Chasing Normal: My Peer Group Design for Living with Bipolar

Rate this book
This is the story of a bipolar, biracial Ivy League graduate who manages his mental health by helping others improve theirs. This is a very intriguing read about acute observations made by an intelligent person with bipolar disorder during their time in college, hospitals, working in Finance in NY and a complicated upbringing. You feel like you’re Michael’s friend he’s speaking with at dinner. Some mental health books can be a bit clinical, this is the opposite, lots of sharp wit and sarcasm. Highly recommended!

When you identify certain behavior types of those around you, it will draw you in, you’ll be intrigued to learn more. When identify yourself in the described behaviors you’ll laugh out-loud. The method used in this book, based on various historical anecdotes of the writer is an effective communication method.

This was an interesting perspective. I really enjoyed both the author's personal experience, and the description of the disorders discussed within. It made me more empathetic to those around me that are going through something similar.
