendship despite their differences..

Being the first book that I've read from this author, I quite enjoyed it. This book is maybe a 20-40 min read (depending on how fast you are) and is through the eyes of Drahoslava. I probably should have read the prequel first because at times it felt as though I missed out on previous information or that the storyline skipped over some stuff. (Again, this is most likely my fault and not the writing itself). But, I enjoyed the writing style, it was clear and understandable, and I liked reading how this character dealt with his new issues (becoming practically human), and meeting the fated Raven character, who also has issues of her own. Overall, good read.
This is not my normal type of read. That being said after I got into it I was in a reading frenzy. I'm having a hard time describing it due to the different elements. I have read books with shape shifters and other beings but this had a number of layers to it. Each character was well written and so believable. The basic love story is beautiful. The side stories are all intertwined and well fitting. I look forward to reading the next on. So glad I took .the opportunity to read this.

After pulling a soul out of hell, angel Drahoslav loses his wings when he meets Raven. Raven does not realize that he is a fallen angel right away and offers to get him a job as the librarian. After learning he lost his wings she is determined to help him get them back. This is a fast burn but oh so worth it.

This book kept me glued to my seat until I finished it. Drahos is now a fallen guardian for stealing a soul from hell. When he comes across Raven, he fully understands what it is to be human. As he fell in love with her, dark forces in the Academy tries to pull them apart. When her life is in danger, he gives up everything to save her. This was so great.

Vesely Academy: A Paranormal Academy Mini Series (Book 1): The Soul Thief by Silvana G. Sánchez is a wonderful story to read. I highly recommend this story to everyone who loves reading about fantasy and paranormal romance.

It's not every day that an Angel of God sneaks into Hell to steal a soul. Drahoslav discovered Vampires, were the vilest kind. For it was a vampire who seduced him into sealing an unbreakable vow. And because of that vow, I committed the darkest sin: stealing a soul from Hell. Dark ,exciting and thrilling ,recommended read.
I hadn’t read the prequel in this series so I hope that I haven’t missed out on anything crucial to this series, anyway I enjoyed Drahoslav’s story he’s an angel of god but he was stripped of his wings because a vile vampire seduced him to steal a soul from hell. This is a fantastic, exciting story I loved it and I highly recommend this book it’s definitely well worth the read.
Words can not express how fascinating this book is. Nor how much I love this new series. Ladies and gentlemen don't let this one slip by. It's truly worth a read. I couldn't put it down. Every time Mrs. Silvana Sánchez puts her fingers on a keyboard, magic happens. I am completely addicted to her books and am patiently waiting the next.
I’m obsessed with The Soul Thief by Silvana G. Sánchez—this book captured my heart and soul in the best possible way. From the very first page, I was pulled into a world where divine and supernatural forces clash, where forbidden love teeters on the edge of damnation, and where every choice has consequences that could alter the course of eternity.
Drahoslav, the guardian angel turned mortal librarian at Vesely Academy, is one of the most compelling, tortured characters I’ve ever encountered. His journey from angelic duty to mortal vulnerability is raw and heartbreaking. Stripped of his wings after committing an act of divine rebellion, Drahoslav finds himself stuck in a human body, serving out his punishment while trying to earn redemption. But that all changes when he meets Raven Bryson. Their chemistry? Electric. Their love story? Devastatingly beautiful.
Raven, cursed to shift into a raven each night, has spent her life feeling isolated and out of place. I really felt for her—her transformation from a lonely, cursed outsider to someone experiencing true love for the first time is so poignant. And Drahoslav? He’s her escape, her light in the darkness, and the stakes of their forbidden romance had me on the edge of my seat.
What I loved most about this book is how every moment is charged with tension—there’s always something at stake. The suspense is relentless as supernatural forces—ghosts, necromancers, angels, and demons—circle the couple, threatening to tear them apart. The gothic atmosphere is chilling in the best way, creating this darkly romantic vibe that made me never want to put the book down. The slow burn of Drahoslav and Raven’s romance, as they navigate their growing feelings and the consequences of their love, is emotionally intense and absolutely addictive.
What also struck me was the immense stakes of their love—if Drahoslav regains his wings, he must return to Heaven, leaving Raven forever. And that’s not even factoring in the chaos of ghosts and dark forces plotting in the shadows. The emotional conflict here is real, and I was constantly torn between hoping for their love to survive and dreading the potential heartbreak that looms.
Sánchez has created a world that feels rich with lore—a place where love is both a weapon and a curse, and where divine punishment and redemption aren’t just abstract concepts but very real and dangerous. The themes of forbidden love, sacrifice, and the cost of redemption are explored in such a compelling, tragic way that I couldn’t help but become emotionally invested in the characters’ fates.
If you love enemies-to-lovers, forbidden romance, and a gothic fantasy where angels, demons, and ghosts clash over matters of the heart, this book is a must-read. Fans of books like Hush Hush and From Blood and Ash will feel right at home here, but The Soul Thief stands out with its unique blend of dark magic, angelic drama, and a love story that will tear you apart before it puts you back together.
I can’t wait for more from this series. Drahoslav and Raven’s story is far from over, and I’ll be eagerly waiting to see how their journey unfolds.
Silvana Sanchez delivers a gripping and darkly enchanting tale with The Soul Thief, pulling us deeper into the world of Vesely Academy—where angels, werewolves, vampires, and shifters collide in a heady mix of love, betrayal, and magic. If you think you’ve seen it all in the realm of magical academies, think again. Vesely is in a league of its own.
This time, the story follows Drahoslav after his fall from grace, and oh, what a fall it is. His encounter with Raven sets off a chain reaction of drama, heartbreak, and sacrifice. The stakes are high, the emotions even higher, and just when you think you’ve figured out who’s good and who’s evil—think again. Sanchez masterfully blurs those lines, keeping readers deliciously on edge.
The novel brims with suspense, dark magic, and exquisitely flawed characters who, despite everything, still seek love, friendship, and redemption. The emotional depth is undeniable, weaving tragedy and hope into a narrative that refuses to let go. And that final cliffhanger? Let’s just say patience is about to become my least favorite virtue.
If you’re craving a paranormal read that’s as rich in drama as it is in atmosphere, The Soul Thief is your next obsession. Just be prepared to sell your soul for the next installment.
Vesely Academy: A Paranormal Academy Series (Book 1): The Soul Thief by Silvana G. Sanchez introduces us to a world where angels, werewolves, vampires and shifters come together in an exciting paranormal tale of love, betrayal, magic and evil. As we begin the story, we are introduced to Drahoslav, a man who lost his wings after pulling a soul from hell. It's very moving to read about him losing his wings and how he experiences his new human senses. When he finds himself in a lake near Vesely Academy, he meets our FMC Raven. With a sense of connection and a desire to learn more, Raven offers Drahoslav a job in the school's library. Soon, Raven learns that he has lost his wings, and he is determined to help him regain them. I am a new fan of Silvana G. Sanchez. Her ability to capture each character's essence is incredible. Chef kiss of evil embodies Raven's brother. I'll continue this series in the future.

