jiang song-yi & bai huai's relationship is beyond perfection💯💓😭👌
i read this danmei wayyy back via mtl and only remembered there were some good parts on it, but reading it with a proper translation truly made the whole thing more easier to get into and more fluffier than expected. it's an omegaverse love story with a high-school setting and childhood sweethearts for its main trope, and it's probably one of the fluffy ones that i still found occasionally mature through its mc's character development.
to sum it short, i just love jiang song-yi's character so so much. you got the feeling that he's only a brat living his high school years, his arrogance when he was so sure he'd differentiate as an alpha, and even when things didn't go exactly the way he envision them to be, he was strong and mature about it. yes, he had a hard time processing it, but he grew from that, and seeing his character going through changes for himself, and the way he's belatedly and gradually aware of bai huai's love for him, was pure impeccable.
i liked that they already shared a strong bond despite being separated for 3 years, that bai huai was such a respectful ml, and how he prioritized jiang song-yi all the time. song-yi was dense but he was made aware eventually about their changing relationship, and the transition to that was so unhurriedly sweet that i didn't want to complain anything about the plot or story pace. because the entire story was about them and them alone; and it wasn't boring at the very slightest.
i also liked the youthfulness that came from the high-school setting, it kinda reminded me of Fake Slackers tbh and i loved those vibes so much. it's just high school teens 24/7 worried about tests and their grades, but even then, it was still painted as the best time of their life.
i rarely reread unless a book was 100% living up to my expectations, but i'd probably want a reread for this in the future. it's just a stress-free, relaxing, and fluffy read in one book!
