The finale to the Zombies! series brings all the players together for one epic final battle. It's a fast paced slug fest to see if a new world will be born out of the ashes of the old or if the old ways will finally destroy mankind for good. A messy, bloody, dirty battle that has to be fought. Kyler struggles through the final stages of a second mission where his leadership once again seeks to leverage his survivor instincts as well as the brand seared into the flesh on his back. Randy and Kelly roll the dice to see if they can win their daughters a new life in a new world. Krantz sinks further and further into a hell of his own manufacture.
Living in a lighthouse as a child led me early to a love of reading. Despite what you may have been told the life of a lighthouse keeper's son is not all Glamour and Parties. There's a lot of time when there really isn't much to do besides wonder if the fog horn has finally made you deaf or watch your dad pull fishing lures out of different parts of people's bodies. (You'd be amazed!)
Two of my favorite houses growing up!
I read. I read a lot. We had a 'reading caterpillar' around the room at my school where every time you read a book you put your name on your color paper and hung it up. The teacher had to give me two colors because it was looking more like a worm than a caterpillar. I devoured CS Lewis before moving on to Tolkien. Reading has continued to be a big part of my life. I've moved into Alternative Realities by guys like Stirling and my guilty pleasure is Zombie novels. I can't seem to get enough of them!
I like reading about the extremes people will go to to survive. The ones who can rise above the rest and keep their sense of right and wrong. When humanity crumbles around them these flawed heroes stand tall and try to make their way. They go from struggling to pay the phone bill to struggling to keep themselves and others alive. I like to see how this either hardens or breaks them. I think these stories speak at a very primal level. I enjoy the journey greatly as I get to tag along seeing how the survivors manage and how the experience forges them into something more than they were.
I look forward to sharing the journey with you all!
Thank you so much to those of you who've been reading these reviews and the accompanying books. I truly appreciate all the kind reviews and feedback I've received from you all.
Writing a series concerning the end of the world due to the consequences of an unchecked pandemic has been interesting of late. The way the government and everyone else react to certain stimuli has led me to believe that real life can be way less believable than fiction . I had to stop watching the news because it was giving me too many ideas for new books. That's not a good thing!
We will persevere and get through this just like we have so many times before. That's really my favorite kind of story. The ones where people get beat into the dirt then they get back up and take another swing at their attacker. I love to root for the little guy. I cheered out loud the first time I saw Rudy get to run out on the field dressed to play.
It's why the David and Goliath parable is so powerful. Most people picture themselves as David in that story. I think it'd be really interesting to get the perspective of people who instead think of themselves more like Goliath when they first hear it. I digress.
Book 7 of the Zombies! series is the finale. The last nail in the coffin of a story that depicts the heroism of a pair of parents willing to do anything for their children. As always I stayed true to letting the different characters decide the course of the action. I watched through their eyes as they made their choices then dealt with the consequence of those choices. The choices reflect the range of what it's like to be human. Some will frustrate you while I hope others may inspire.
Base emotions mix with the actions of everyday people who become accidental heroes through their actions. I hope you all enjoy reading this as much as I enjoyed writing it.
Until the next one (which is already swirling around in my head and screaming to get out) I wish you all the best. I'm confident we'll all survive the next few news cycles and that no matter what we'll still be standing :-)
Be Safe! Wash your hands and try not to spread anything except love! I need everyone happy, healthy, and with enough money in the bank to splurge on my next series when it eventually hits the virtual shelves!
THANK YOU ALL FOR YOU SUPPORT. IT MEANS THE WORLD TO ME!
The final book in the Zombies! series is perfect. I just love how it all comes together. I recommend this series and would give it 10 stars if it was pissible.
I loved this series! What I did not love was that in every single book, and I read them all, the author uses the term "baklava" when he clearly meant "balaclava", and the thought that a bunch of soldiers were running around wearing pastry on their faces really failed to amuse after the third book .
