Life rarely stands still when you surround yourself with old folk with more energy than a sugar-fueled toddler and, for Jack Tate, well, he wouldn’t have it any other way. The Lonely Heart Attack Club was going from strength to strength, and the gang were eager to sink their (false) teeth into their next challenge. After seeing first-hand the benefits that internet access has brought to a couple of simpletons like Ray and Grandad, the team set their sights on providing tablet computers to those in the community that would benefit from them the most. However, that would take a serious amount of dosh, so they would need to double their fundraising efforts. Unfortunately, it would appear that not everyone was on board with the charitable work, and a serious error in judgement threatened to undo all of their good work and leave the charity in ruins. Still, they were a resilient bunch, and they’d fight on regardless. And the perfect way to drag yourself through a crisis? Another world-record attempt, of course!

For a series that started out as a strong 5 stars, I was disappointed that successive reads went down in quality. It wasn't as funny and the main theme (Project VIP) seemed even less involved than the second book's theme (Wrinkly Olympics). I even found myself skimming some of it.
Maybe I read 3 in a row and was tired of the characters. But this.final book did.not.seem as strongly written, as funny or as interesting as the first 3 .
This is the third book in the series that I started just over a week ago. Such a laugh out loud read, yet with a very strong message in support of the elderly. Often, our senior citizens take a back seat and many are neglected. Though fictional, these books presented ways on how, through a genuine sense of community, our elders can be made to feel secure, useful, and happy. After all, before we got here, they were here first.
Kudos to the author J C Williams for coming up with such a funny, heartwarming, enjoyable and totally significant book series!
I love this series. Be sure to listen to Florence's Song on youtube, the link of which the author provides at the end of the book. I love the quirkiness and craziness of Jack and his grandfather and particularly love the ending!
The third book in The Lonely Heart Attack Club series. Things are going well and the charity is going from strength to strength. Next on the agenda, after seeing all the great things it's done for Ray and Grandad, is getting devices and internet access to those who are particularly isolated at home and may not be able to get to one of the clubs. Plus another world record attempt. However, not everyone involved is as charitable and good hearted, leading to a major problem which may well see the end of The Lonely Heart Attack Club. Heartwarming, amusing and feels particularly relevant due to the situation in 2020.
Jack and Emma find themselves in a pickle when the charity account that had accumulated out of the Wrinkly Olympics has been exhausted by an untrustworthy accountant. The members of The Lonely Heart Attack Club are planning on a fundraiser for a new van to get more members to enjoy the benefits of the new ballroom dance lessons as well as tablets and internet access for those elderly ones who have none. A new member, Florence, recently lost her husband. Her talents as a musician and song writer surprise the club. Jack and Emma have really built quite the charitable organization worthy of another world record. Great story!
Lonely Heart Attack Club is a feel-good, gently humorous novel centered on an unexpected support group for the elderly. What begins as a room full of lonely, reluctant strangers slowly turns into a community built on shared stories, second chances, and quiet resilience. The book’s charm lies in its warmth and wit. The characters are imperfect, funny, and deeply human, and their friendships feel authentic rather than sentimental
I really enjoyed the first 2 books, however was sadly disappointed with this one. I still enjoyed the characters and what they got up to, though the stories and the detail just wasn’t there for me. There were no laugh out loud moments like in the first 2 and I just wanted to get it finished so I could move into my next book.
Well enough written but rather than develop or flow the story lurches from one idea to the next with only a fragile narrative. Ideas come and go but never fully develop with the odd cliche thrown in for good measure. It is a fun diversion and less of a tourist plug for the IoM than previous books in the series, is entertaining and fun
It's not all fun and games anymore when the charity is embezzled. A nice message that even when things get bad, hang in there. Talk with friends and loved ones. Just keep doing what you were doing before everything went bad. The happy ending is a mindset, with a lot more work to come. Now, what about that mayor?
Number 3 in the series. The club accountant has absconded with all the clubs money and the accountant made it look like granddad had a part in it. They all thought they were going to lose everything they had fought for all this time. But never cross a wife who has been cheated on, she saved the day. Another fun and heartwarming book about making older people’s lives better!
I love this series of books but I will say I need you to hurry up and write the next one as I’m up to date now! 😊 Also love the song that goes with this book. We should all look out for our elders nobody should be alone. A simple must read.
This is a truly wonderful heartfelt series and I highly recommend it. This series is funny, heartfelt, romantic and just a feel good book. The people is this series are so wonderful you would love to know them and be a part of their lives.
Just read these books. They are heart warming, funny, beautifully written and will bring a tear to your eye. The characters are relatable, and engaging. I seriously hope there are more "lonely heart attack club" books in the pipeline.
The third book in the trilogy of The Lonely Heart Attack Club didn’t disappoint, it had me giggling at the antics of Grandad and Ray. I hope there will be more to follow.
Funny, heart breaking, a wonderful story. As with the previous book in the series, I read this in one sitting and thoroughly enjoyed it. I hope there will be more.
