ONE HEARTBREAKING REVELATION!!! Outstanding! Braided, bound and entangled, imparting the explosive ups and agonizing downs, grounding in it's simplicity and awe-inspiring in it's depth, drawing our characters closer than they could have ever imagined. The characters are authentic and realistic with depth and qualities that add diversity, transforming into amazing personalities. The scenes are strikingly sharp with abundant details and descriptions creating a colorful backdrop that makes the storyline poo. Remarkable job Lilah, thanks for sharing this awesome little gem with us.
It felt very repetitive. Every time Jethro would start to like Annie, Bartholomew would find him and start lying and Jethro would get upset and pull back and it happened so often in the exact same way. Most of the conversations between Annie and Jethro rehashed the same problem over and over again, that Jethro was afraid that Annie was going to breakthrough engagement. A lot of this back and forth could have been cut and the book would have been much shorter without changing the overarching plot.
I think this book needed a lot stronger editing. It could have been a good novella or perhaps the conflict shifted to make it a longer book. As it is, it was frustrating to see the same issue come up again and again. I don't even know what Annie saw I Jethro beyond his knowledge og scripture, he was so irritating.
Annie has had a very trying year. She broke off her engagement to Bartholomew just days before the wedding and has refused to say why. What could have happened? Only now her parents have gotten together with the preacher and his wife and have decided that Jethro Mills and she are to be married! Jethro is most upset about this news. How can he marry a woman who would break her oath so easily? It takes some time, but just as Jethro and Annie are finally getting to know one another and trusting what the other says, Bartholomew starts to make trouble! Why does he feel he has the right to do so? Will Jethro and Annie be able to be happy? Only one way to find out, read this great story by Lilah Rivers. It will keep you reading till the end 📚
"Lilah Rivers" her stories are a breathe of fresh air where her stories have a Christian atmosphere but also exciting ! Her character take on a different kind of role in the west where cowboys are rough and ready! The plot to this story ,is a even flow story and the difference in the personalities of the characters you will see right away but yet either call in love with it go get "the bad guys"! Grab some tissues, but fur the tears, lol, but for all the dirt the West has!! Travel with these characters and see where this fantastic historical fiction story will take you! Get your boots on,your going to need them!!
Lilah Rivers takes us back to a time when morals and actions had more impact that they do now. Annie has been blamed for a last minute broken engagement even though we know that it was not her fault. We are not told what did happen and this event has totally affected her life. I had a hard time empathizing with Jethro and his fears since this seemed a little self-righteous to me. Again, it is because things are totally different now. The story is compelling because you want to know what will Bartholomew will try next. I enjoyed to story enough to ignore that it seemed a little slow with all of Jethro’s Bible study and musings. My Extended Epilogue went to the wrong book.
This was a good story about Annie and Jethro. Annie had declined an engagement prior to Jethro. Bartholomew was her first intended. Annie had caught him kissing her out in in back of the house. This was the reason for ending the engagement. This gave her a bad reputation in town, but Annie was a pious lady, learned in the Bible. Pastor Mills and Annie’s father made an agreement for them to marry. Neither was happy about it. They struggled to get to know each other, Bartholomew kept discouraging Jethro. But in th end, there was a happy ever after.
I received an ARC of this book from the author, Lilah Rivers, and this is my voluntary and honest review. I loved this book about the love that Jethro and Annie found with each other even though their marriage was an arrangement made by both sets of parents. This author truly is a Christian and lets her beliefs shine through in her books by quoting Biblical scriptures and reciting prayers by the characters who put their trust in God. I highly recommend this book.
This is a a story full of faith, doubt, betrayal, forgiveness and love. After ending her engagement to marry Bartholomew, Anna, is practically an outcast in town because she refuses to tell a soul her reason. When her parents arrange a marriage for Anna to Jethro, the pastor's son, Jethro is outraged. He believes all the rumors about Anna. Jethro's Journey to trust in Anna is one full of mistrust and dislike, and a refusal to listen to Anna's side of the story. I was rather disappointed that the extended epilogue was for a different book.
I absolutely and thoroughly enjoyed this book, Author Lilah!! Everything that you wove into the spiritual and biblical narratives thrilled my heart! So much was included with learning to trust the Lord Jesus with all our hearts and growing in grace and mercy, and there was the whole process of sanctification as we walk with the Holy Spirit. Topping it all off was the message of forgiveness, especially because of the forgiveness we have received. Most excellent!!
A Pure Love to Mend their Trust An Inspirational Historical Romance Book
This is a very good inspirational story about Jethro Mills the son of a preacher and Annie a righteous young woman and they are told to marry and this makes Me thru reluctant but love finds a way in spite of everything that the man she broke off her first engagement with tried to do.The plot and characters are very good and the story well written A enjoyable story
It has been a year but she took the blame when her marriage didn't happen. It was someone else's doing. But now she wants a home and family. The Pastor and her father arrange a marriage between them. But the Pastor's son has heard the gossip and wonders if he can get past the gossip and trust her.It is an awful lot to work out. I love the Christian background. I received a review copy and voluntarily review it.
This story is a truly impressive christian based book. It was uplifting to me in the way the characters were portrayed to be living their christian and not so christian lives. I really enjoyed the correct biblical references and the joy the characters received through their beliefs.
A story of belief. Will a lie destroy any happiness for Annie? Will Jethro learn to get through his prejudice? This was a beautiful and powerful piece. This faith-based book took hold of me right from the first page. I really was in Annie corner taking on the abuse and lies of her ex-fiancé’ took so much strength of characters. Good characters and story I hope you check it out.
Annie stepped away from marrying Bartholomew. Never stating why. So now her parents and Jethro's parents have set them up to be married. Jethro had to learn a lot about trust. This was a very fine read. A love story well worthy of your time. I loved it a lot. Thank you for sharing with us.
I loved all the scriptural reference. The story didn't feel veTy realistic to me. I just do not see her not confiding with not even her best friend about why she broke off her first engagement. Maybe or maybe not confiding in her parents..but no one. I just don't feel it.
It was so beautiful and heartfelt that I couldn't help shedding a tear or two, smiling at the love, and, feeling the messages of the verses used in this story.
Enjoyed this story ,it shed a lot of up and down in it ,cannot listen to people .prayer was good you need to look to God for anwers. And when you want to know something go to one go you need your answer from
I enjoyed reading this story about trials and tribulations of finding happiness,I understand how inspirational fit into this story, but there was a lot of back and forth and mistrust which I found unappealing.
I thoroughly enjoyed this book. It was not full of of unnecessary description that made me flip through several chapters at a time. The villain was enough to cause me to talk to the book. LOL!
The story of two hearts who had been broken who don’t trust anyone. The parents arrange their marriage. I loved Jethro and Annie and once again I appreciate Lilah’s Christian witness in her books.
