I’m mixed on this book, I kinda liked the story overall but I do t think it was well executed as a whole. It felt too complicated on the explanation of the relationship and was overly slow to start. It also wasn’t made clear it was going to be religion heavy in its fantasy which is off putting for me, I’m not against religion per se as it fills most books in one way or another, but the complete shift in this book was unexpected and far too heavy by the end it being all religion and not any fantasy really. Actually I’ve realised I’m not as mixed as I thought as I’ve written the review, an ok story, nice characters, but just not for me on the whole

I must admit that when I picked up “Between Witches & Angels: Romance Suspense (A New Dawn)” by T N Traynor, I did because the words ‘Witches’ and ‘Angels’ were in the title, and I am hooked when any of them appear! I was not disappointed. Megan is a beginner Green witch who has been in love with her childhood best friend her entire life. However, her feelings for him are not reciprocated and she finally decides to move away and start over. She finds a job at an herb shop in a small coastal town and loves it as she not only found a new home, she also found her coven and a new love, oblivious that danger would creep up on her….

Traynor’s writing style is light, fun and easy to read. Her picturesque characters are real, unique, and lovable. The villains are scary but at the same time real and believable. The story flows from start to end, and it captivated me from the beginning, making it really hard to put down. I only found two minor errors which I am mentioning as I am bound to as a reviewer but they were so tiny (probably product of over editing) that they did not affect my experience of the read at all and thus won’t affect my scoring. Her descriptions had plenty sensorial content to the point that I could feel being there. I felt scared for my life during the suspense scenes and yet felt relaxed thanks to the lightness of her narration style. This is book one of her series, and I can hardly wait to see how it continues to unfold.

Overall, “Between Witches & Angels: Romance Suspense (A New Dawn)” by T N Traynor is a great start to what it looks like an amazing series filled with romance, suspense, fantasy, and mystery. This is definitely an awesome read for an array of audiences who enjoy light fantasy mysteries, romance, witches, and angels! A Five-Star read in my book. Highly recommended!

Deciding it's time to move on with her life Megan Harrison makes a big move that puts her on a totally unexpected path away from Jack, her best friend who she also loves, but feels that they won't be exploring things beyond the friendship they both cherish. He certainly has his own demons to deal with at this point in his life too. Oh, the demons! ;)

Megan Harrison has such a beautiful heart. I loved the way she wanted to use her gifts to help people and the witches she meets when she moves are almost as sweet, most of them. Of course when playing with magic, you must be careful and it doesn't help to have outside sources with nefarious intentions. When she relocates the story gets this wonderful charming feel as the ladies bond. Then in walks Daelan and the atmosphere takes on a dark feeling, moving into something gothic.

It was fun to try and figure out who could be trusted as things grew more and more dangerous. The build to the ending was breathtaking and I was truly scared for Megan. There is another twist in theme but it is a surprising plot point that I don't want to spoil. In fact there are several twists you won't see coming that made this a real page-turning treat.

Another beautiful story from one of my favorite authors, you can't go wrong with T N Traynor.

Between Witches & Angels is the story of Megan and Jack with witches, demons, angels, and faith added into the mix. Megan and Jack are childhood besties with Megan loving Jack since forever, and this guy drinking himself to oblivion over the betrayal of his ex-wife.

Megan has magic in her blood and an immense interest in using her powers and herbs for healing. Her desperate move to Cornwall brings her new witch friends and a suitor with a magnetic personality. What happens when she agrees to marry the new guy, and Jack realizes he loves her? What happens when she disappears before the wedding and Jack feels she's in trouble? Can he find her? Will they have a HEA? What's the connection between Megan and demons?

The narration is descriptive and fast-paced. The story had me hooked from the prologue and sustained my interest throughout. It progresses over a few months, which are mentioned in each chapter. The settings are vivid, and I love how the author makes the atmosphere a tangible part of the story.

The story is written in both present tense and past tense, separated based on the timeline to avoid confusion. The story is in a limited third person from Megan's POV until her disappearance. It then moves to Jack's side of the narrative with an omnipresent third-person view whenever needed. The POV changes were smooth and flowing. Even with lots of internal dialogue, I had no trouble following who was thinking what.

