North End Souls is an entertaining series of interviews with former North End players and managers from the recent past. The stories are generally engaging (for me, as a supporter of the club) and there are some tidbits that I wasn't already aware of. Footballers, much like anybody else, like to trot out the same stories that they find entertaining. Some moments raise smiles, whilst others give insight.

However - in the book, there are some things that could have done with a little more work. Fact checking (for example, in Joe Garner's chapter, he says the 5-3 win at home to Burnley was managed by Billy Davies - actually, it was Craig Brown's team) and a litany of misspelled names and typing errors bring a slight frustration to the book. A good editor brings this that bit further.

In summary - it is a pleasant read for the ardent fan and I will be moving on to North End Souls 2 in the near future.
