Alan Brightman, an education advocate who has devoted his career to improving the lives of kids and young adults with disabilities, skillfully guides you to an answer in this extraordinary collection of revealing stories and essays. Connections: In The Land of Disability may at times make you angry and at times make you laugh, but it will always make you think.
Like a collection of TED talks, this book is content with raising more questions than it addresses. Its ephemeral structure is stocked with well written ideas, anecdotes and whimsy which rarely string a thought more than a page at a time. With such a capable writer in command of his subject, it’s hard to imagine why the author decided to tread so carefully as to avoid exploring his thoughts, experiences and beliefs more deeply.
