Wild for You is a cute romance about … well nothing really. Recent widower, William, impetuously flees to an abandoned farm he’s been given in order to escape his grief from the death of his husband and the apparent demise of his writing career. His goal is to “rewild” the farm in order to fulfill his late husband’s dream, and he has convinced himself that he has to do it all by himself, without any help even when offered to him by his very good-looking and well-meaning neighbor, Luke. There’s a lot of wheel-spinning with each character trapped in the same routine that then repeats over and over throughout the book. William is unreasonably stubborn and guilt-stricken. Luke feels abandoned by his parents and refuses to form any lasting relationships with anyone, except his younger sister who he lives with and practically raised. The dialogue and interaction between the MCs doesn’t really progress beyond these two states for most of the book. Unfortunately, the MCs aren’t given dimension and we are told what they feel and what we should feel about it, instead of the words making us feel something for them or what’s happening around and to them. There’s also incongruity in their actions and reactions which makes them seem less real - their reactions just aren’t consistent with what we expect based upon how they’ve previously acted, and that’s frustrating and disconcerting. In terms of content, the MCs are likeable if flat, there’s not much plot or angst, and very little in the way of sex, but they get a HEA, so there’s that. All in all, it’s a nice story, but if you are looking for action, depth or emotions, look elsewhere.

Little Parcel of Happiness. That’s how romance novels are referred to in this totally old-school, but somehow perfect m/m romance from Liam Livings, one of my favorite writers in this genre. And “Wild for You,” drugstore cover and all, pushed all my buttons in just the right way.

William and Luke are the mismatched duo: city boy and farm boy; slim twink and big hairy muscle guy. They are the best possible cliché, and in a move that endeared me completely, they acknowledge it beforehand in the story. This whole book is very meta, with lot of references to the kind of book these men are at the center of.

William, you see, is a writer of gay romance novels. He was given a tumbledown farm in rural England by his in-laws—after his husband’s untimely death. But it is not just his grief that has driven him to the all-but-abandoned farm next to Luke’s; there was a humiliating fracas with his so-called community of romance writers, after which he feels singled out betrayed by people he thought were his friends. This is also very meta.

William is as single-minded and clueless as only an urban romance writer consumed with grief could be. He and his beloved Adam had dreamed of “rewilding” a rural spot together. Now Williams is determined to do it. Alone. In spite of the neighbors and their interference and/or offers of help.

Luke is the archetype of the lonely farm boy, having run his family farm since he was 18 and his mother ran off to pursue her dreams in London, leaving his father broken. Luke, however, has found a community of sorts in social media, where his gym-and-farm-muscled body has attracted plenty of validation to ease his loneliness.

It is not opposites attract exactly, because the twink-meets-muscle-man trope is too powerful in gay fantasies to be dismissed that simply. Both William and Luke are archetypes of gay hotness. William is an irritating young man, blind to everything but his mourning-fueled vision. Luke, oddly enough, is the patient one, understanding something of William’s situation even before he knows the facts. But Luke is also not willing to abandon his real-life community (rural farmers like him and his family) for the tragic romance of this city boy.

Luke, as is imperative, is wounded, too, and isn’t fully aware of it. For all his masculine beauty and online following, he doesn’t fully believe in his worthiness because of the life that happened to him when he was a teenager and his sister was just a child.

Instant attraction between William and Luke can’t just ignore real hurt, and this is the tool that Liam Livings uses to frustrate his readers into a near frenzy.

Well done, that.

All in all, a classic romance with all of the good things that a gifted story-teller can bring to it.

By the way, “dungarees” to an American of my age (old) was simply another term for blue jeans. We do call full-body bibbed work jeans “overalls” rather than dungarees, but some of us remember the original term for blue jeans before every body wore them.

OK, so I’ve got to confess to being a tiny bit disappointed in Wild For you, having read other work by this author and it blowing me away. That said, Wild for You is not a bad book by any means. It’s a very sweet, easy to read, angst-free romance in a rural setting.

The plotline is quite simple in that it follows the pull the two main characters feel towards each other, despite neither of them thinking they want a relationship. William has taken on the property with the intention of ‘rewilding’ it to fulfil his late husband’s dream, whilst Luke (the owner of the farm ‘next door’) does his best to try to help William whilst keeping the peace with the other neighbouring farmers, etc. Aside from William’s major guilt about betraying his husband’s memory and Luke’s emotional hangover from events in his early family life and the fact that both men have a stubborn streak a mile wide, there isn’t much depth to the characters so I found it hard to engage with them. I also felt that this made their actions at the end a bit unbalanced or they didn’t quite fit the character profile – there’s a lot of push and pull from both men centring on the same themes (the guilt/emotional hangover I’ve already referred to) throughout the majority of the book, so the ‘big gesture’ at the end just felt like a complete 180. So my conclusion is that Wild For You is a nice way to spend a couple of hours, but this author has written much better books. 3*

A slow burn, opposites-attract romance.

'Wild for you' is a tale of overcoming grief, insecurities, finding oneself and opening up to the idea of accepting a second chance at love. The tale takes place in the bucolic settings of a farming village as a grieving and clueless William sets forth to carry out his late husband's wish of rewilding their farm property.

As he tries his best to settle and get started on his project, he faces opposition from the locals with only his neighbour-Luke, a kind hearted, helpful and insanely attractive (lumberjack vibes) farmer, willing to help.

Though William comes off as rude and a little closed off at the start (he is quite mean to Luke at times), we do see the reason behind his demeanor and his sorrow as the story progresses. Luke is a  sweetheart and is utterly supportive of William at every stage. Their chemistry works well and the push and pull nature of their flirting is adorable to read.

Overall it makes for a good opposites-attract romance that would make for an enjoyable afternoon read.