*spoilers*

One thing that surprised me was the shift from routine fantasy to Christian fantasy. I knew there would be some of it, but towards the end, the emphasis was entirely on the Lord and becoming a good Christian. It was still a gripping read, what with angels and demons actively fighting each other.
What I would have liked was giving more importance to the witches (because I like them). There are good witches (the story has enough of them), and it made me sad to see Megan give up her magic towards the end. If magic is in her blood, she should use it for the good, as she wanted to.

*end of spoilers*

Despite there being another book lined up in the series, this one has a satisfactory ending. I love how you can read it as a standalone.

The characters are well developed though Megan has better characterization than Jack. She has more depth and layers, and Jack needs to catch up. His sudden giving up of alcohol seemed a bit unrealistic. He is, almost throughout the book, a weaker character than Megan and even his granny, who plays a vital role in the climax.
The other witches (Megan's friends in Cornwall) had good character definitions, and I hope there will be more of them in the next book.

Overall, it's an engaging read that'll keep you turning the pages to see who is who and if your guesses are right. If you like a few spells, some strong faith, the theme of good vs. evil, a clean romance with a pacy thriller, you'll enjoy this one.

I picked up this book after a very intriguing review by a reader friend. Her review prepared me on what to expect from this book, which was very helpful or else I might have been utterly disappointed with the way the book turned out.

"Between Witches and Angels" tells us of Megan, a newbie witch, who decided to move to Cornwall to get over her one-sided love for Jack. Cornwall seems to be a place perfectly suited for her as it has everything she's looking for at that stage in life: witch friends, new learning opportunities, a new career, and a fabulous romantic possibility in the form of Daelan Jennings, the local rich stud. But this romantic attraction seems to be taking over Megan at a much faster pace than she had imagined, and leads to a physical as well as spiritual battle that involves witches, demons, angels and pious old ladies.

Overall, the book is a thrilling one. TN Traynor creates such a fabulous atmosphere of suspense and anticipation that you keep flipping through the pages quickly. However, I must say that the overdose of the Christian elements after the 70% mark were a misfit. (Let me clarify that I'm a practising Christian myself.) I don't mind a book being full of faith, but to start a book assuming that it has one type of story and realising after the halfway mark that the author has very different plans in mind can sully the experience.

I wish either the Goodreads page or the NetGalley summary mentioned that the book goes intensively into faith-related aspects in its second half. Those fantasy readers who aren't believers will end up giving a poor rating to the book because of this factor. It is better if the reader knows what the book entails.

Another minor crib is with the cover. It is quite unimaginative and were it not for my friend's review, I would never have picked this book up on the basis of this cover. I hope the published edition works on a more appealing image for the cover.

I'm still quite satisfied with the book as it did give me a decently good thrill. The angels were especially superb. I will probably read the second book in the series too. It would be great to know if Megan harnesses her skills for the betterment of humankind, instead of simply giving them up as in the climax of this book. I would also want Jack's character to have a greater and deeper role rather than just being the Knight in shining armour when the heroine needs help. Most of all, I would want to witches' coven with Rosalie and her gang to return in the sequel. That's a story arc that this book cut off rather abruptly.

Overall, it's a good book if you know that it isn't just fantasy but a religious fantasy.

My rating: 3.75

To Sum Up
‘A twisting, turning paranormal romance populated by unique and captivating characters.’ The Wishing Shelf

