And the Fortress Defense series comes to a close! This is a fast paced suspenseful read. It's the first time I read about a character with amnesia in a romance novel, and it definitely makes for an engaging read because if the character doesn't know why things are happening, neither to we!

Read as a part of Who Picked This Book? Bookclub, where we read the entire series from November to December. See the live show on Nicole's Channel with her & JenJen chatting all about the book:

This mystery starts off intense. Katlin was excited about finishing a project she had been working on. On her way home, someone was chasing her then knocked her off the road. Later, she tried to reach her brother’s former best friend who had served in the military with him, Jack. Before he died, Jack had promised him that he would keep Katlin safe. To do that he needed to find out who was trying to kill her. It's a big job so he got help from the rest of the Fortress Defense team.

I loved the action and suspense of this book. It is definitely worth reading if you like action mixed with romance and suspense.

Another in the Fortress Defense series, in which bodyguard Jack Hale's phone is called by Katlin Andrews right before her car is chased and run off the road by someone trying to kill her. But who? Too bad she can't say, as she's lost her memory and has no clue who she is or what might have caused someone to try to do her in.

Jack knew her brother, killed in the Middle East, and promised to keep her safe. He intends to keep that promise, even if it means he can't act on what else he wants to do after kissing her. But first, he needs to find out who's trying do kill Kat. To do so, he enlists the assistance of the rest of his Fortress Defense bros and a legit detective even though the police chief looks like he might be dirty.

What a surprise when her memory returns after she's abducted and tossed in a basement that feel eerily familiar. But will she get out or end up dead like the lawyer boss she'd been working for?

Started this last last night and finished it this morning. This is definitely my favorite so far. Pretty such it’s because Katlin is a single woman without a kid to care for and well - I’m a single women without a kid to care for, so I could relate to her better than the women in the first three books.

Lots of great action from the start with her and Jack, a Marine who’s one of the cofounders of Fortress security. Love these books!

Pick it up if you want a great read!

This was a non-stop ride of full on action and suspense! Katlin Andrews is busy trying to dial Jack Hale before she is run off of the road and left for dead. When he gets the call from the officers at the scene that she was trying to call him, he knows he has to go help her. He made a promise to Katlin's brother before he was killed in action in the war that he would take care of her. When he arrives at the hospital, she has amnesia. She has no clue who she is and does not know who he is. However, she has the "sense" that someone is after her. She is most assuredly correct. Jack Hale is a bodyguard with Fortress Defense, and he is definitely capable of protecting her, but his job is made much more difficult because she cannot remember who she is and who is after her. The action is non-stop and will leave you on the edge of your seat. Julie Anne Lindsey knows how to write a suspenseful thriller! The tagline on the book is "Seek thrills. Solve crimes. Justice served." Those few words sum up what makes this book so enjoyable to read!

Julie does a excellent job at setting the pace of this book. It's fast, full of mystery and intrigue, and lastly a nice dose of gentle romance. I love the tie between Katlin Andrews and Jack Hale. Jack's best fried had been her brother which Julie brought to light throughout the book. She did it in the way she showed the conflict Jack had to deal with throughout the book. The book was fast paced and interesting. Katlin had a medical condition to deal with throughout the book. What was great to see was her spirit and the way she met the challenges. She never gave up. It was neat to see at the end the extent of the problem and how the problem was being solved. The ending was great to see. I look forward to the next book. J

I always forget what a captivating plot device amnesia can be. We learn that Katlin is a journalist, and almost immediately, we are in the hospital with her after an accident and begin to peel back the layers of the story in real time. There are many small town secrets and politics in play. Along with bodyguard Jack, Kat uncovers the truth in an engrossing, suspense filled read.

I’m not ready for this book series to end. Each book can be read as a standalone. I actually read book two first before I knew it was a book series. It was so good, I went back and read the other books. This book starts off intense. Katlin was excited, and just finished a project. On her way home, someone was following her, and bumped her a few times. She tried to get a hold of Jack, her brother’s best friend. Then she was knocked off the road, and woke up in the hospital with no memory. Jack served in the military with Katlin’s big brother. When he died, Jack promised him that he would watch over Katlin. Jack made sure to send Birthday and Christmas cards to Katlin, but has never meet her in person. He always included his phone number just in case she wanted to talk to him. This was pretty much a love at first site kind of book. Jack had to try to avoid the sparks that was igniting between them, so he could figure out what was going on. Katlin was a target, and someone wanted to silence her forever. Jack and his team worked to protect Katlin. She was no damsel in destress. She was fighter, and fought to get to the bottom of what she was involved in. I loved the action and suspense of this book. This is a book worth reading if you love action mixed with romance, and suspense.
