She lands in California and learns more about how the Club operates. The Salton Sea House is more of a spa and therapy ranch than a house of ill repute. They take in Riley Austin, an abused runaway from Philadelphia. She evaluates the young woman and finds her work more rewarding than ever. In Honolulu, she gets a surprise snack and a mystery to solve. The Paolos pick her up in Venice, and the Contessa’s health is waning. Collette arranges a private party for the grand dame of the Condio Club, and even the bosses who don’t like her cannot help but be impressed. Just as Collette hits her stride and has the Assessment process licked, she finds a new snag in the form of Milo. He looks like a European version of her ex-boyfriend Jeremy, and Collette is sunk. The Milan Assessment takes her longer than anyone expected, due to distraction or desire, no one can say. But she leaves Italy with a smile on her face and song in her pants. In Monaco, Collette finds a posh nightlife and an old friend, before it’s onto Paris. Song, the local boss and Jeremy’s ex-fling, notices Collette noticing her star dancer, Amantine. But before anything can happen with the gorgeous woman, Collette is distracted by a torrid hunt for closure. After such a grueling experience, she craves a bit of peace and quiet at home.