REVIEW
Tracy Traynor, it seems, is a very talented author. This is the second book I have enjoyed by her. The first was Faith in Abertillery which I liked a lot. But this is a very different book. Yes, it’s romance, but there’s also a powerful fantasy element to it which, I felt – being a lover of all things fantasy – helped to make it the better of the two.
So, to begin with, what’s the plot. Here, I always want to shout, ‘Read the blurb!’ But I can sum it up for you in a sentence: Megan is in love with her best pal, Jack, who’s very much a flawed character and drinks too much. Feeling love will never truly blossom with this broken man, Megan (who’s a witch of sorts) sets off to Cornwall to start a new life. There, a dark force threatens to engulf her. Okay, I admit it, that wasn’t a sentence.
From the opening – and very powerfully written – first chapter, this is a compelling story. The plot is cleverly constructed, the setting is splendidly described, the pacing is, for the most part, spot on – and the characters! Wow! They deliver BIG TIME! Megan is very sweet, very caring and very, VERY likeable. But it’s Jack who I fell in love with. He’s just so, so, oh, I don’t know – vulnerable, I guess. And so very flawed. I just wanted to cuddle him and tell him everything’s going to be okay. In a way, the book is in two parts. In the first first part, it’s very character-led. Then, in the second part, it’s plot-led culminating in a gripping ending.
So, who will enjoy this book? To be honest, pretty much everybody. Lovers of romance, fantasy adventure and thrillers will find lots in here to enjoy. For me, the best part was the writing style. This author is excellent at giving readers what they want and, if she’s not snapped up by a big publisher soon, it would be a literary crime.
Enjoy!

“Between Witches and Angels” is one of those books that pull you in instantly and refuse to let go until the last page is turned. From the very first chapter I felt instantly connected to Megan and Jack; Jack in particular, as I’m a sucker for flawed, suffering characters that struggle through their pain and eventually break free of it. But fate had other plans for the childhood friends, who, you just know, are meant for each other. When Megan moves away and joins a coven, she’s pulled into a mysterious world that is brimming with dangers. Before long, her new romance with a handsome stranger Daelan turns dark but it’s too late before she realizes that something sinister is at play here. Her only hope is Jack, but will he make it on time? At this point, I couldn’t turn pages fast enough. This book is incredibly atmospheric, rich with magnificent details, and absolutely riveting. You’ll hold your breath, you’ll cry, and you’ll keep your fingers crossed for two heroes to escape the clutches of evil. I already can’t wait for the second book in the series!

When Meghan realizes her best friend, and secret-love, Jack only wants friendship, she moves to Cornwell and finds work at an herb store. She makes friends with the owner and other associates who are all witches. Before long, Meghan is learning witchcraft herself. A “green witch,” she practices good witchcraft.

Heartbroken over Jack who is dealing with his own addictions, Meghan convinces herself she’s in love with Daelan, a charming, wealthy business owner who’s referred to as the “Catch of Cornwell.” But Daelan has deep, dark secrets and magic of his own.

After Meghan and Daelan get engaged, Meghan finds herself in grave danger. When Jack can’t reach Meghan, he senses she is in trouble, and rushes to her rescue like a knight in shining armor. Without giving away spoilers, help comes from unexpected sources, including the faith Meghan never knew she had.

A great read that’s part romance, part suspense, and part self-discovery. A highly recommended read!

Childhood friends Megan and Jack are meant for each other, or are they? Giving up on getting Jack to see her as more than a friend, Megan leaves her old life behind to move to Cornwall. There she starts a new job, joins a coven, and falls for a new man, Daelen. Although he’s handsome and successful—the “Catch of Cornwall”—he has a dark side, drawing Megan into a dangerous world. Will Daelen be Megan’s undoing? Can Jack save her when her world spirals out of control? You’ll be eager to know the answers to these questions and more when you read T. N. Traynor’s Between Witches and Angels. With interesting characters, rich landscapes, and supernatural undercurrents that leave goosebumps running up and down your arms, the story will engage you from beginning to end. Do Megan and Jack live happily ever after? You’ll want to find out.

This story starts off as a sweet romance. Girl likes boy, but thinks he likes her only as his best friend. She moves away to take charge of her life. That's when things really heat up. She's into witchcraft... a white witch. Add in some witchy friends in a coven, an arrogant rich boy and his irritating sister, and the story really takes off beyond the romance genre.

When things started to get intense and mysterious, I didn't want to put the book down... so I didn't. There's a message in the story to be careful when dealing with the occult. You may think it's harmless and you're in it only for the betterment of others, but stronger, darker forces may derail your aspirations. Strong faith and love bring hope to overcoming the evils of this world. Lovely faith-based story. I'm looking forward to seeing what happens in book 2.

