What an amazing read!

First chapter centers on detective Dave Berkman, he is riding his car and about to get home, but then he sees a weird red glow, stops to check was going on, and ... you better read it yourself. Just the first chapter and it had me already wanting for more.

Megan and Kevin are a married couple that will try to solve this mysterious murder.

This was a fast paced story with lots of tension, author Ryan Krol was able to make me turn pages while I tried to solve this murder by myself, great job.

Personally I’ve always been a fan of science fiction novels and horror. I attribute that to being born in October; I love reading about murders, mysteries, and all sorts of chilling events! If you’re anything like me you’ll enjoy Cabin Number 4, a short read which does not fail in presenting the ultimate mystery (even a seasoned mystery reader like myself did not anticipate it’s ending). What I love about this particular book is how the plot does not fail to be intricate although it is a short - straight forward read. It weaves in multiple aspects from areas in real life that pique my interest: law enforcement, investigative journalism, and government conspiracies to name just a few. Cabin Number 4 is the perfect read for any avid sci-fi, horror, or mystery reader you will find it hard to set it down until you reach the end!

With Kevin and Megan's marriage on the brink of collapse, they decide that spending some time together away from work and the busyness of life might help them rekindle their love. Since they both share an interest in cold cases and unsolved mysteries, they choose a small resort that, years earlier, was the scene of a horrific -- and unsolved -- murder.

On their way to the resort, they stumble upon the body of a deceased bear, and Kevin immediately questions how such a large beast could've been killed. Paranoia set in for both Kevin and Megan, but they continue with their plan to stay in the same cabin in which the prior murder had occurred. Little did they know that doing so might seal their own fate.

Author Ryan Krol keeps the pace moving as he carries readers along the horrific journey on which Kevin and Megan embark. Will their marriage -- and their bodies -- survive the terrors that await them in Cabin Number 4?

As with SYNDROME, this author has a wild imagination, a gift for creative "monsters," and building suspense and terror. However the execution is mitigated by the lack of proofreading/editing [for example, a character who is 47 yet married for 40 years]. That distracts from the enjoyment of what is otherwise a suspenseful and exciting story line with characters the reader can warm up to.

An intriguing read with an interesting premises.

An engaging read which presents many questions as to the motives of seemingly unrelated murders. Good character development and plot complexity.

Love the artwork for the cover of this book.
There were a lot of grammar and sentence structure issues in this though. At times it made it hard to focus on the story because I was spending time trying to realize what a sentence was actually supposed to say. There was a lot of "telling" of things and not enough "showing". There were chapters where the pov went back and forth between characters, and a few times that dialogue went back and forth with only one person. Not sure how a lot of these issues weren't caught in editing.
There were some inconsistencies in parts of the story, and I'm not sure why there was a 10year gap between the murders. Why was Kevin and his wife killed? What were the documents the hotel owner went to get and was murdered for? And why didn't the killer go after Becker himself rather than his wife? Just a few of the many questions I left the book with.
The idea of the story was good and there were a few pointed lines the author used that described certain feelings pretty well. A little editing would have done wonders for the overall read.

Cabin Number 4
By Ryan Krol

This story is short in length yet covered multiple murders in a descriptive, detailed manner. My interest was held throughout the story. The mysteries unraveled in such a way I was glad I didn't put the book down. I've rated this story five stars.

🐺Reading this book was like accidentally waking up in a wolf’s lair. The whole pack is still sleeping and you’re afraid to move, even slightly.
_____
🐺The Plot:  Kevin and Megan decided to give a fresh start to the lives and a marriage. They set off to trip to Black Hawk town, where the murder was committed in 1983. Instead of cloudless and peaceful time they faced a real ‘storm’ that crashed everything on its way.
____
🐺The Writing Style: This book grabbed my attention from the very first lines and held my attention till the very end! Brilliant, clever and intense thriller with elements of science fiction includes so many breathtaking twists that my goosebumps were racing during the whole reading! The writer managed to describe the inner tortures and musings of the characters so perfectly that I couldn’t stop worrying about them and desperately wanted to help them somehow.
____
🐺My Favorite quote: “You still have friends between the snakes around here. Think nothing of it, and just watch yourself.”
____
🐺Would I read other books by this author: Absolutely yes.

This 5 star story definitely kept me turning the pages with nonstop action and cliffhangers. Interesting characters, a strong story line, and a nice job wrapping everything up could've only been made better with editing.
