WHO ATE MY CAKES? is a cute lift-the-flap exploration with cakes! Cat has saved some pieces of cake, and he is deciding which he will eat first. However, when he goes to eat the blueberry cheesecake, he finds that Sheep is already eating it! Each page features Cat asking who ate each piece of cake with a flap showing the cake, and under the flap, the animal who is eating it. The flaps are half a page, and the image of the cake creatively turns into half of the animal underneath. At the end, all of Cat's cakes are gone, but his friends have a surprise for him- a birthday cake!

What I loved: The flaps are simple but creative, and the story is one that is fun to get into. Cat exclaims over each piece of cake being eaten and this can create giggles for little ones. The flaps are really creative with the way each dessert transforms into an animal. The illustrations and text are simple, but this has appeal for infants and toddlers who enjoy a quick and straight-forward read. The conclusion is sweet with Cat's friends coming together with a surprise cake.

Final verdict: Simple but cute, WHO ATE MY CAKES? is a creative lift-the-flap board book with appeal for young readers.

Life should always be filled with yummy cakes, and the orange-striped Cat in this board book is faced with a delicious dilemma as to which of four "cakes" to eat first. It's a tough choice since his kitchen boasts blueberry cheesecake, a cupcake, a donut, and chocolate cake. (I know which one I'd choose: the chocolate cake, of course.) But in Goldilocks and the Three Bears fashion, he discovers that his baked goods have caught the eyes of various other animals. The flap on the right-hand side shows how the dessert has been nibbled on, and readers can then lift that flap and see who is responsible for the damage. After all, each animal is caught red-handed with dessert in hand. Cat is so disappointed and so hungry since his treats have been devoured by other animals. But no worries! Sheep, Dog, Snake, and Bear have something that will satisfy Cat's sweet teeth. I loved the flaps and the shapes of the animals and how part of their bodies are hidden under that flap, which encourages young readers to guess what animal has eaten the food and predict what Cat might do next.

Lovely mellow colors and fun flaps to turn distinguish these cute board books. Someone is eating Cat’s cakes. By turning the flap, the cake itself cleverly becomes the animal – sheep, dog, snake, or bear – who is eating the cake. At the end there is a surprise: a birthday cake for Cat.. In addition to the yumminess of the sweets, the creativity of the sweet becoming an animal will delight kids. Simple and adorable.

Little Cat is so hungry. He has four desserts to eat, a piece of pie, a cupcake, a donut, and chocolate cake. But one by one his desserts are eaten by other animals. Little Cat has to discover who is eating his treats!

I loved the simple illustrations in this book. The colors are bright and attractive, and the fuzzy style is really cute!

Me encantaron las sencillas ilustraciones de este libro. Los colores son brillantes y atractivos, ¡y el estilo difuso es lindo!

The flaps on each page are cleverly designed, so that on one side the drawing looks like the dessert, and when you open it, half of the drawing reveals the animal that ate the dessert. It's brilliant!

Las solapas de cada página están ingeniosamente diseñadas, de modo que en un lado el dibujo se parece a el pastel, y cuando lo abres, la mitad del dibujo revela el animal que se comió el pastel. ¡Es brillante!

I love this sweet board book! ¡Me encanta este dulce libro de cartón!