GRIPPING MASH-UP OF ROMANCE, SUSPENSE, HORROR & MAGICAL REALISM

This very 21st century love story is a mash-up of romance, thriller, horror and magical realism, and absolutely gripping. Seeking a new start, Megan Harrison moves from the wild moors of the English Peak District to even wilder country in Cornwall, making friends with a group of witches and taking a new lover. But what exactly does Daelan Jennings do for a living? Is his lucrative wellness business a hard-edged corporation, or a cult? Can his friends and family be trusted? Well-written, exciting and original, this book had me on the edge of my seat as I turned the pages. It's a class act.

Angels and demons walk around us and take many forms. In this epic tale, we meet Megan, a woman who has grown up next door with Jack - her best friend. When Jack fails to notice Megan has grown up and keeps her in the friend zone. Megan decides it is time to move away from Jack and start a new life.
We watch Megan learn about witches and from there how she would like to help people. Instead, Megan is taken advantage of and used in an evil plot.
When Jack realises how he feels about Megan, will he be too late to save her and reveal his true feelings to the woman he loves?

I enjoyed this story a lot. The story was about Megan Harrison, who loved her best friend, Jack Munroe. Jack seemed to only want Megan as a friend, so she decided to move. While living in Cornwell, Megan's life took some unexpected twists and turns. I liked that the characters seemed believable. I appreciated that the story was fast paced and absorbing. I am looking forward to the next book in the series. Katrina Michaels' narration was fine and kept my attention. I was given a free copy of the audiobook, and I have voluntarily posted this review.

I was drawn into the book, from the first page, where Megan is desperately trying to get Jack to respond to her messages, as she thinks she is going to be killed. The book then goes back in time, and the reader has to wait to figure out who and what is happening. I found the conflict between witches and angels frustrating, because it’s my understanding that witches can also believe in God, and the Bible. The writing was excellent, and I enjoyed it a great deal.

I had such great hopes for this after the title and blurb caught my eye, "witches and angels".

But gave up a few chapters in - where was the magic other than a small dusting at the start?

Yes, I get that we need a background story to Megan and Jack's relationship but for me this went on too long.

Guessing that this book was not my cup of tea after all (Megan prefers to make it using tea leaves).

This was so not my usual genre of book, but it was soooo good I couldn't put it down!

Megan the novice green witch moves away from her best friend Jack whom she loves dearly to Cornwall & finds herself being welcomed into a coven of witches. Then we go on a magical adventure packed full of demons, angels, kidnap & faith, with a good dollop of romance. Thank you for introducing me to something new. I have extremely mixed feelings about this book. While it started slowly for me, once Megan, the heroine, moves to Cornwall it drew me in. The tone was light, more paranormal romantic suspense than a cozy. Then all of a sudden, it takes a deep turn into religion and the war between good and evil. It lost me at that point. Thanks to netgalley and the publisher for the opportunity to read this book in exchange for an honest review.

Engaging, exciting and suspenseful

I became quite immersed in Megan’s story as I followed her through her exploration of witchcraft and became frightened for her as she became the pawn of...oops! No spoilers! Let’s say I couldn’t stop turning the pages and urging her back to safety and Jack’s arms.

Excellent on the suspense, but not the ending I expected

Bear in mind this is a pro-Christianity book and not what I think most would call paranormal romance. Excellent level of suspense maintained until approximately 70% through the book. The ending was not as clear cut as I expected from the rest of the story. Still I did read it in a day, so that is something.

between witches and angry

Thoroughly enjoyed the story line. Characters were like able. A joy to read a book that is entertaining without all the foul language and sex. Find it strange that other authors can’t enjoy the same theme in their books.

Will definitely read more by this author to

Suspenseful and romantic too, but not superficial. An interesting look into the world of angels and demons and the power of prayer to God. Couldn’t put book down.

I really have mixed feelings about this book. It starts out so slowly that it was almost painful. I also didn't realize that there would be as much religion as there was. I was initially drawn to the book by the title and the cover which I loved. I think this is an okay story but not my cup of tea.
