You’re here to thwart imposter syndrome and find yourself as a programmer, whether your title currently reflects it or not. You’re here to climb in your career. To get that job or that raise. To build a better product. To have impact. To survive during a recession or depression. Or maybe, even, to regain some excitement for your career. You want the skills to master your programming career, over and over. Because the industry and the market changes too much to truly ‘master’ it all. You need to learn to learn in order to succeed. It’s what we all need to do. There is a problem You feel overwhelmed by all the information out there. You are bombarded by resources and don’t know what to focus on. And when you do choose and when you do sit down with your book or device, you find you can’t focus. There are so many libraries, frameworks, languages, and tools to learn. Everywhere you look, there is something new potentially revolutionizing the industry. But for some reason, that hour you set aside to learn each day resulted in eating two bowls of Raisin Bran Crunch on your couch. After all this time not learning, you spot a job listing at a dream company. But their skill requirements cast it’s a laundry list of skills, frameworks, and libraries that you don’t know. You ask yourself if you are already obsolete. You’ve been doing this for years or months, but why does it still feel like day one? You already did the bootcamp, had a tech job, or got the computer science degree, but here we are again, overwhelmed by all we do not know. But there is a solution to these problems. I’m Miranda, founder of Books on Code, which is a platform for software developers on a quest to find joy in learning. I am also owner of all of the emotions described above at various points in my career. Overwhelm, imposter syndrome, and the pressure to learn it all are our career’s greatest challenges. I am here to not only empower you to transform your career for the better, but to bring catharsis to the emotions that come with the programming career path. I am here to equip you with not just the tools to learn, but the Programmer Mindset. While we’re here, we might as well have fun, too.