Great read ,just finished the last in the series, one after the other, good characters always hoping for them to survive, lost a few along the way, but a nice way to spend some time.
All of these books are written in a fast paced style. His descriptions are hilarious and bring some laughter in some stressful situations. I have stayed up way too late reading every night this week.
There is a God! Didn't see that coming. Bitter-sweet ending that came to the end sooner, and a journey that were scary and happy when the characters journeyed from one state to another. There's still some good in man, albeit the rotten ones have grown too many and I'd wish that one day we can all get along.
Wishing the characters and the author, his family and his staff all the best on to the next epic battle of the undead!!
I enjoyed this series. Constant action, heartfelt characters. It pulled me into the story from the first book. Happy to see what the ending was yet sad to see them end.
Interesting story and plot lines. It also doesn't over rely on guns as is the usual in these zombie stories. There's also an attempt to make the characters more than just 2D gun toting figures.
The author creates his own universe of zombies and the rules and for the most part sticks to them. My main complaint is poor editing and proofreading. Lots of typos. Work on that.
I devoured the books like the infected ate people. There were a few moments I had to put the books down so I could give myself a moment. I loved the family, and started getting more anxious with each new book. By the 7th book, I couldn't sleep until I was done. Now I'm left with a dilemma... What do I read next?
Over all a good story. Action, family, zombies/infected, and love. There are a few spelling and edit issues, but it didn't detract from the series.
Loved loved the books read the first one and didn't stop until I read them all ,only one minor complaint was they needed to be proofed better ,can't wait until the next series
Loved the series but was annoyed with some of the editing. The Smoky Mountains are misstated and times where Kyler’s name was used instead of Randy’s but all in all, a very good series....
What an I say this was a fun fast gunning series full of smiles and head shakes ,if you have delayed reading this series get to it ! It was a great adventure !
What I loved about this series, was that it had the same “heart and humour” of Zournal, but at the same time, was different. So well written and so vivid. Think I need a little epilogue though. :-)
Having read alot of similar books, this one did not make me want to discontinue the series due to boring dialogue or senseless cruelty to children. Although, the one episode in the school almost did it. The characters were endearing and the heroes heartwarming. Can't wait to read more by this author.
I must say that I was not sure how this would end but I am completely satisfied. The journey through this series was exciting, at times sad but mostly heart stopping. I love the end to this incredible ride.
I started the series with the idea of just another zombie book to veg out so the Ambien could kick in. To my SURPRISE I kept reading. Even the next day skipping some work here and there forgot about Netflix dropping a series I watch. Plus was wonderfully happy with the ending. I highly recommend this series.
This whole series is filled with unbelievable horrors and sadness, but through it all one young man and one family do everything in their power to keep hope, and one another, alive.
What an amazing series. There was little stories within each book. I personally think that the killing of the Senator could have been more detailed and exciting but what do I know!!! I really hope you continue this series. It could go such a long way! Happy Thanksgiving 😀
Great story of the evil of men and the greatness of men.
This whole series had me on the edge of my seat and I could not stop reading. I devoured it like one of the infected. The characters were the best part, you loved some and even saw yourself in some of them. You also hated some and couldn’t wait until they died. The only bad part about the whole thing is there will not be another book.
Enjoyed the entire series! The finale was excellent and I highly suggest reading them all! Exciting, easy reads...you become so connected with each main character.
This is a review for the 7 book series. Great story , I like the growth of the characters and the humor built in while obviously being scared to death in a zombie apocalypse world.
Really great series. Good story line and lots of action. I will say that some of the characters names were mixed up in some parts which had you rereading what you had just read . They only down side for me is the series has ended . I would definitely recommend that you read this series.
Really enjoyed this series. The ending was a little rushed and left me wanting more, but I get it. The series is long. And the ending was satisfying even though I felt like the last couple of chapters could have been a whole new volume. This is not a complaint. I just got really invested in the characters and wanted more.
Moving on to Crawlerz because I can’t get enough of R.S. Merritt and his zombie stories.
