Stuart Edison thought he’d built a foolproof underground fortress that could survive any apocalypse.

Unfortunately for him and his community, he was wrong.

As their resources dwindle and hunger gangs swarm the landscape, a ruthless militant faction led by the infamous Simon Frost threatens them. He has the muscle and the firepower to take over and change the fate of humanity forever.

But the trouble doesn’t end there.

Edison’s biggest threat will come from within when a traitor rises from the shadows and sets a trap to take control in an all-out mutiny.

The Last Outpost is a classic struggle of good versus evil, except you won’t know which side is which.

The Event ended the world - almost.

The Event - the simultaneous eruption of 91 volcanoes around the planet. Thick clouds of ash filled the skies like a blanket, blocking the Sun's light and heat. Result - a mini Ice Age. A frozen world where everything died. And anyone. The weak and the helpless were the first to go. Hunger gangs roamed the cities, killing and robbing everyone and every place they encountered. Desperate and starving, some resorted to cannibalism, becoming Scabs - animalistic and dangerous survivors who hunted in packs. Other groups of survivors found ways to shelter, ways to scavenge supplies from surrounding buildings.

Eventually the sun broke through and the world began to slowly warm. A young girl named Summer was a Seeker, a scavenger who searched an area for consumables and needed supplies. Summer is the heart of the story as is the deserted missile silo refitted into living quarters, led by an idealistic old man known as the Professor. The characters are three dimensional, instantly recognized as family and friends, or as enemies and foes. The storyline for this post-apocalyptic dystopian world is dramatic, believable and enough action to keep me glued to the pages late into the night.

Fantastic series!

**NOTE** This review is for books 1-3

I really enjoyed this series. I loved the plot, the characters and everything in between.
I loved that this series was written in multiple POV’s. The characters were unique, the women were strong and confident. The banter between the characters was actually quite fun, even between the bad guys.
After the “Event” it’s every man, woman, child and other things for themselves. Trying to determine which group is the strongest, smartest or luckiest is anyones guess.
The only problem I had was this, even though the ending was great, there was still a key aspect of this story that didn’t actually close. When I got close to the end I actually started looking for book 4 (which doesn’t exist btw) because there was more story to be told. 🤷🏻‍♀️
Gary Tiedemann is a new narrator to me and I’m already looking for more of his work.
The way he performed these characters was brilliant. It was easy to tell who was speaking just but the way he portrayed each character. Well done!
This was a box set books 1-3. I highly recommend this series!

The first book has interesting world building. Stop reading there. Unfortunately, the dialogue and character consistency gets progressively worse as the series goes on. The ending of the series relies on cartoonishly improbable coincidences.

Great read!

I found the characters and pace of the varying storylines engaging. I look forward to reading the continued saga of The Lane’s and survivors. We have to find out what happens with Craven & Wilma and their genetically modified “scabs”!
But more so about how they all manage to rebuild a new society at Cheyenne Mountain Complex in Colorado Springs, Colorado great place for hunting & fishing and cleaner air.
Plus Summer & Hope have via for Simms affection. Krista needs to command and train her new army of serving civilians they find along the trek from Wyoming to Colorado.
I look forward to more of Jay. - Great read! Angie

Post apocalyptic terror

What happens when the world is on the brink of total annihilation and the worst of humanity lives on with just a few good people that still have hope. Appreciated the unique story
