I have always loved science a nature so I can't help writing science fiction and eco-magic stories. My current series, ("Molly's Magical Adventures"), was written for anyone between the ages of 7 and 107. The books in this series take readers on exciting journeys through caves, volcanos and the jungle where Molly and Michael make some strange discoveries. Readers get to experience the people, places and animals through the curious mind of Molly Marsh and her extraordinary way of perceiving the world.
Yosia's Magic by V.K. May, also found on BookFunnel as Magic:A Short Story, is a great fantasy that would be excellent expanded into a novel. Since it is just a few pages long, there isn't much of a plot but the two main characters are captivating! Both seem to have a touch of magic. One a young girl and one a tall man that will be helping the family for a year. The two seem to click too. Would love to read more about these two!
A very lovely short story, Magic by V.K. May tells of a ten year old's plane trip to New Guinea with her parents and a few days following. This little girl has a vivid imagination and intense curiosity. Upon arriving at the airport after a very bumpy flight, a beautiful blue butterfly lands on her nose and tells her she's really going to like it there. There are so many strange things and people in her new home and she experiences them in her very own way. She encounters a boy around her age who has just caught a beautiful blue butterfly in his net. She insists he let it go, but he refuses. The problem is he does not see the butterfly as magically as she does. He's a collector. She knows that the beautiful blue butterfly must be allowed to live and is horrified to see his bedroom walls covered with his collection.
You will love how this situation is resolved. It is magical!
I would describe this book as a short story that could easily be developed into a full-length novel.
Molly Marsh is a curious ten-year-old whose parents are off on a scientific expedition to New Guinea. Her trepidation begins with a bumpy plane ride. Molly is enchanted when a beautiful blue butterfly alights on her. When the family arrives at their new home, Molly meets Yosia, who will be working for them in their new jungle home. She is intrigued by him. At first his strange habits scare her. Then she learns about his magical talents.
These two characters are interesting and could be developed in a fuller narrative. I consider the adventure book a short, chapter book. It is well-written with challenging vocabulary that is most appropriate for nine to twelve-year-old readers.

This is a sweet, magical story told from the perspective of a little girl. I was never so care free, kind, and imaginative when I was young, so it felt refreshing to put myself in those shoes. There's not huge character development, no moral dilemma - right and wrong are clear - and there's very little conflict. But the story made me feel good. I would like to read more from this author.
Let's fly!! Cute little story this one!! I too can remember a time I had a hero-Super Girl!! And oh what a time we had-- oh I digress!-- I was looking for a cute little story for reading time with my youngest granddaughter, and I found it here in this story..She loved it We're in the process of picking out our next read..so we've decided to pause a minute and enjoy a "spot of tea and cookies" as our reward....P/
I enjoyed this, it's only a short story really but it's quite enchanting with some fun touches. I love the "rude fairy" on Molly's favourite jeans and the winking face in the flower on the hat of the flight attendant. These are touches of magic that make the book come alive. I'd love to see this expanded as a full length book.
I am 34, and I love this story. For a moment, I can be a happy, dreamy girl who sees magic all around her. I never got to be that in real life, so it is refreshing to be that for just a moment in this story.
