This latest title in the Frankie Potts detective series is another amusing tale of intrigue and confusing clues.

Frankie Potts is always on the lookout for mysteries to solve. And there appears to be plenty of problems in her small village of Tring. This time, some black-clad villains with blue-painted faces and tingling bells, called the Wicked Wolves, seem intent on no-good. Also, why does Frankie’s grandmother, the Marvellous M, want to pick a fight with the Wicked Wolves?

To add to the confusion, Frankie’s dog Sparkplug has fathered a litter of pups to Tinkerbell, one of Marvellous M’s greyhounds. Now there are too many pups running riot and four of the pups are about to be given away to new owners. But Frankie doesn’t want to give away her favourite pup, Kettle Thomson, whom she wants to keep forever. She begins to search for good homes for the others, although it’s not easy.

Black-and-white illustrations add interest to the storyline. The diverse band of characters keep the storyline moving along at a fast pace with plenty of mysterious happenings.

Books in the series would make an excellent gift for primary school students who enjoy a good read.

Frankie Potts #4
Fourth and seemingly final Frankie Potts book, although it seemed like it could continue on, anyway an average read, with the same issues as with the previous books.