The prequel “Academy of Extraordinary Creatures” was gripping and interestingly written, which is why I was really looking forward to reading the first book in the Vesely Academy: A Paranormal Academy Mini Series and I was definitely not disappointed. The story captivated me from the very beginning and I devoured this book in no time. The storytelling by Silvana G. Sánchez is simply gripping and fantastically written, so that you don't want to put the book down. The characters are relatable and well developed. First off - I prefer this cover to the cover on Goodreads. I think it is more appealing to the eye. It's just a prettier cover.
Silvana Sanchez has carved out for herself a place in the paranormal/YA genre. And she has done so by consistently creating books that have great characters, strong plot lines and good world building.
This book is no different and as the first book in the Vesely Academy series I can't wait to read the rest.
The characters are well developed and likable. The plot is well developed and thought out.

A gripping blend of dark academia, fallen angels, and forbidden love, The Soul Thief is a supernatural page-turner that had me hooked from the start. Drahoslav’s fall from grace and complicated connection with Raven Bryson makes for a compelling, emotional journey. The suspense is constant—ghosts, secrets, and necromancer schemes keep the tension high.
The author captures each character’s essence so vividly, you feel their inner struggles and desires with every turn. If you love paranormal romance with danger, depth, and divine consequences, this one's for you.

the instaLove was more than instantaneous which I thought there'd be some sort of explanation as to why they both felt drawn to one another- except there was nothing written more in depth to make sense of their attraction to each other. they met and immediately were confessing their love and willingness to die for each other. Even in fantasy something like love needs to feel somewhat believable but there was nothing believable about the love between these two especially given that there was no explanation for this sudden lovefest. the book has a lot promising aspects. the ending felt rushed and lacking. it seems book 2 follows Kade's POV which is great, but im left feeling disappointed.

I couldn’t put this book down, this dark fantasy was so easy to follow yet gripping and left me wanting more and more. It had emotional depth that creeps up on you, a slow burn! It may have taken my soul too! First time reading with this author and I really liked her writing. I love the magic system because it wasn’t just dumped on you. It was easy to follow and understand. From the first page, I was intrigued, I will definitely be reading more from this author and series!!.

This story is different from what I have read of Silvana's as the main character Drahoslav is a fallen angel who finds himself now in a world of paranormals with varying magics. Raven is taken with him and he with her, and the plot revolves around what awaits them. Yes, the story is dark, but in that lush Gothic velvet way. The descriptions are on point and you get wrapped up in this dark supernatural world, hoping for the best, not knowing what is coming next. A great read in the dark with candles glowing!.

Drahoslav started out as an Angel, a Guardian, who allowed a vampire to talk him into stealing a soul from Hell. Now he is shamed, stripped of his wings, and wants to find a way to earn it all back. However, he didn’t count on meeting Raven, a crow shifter, who wants to help him. Will falling for her change his plans? Will evil dark forces in the Academy succeed in tearing apart their relationship?
I luv this series! The prequel was FANtastic and this is book 1. It totally lives up to expectations. The characters are so well written and likeable. Plot exciting and intriguing and well paced. World building continues to excel and impress. Can't wait for more of this world. Recommend.

This book broke all my expectations. I assumed after reading the blurb and seeing the cover, I was in for "shadow daddy" vibes. Instead, I was met with something deeper and more intense. The Soul Thief isn't just about romance; the world Silvana G. Sanchez has created is captivating, and it's easy to see she loves to write; it oozes onto the page. A great read it your wanting something lush and lyrical.
After reading the Unnatural Brethren, I had to dive into this. Not only do I love Silvana's writing, but her covers are to die for! They are so beautiful. With this one, everything is perfect. The cover, the story, the characters. Raven and Drahoslav as separate characters are amazing. From the start, im pulled in. I finished this book so quickly. Between the plot and how Raven's and Drahoslav's story was told, made it so easy to get through. I need to get to the other books ASAP.
After reading the prequel I decided to give the first book in the series a try and was not disappointed. It follows the prequel nicely, although it could also be read directly. Excellent character work, especially concerning Draho the fallen angel. I liked the dynamic between Raven and her brother too. Quick to read and fast paced, this is a fun read and a good first book in a series.
