I’m a big Mark Roeder fan. I’ve read nearly every one of his books which has cost me a fortune, but entirely worth it.

This is a refreshing departure from the characters and events in Verona, IN and Indiana University to the golden age of Hollywood in the ‘50s.

One thing I really appreciate about this book is that none of the characters have any similarity to the Verona and Bloomington characters where some of if the secondary characters have almost identical personalities. There is still the trademark Roeder repartee but at least there’s no “grrr” or “fist in palm” action.

The ending was a bit abrupt. What did Adam and Clifford do with the rest of their lives? What became of little brother Monte?

There could have been a sequel to this book - the continuing adventures of Adam and Clifford - like what Roeder did with Brendan and Casper, but Roeder decided to age out the characters so I guess there won’t be a book 2.

Due to an error in the novels not being labeled correctly, I read Book 4 first and found myself lost. Realizing there were three prior to that I’m backing up and going through the series again to see if that improves my confusion.

I’m a sucker for coming of age but for any sci-fi plot twist, which I know the later novels will cover, but this was fine as it was. Little action and lots of description. This was a day-in-the-life, relaxing background material, but did its job nicely.