Not even a little wild for this one...
As much as I dislike to leave a bad review, I just had to get it out of my system, thus my review.  I enjoy a good MM romance with a slow burn theme, because although it's a slow burn romance, eventually the two MC will finally come together and sparks will fly!  But not for Wild For You, not even a little bit.  I felt that this story just fell short, right from the beginning, you can already tell the two main MC were just not meant to be.  One of them is trying to get over mourning his dead husband by living out his dead husband's dream?  And the other has issues with love and marriage due to his own parents' failed marriage.  Neither of them show that they are moving past their demons to have a brighter future and to find love.

Unfortunately, Wild For You was a no go for me.  It was very difficult for me to try and finish this book.  Maybe this author will come out with something better but I won't pick it up to read.

I received an ARC copy, in exchanged for my honest review, of this title for Gay Romance Reviews.

This was a sweet story about two men that felt a connection, but because of their pasts, they fought it tooth and nail (as long as they could, anyways). Sometimes love finds you when you’re not looking, but first some old demons and new hurts had to be dealt with.

I felt like this book had a lot going for it, but there were some things I would change. I wish the conversation, towards the end (in the bathtub), would’ve gone differently. I don’t want to spoil anything. It does mention Luke’s social media presence in the blurb, though. I just feel like this was a perfect moment for them to be able to completely move forward, but one character didn’t take the opportunity. I was shocked, but I realize that could just be me. To each their own. Social media is a huge thing, and certain social medias are quite popular, if you know what I mean?

All in all, this was a good read. The characters were likable, and the words flowed easily.

Liam Living's Wild For You is a good neighbors romance.

William and Luke are new neighbors. William is new to town, still grieving the loss of his ex husband and hoping to fulfill a dream. Luke and sister Charlotte live next door.

This is a story that starts with assumptions and a man who's not wanted in town. It's a story full of stubbornness, frustration, and pride. William's inability to ask for or accept help is maddening. But I enjoy the way Luke sets out to help William, despite the neighbors not wanting him and the change he's bringing.

Several things lead this story. William is trying to make changes to his farm that the town doesn't want. And then there's the issue of the developing feelings between him and Luke. It all adds up to be an interesting story with some good conflict.

Wild For You is a slow burn romance as one struggles to accept a second chance at love. Liam Livings entertains in this tale of facing fears and grabbing onto love.

Sweet "will they, won't they" romance

William is very much a fish out of water when he turns up at a farm that needs more attention that he knows how to give it. His very hot neighbour, Luke steps in to help him, even though William's ideas are at odds with what Luke wants.

The two guys are back and forth in their actions, even though they are clearly attracted to each other. We're treated to both sides of the story with the guys in their own narrative giving reason to what they are looking for and why it's not happening. It was an interesting tale for someone getting over the loss of a loved one, and someone who has been hurt before.

I enjoyed this story, although the end came quickly it was a sweet read.

Wild for You by Liam Livings is my first book by this author. The love interest is between Luke, farmer, keen bodybuilder and Only Fans page owner, and William, recently widowed, escaping to the country to rewild a farm, next door to Luke’s, to complete what his husband had wanted to do.

Luke enjoys hook-ups and is not interested in a relationship because of his parents’ failed marriage. William is still grieving the death of his husband.

While neither seems interested in a relationship and there is a fair bit of toing and froing between them, but it would not be a romantic story if they did not finally fall in love.

Wild for You was an easy pleasant read.

A slow burn but really sweet book.
William is still mourning the loss of his husband Adam, and is desperate to put in place the plans they made for rewilding a small farm left to Adam’s parents, now gifted to William.
Luke’s farm shares a boundary with William’s and as he gets to know his neighbour he has concerns about what William is trying to do and what the other farmers will say or do.
William resists Luke’s help as much as possible but Luke just helps anyway.
I loved all the main characters in this book.

This book is filled with opposites attract, instagram and lots of back and forth.

William is trying to make a go of it and meeting Luke disrupts his plans.
The book was a lot of fun as both men tried to deny their attraction to the other. Liam has a way of writing that draws you in. He takes snapshots of lives and writes them so vividly.

You’ll have fun imagining Luke with his overalls and William drooling.

William is bitter at life and love. He has a farm that he doesn't really know what he is doing with and a broken heart from the death of his husband. Luke is ready to write him off as a fool but finds himself trying to get to know him instead of drive him off. They both have secrets and have to learn to trust people again. A sweet story. I liked the book. I loved the side character of Luke's sister Charlotte.

I received an ARC of this book for my honest review. The story never caught my attention and I couldn't finish reading it. William and Luke's story just didn't do it for me. William is wanting to finish his dead husband's dream but doesn't have a clue what he's doing and Luke is more worried about how many likes he can get on social media for his working out videos.

A nice contemporary read.

Like puzzle pieces William and Luke fit. It just takes time for both to realize they're meant for each other.
Unsubstantiated assumptions about the other lead both William and Luke on a merry but muddled up romantic connection. This was a nice light read for me. I received an ARC of this book through GRR for my honest review.

This is new to me Author, one I’m not sure whether I read a lot of books by. There is nothing inherently wrong with the writing, characters or world building it was all good. The storyline was lovely and sweet if a little bland but it didn’t grip me, it was nice, there was nothing wrong, it just didn’t blow my sock off, it was a nice hurt/comfort story.
To sum up this is Nice.

I enjoyed the setting of this book immensely and was eager to get all the detail on it the author could provide. The two main characters were nice guys who fit perfectly into the promised slow burn, opposites attract tropes. The angst level is low and this is a great summer afternoon romance read.

This is a nice romance. A widower who needs to “wild” a farm and his very built neighbor who doesn’t do relationships but they attract each other. It’s a slow burn, with cute moments.
