Books in this series offer a window into life in the past, showing how things have changed over time. In 'Edificiones,' children compare buildings in the past to buildings today. Books include primary sources as well photographs of modern buildings.
A cute "then" vs. "now" mostly photographic exploration of buildings through the ages. The single illustration is of cave people, though it reinforces the likely inaccurate idea that cave paintings were done only by men. Almost all the rest of the photos compare an old(-fashioned) building to a newer one. (No photos of cave people, are there!)
It's a nice idea, but I want to nitpick the line about "Long ago some buildings had stairs." Well, uh, for safety reasons, ALL buildings more than one story tall have stars! I'd add "...had only stairs" to make that a little better comparison piece to "Today some buildings have escalators."
Still a good educational piece for younger readers, though I don't know if I would go out of my way to buy a copy (mine is from a free library).
