When the builder she threatened to get rid of is found dead in her unfinished home, reporter Guinivere Jones becomes the prime suspect. Can she find out who really killed the crooked contractor before she becomes the lead story? The sixth book in the bestselling Sanibel Island Mystery series, Trouble in Paradise takes readers back to Sanibel Island, Florida, where all is not so sunny and clear, and features a cast of memorable characters, including Guin’s on-again, off-again love interest, Det. William O’Loughlin, along with a bucketful of seashells and suspects. Whether you are a Sanibel lover, a fan of cozy mysteries, or are looking for a fun, fast read, Trouble in Paradise will captivate and leave you guessing who done it until the end.
Jennifer Lonoff Schiff is the author of the popular Sanibel Island Mystery series and the stand-alone novels Tinder Fella, a delightful rom-com set in NYC, and Something's Cooking in Chianti, a culinary mystery set in Italy.
Prior to her career as an author, Jennifer worked as a fact-checker, researcher, writer, and/or editor for a variety of magazines and book publishers. She eventually left the publishing world to found a boutique marketing communications agency that helped companies tell their story, for which she won several awards.
When not busy working on her next novel, Jennifer can be found playing with her two cats, taking long walks on the beach, or with her nose in someone else's book.
I love this series by Jennifer L. Schiff. It is so much fun to read with the references to places in Sanibel. I love the characters and the interactions between them. There is another murder in town. Have fun reading how Guin finds clues to help find the killer.
I just loved Trouble in Paradise! This book and along with the first 5 in the series are truly the best “Who Dun its.” If you have never read any of these mysteries then do start with book one. You will be introduced to the main characters who you will find to be friendly, funny and charming. With each book, Jennifer Schiff does an amazing job pulling the reader into all their lives. I admire the author’s writing style as well. She has not needed to add any foul language and scenes that make you cringe in order for her stories to be stimulating. The books speak for themselves and you will find them to be an exciting, fun and relaxing read! Do take one to the beach with you, dig your toes in the sand and lose yourself on Sanibel-a tropical island where the mysteries, sunsets and the shelling are spectacular!
I absolutely love Jennifer’s books. They bring up wonder memories of Sanibel Island. It’s hard to put her books down. From the start, I can’t wait to see how the book ends. When it ends, I am so ready for the next one! Keep them coming Jennifer!!
I absolutely love these books! I’ve read every one and each time I just FLY through the books. I can’t wait for the next installment of Guin’s adventures!
If you cant get to the beach...this is the next best thing! Lots of twists and turns, filled with characters you'd want as friends. Read the whole series.
I have to admit I never saw this ending coming at all. I think because I was too wrapped up thinking about Guin's personal life I lost track of the clues! I just love this series so much and I can't wait for the next installment!!
A delightful addition to the Sanibel Island Mystery series! Could not put it down! It is a fun summer adventure! Already looking forward to the 2021 installment!,
What a delightful read while visiting on Sanibel Island. Her theme about contractors and housing repairs is such a big topic now that I was fascinated with how she wove this into a page turning mystery novel. Now I am waiting for her next to come out this year.
The characters are beginning to sound so familiar like old friends you haven’t seen in a while, but when you get together no time has elapsed and you pick up right where you left off.
Is it the detective she loves or now, Glen, the photographer? Guin and Glen definitely had some easy chemistry. But where is Guin’s heart?
The book by Mrs. Simms, “The Belle of Sanibel” definitely brought other subjects to light: Meetings on the sly, old habits, and new habits.
My last review on the book had me rooting for the detective for Guin’s heart. Well, it seems she has the detective’s heart as well. (Called it!)
These books are definitely a very good summer book collection. I am in love with the characters and the location (Sanibel)! The twisted plots, just when you think you have it figured out, there is a new twist you never saw coming! What a great series this has been.

I enjoy the stories about Sanibel Island since I have been to Florida many times and have been
To Sanibel Island the last time I was in Florida. I don't like Guinness being with that detective! He is too old and too silent and has no personality. Hopefully she will meet the one in a future book. I do not like her bouncing into bed with s many men! But I. am older so grew up when that did not happen or at least I did not do it! I know things are different now. But I did like a lot about the book and how Giun solvesmysteries and looks for. seashells and. is after the great find in seashells. I look forward to reading the future adventures of this girl reporter!
This was another story in the continuing series of Sanibel mysteries! Each book has a unique mystery to be solved with the Sanibel police and the assistance of Guin Jones who I have come to adore! Looking forward to several more books in the continuing saga.
This is the 6th book in The Sanibel Island Mystery series!!!! This book takes readers back to Sanibel Island where all is not too sunny and clear and features a cast of memorable characters including on again off again Det. William O'Loughlin along with a lot of seashells and suspects!!!! A great read that I could not put down!!!!
Another cozy mystery taking place on Sanibel Island. I definitely did not figure out the murderer until revealed near the end. Guin still takes too many risks and acts like she’s the big crime reporter. Quick, interesting book.
Another great one. Not only do I love the storyline but all the places she mentions that I've been to. Looking forward to the next one and see where Guinn ends up
I am clearly biased, but I loved this book. It's the perfect beach or vacation read -- good characters, a little romance, and a well-plotted mystery. Highly recommend.
I love-love this series! I can’t wait to start #7. I just hate for this series to end. Thank you Jennifer Lonoff Schiff for sharing your talent of writing.
