When their guitarist nearly dies just as the tour opens, Rising Sun needs a replacement now. Skye leaves her billionaire boyfriend to grab the opportunity to be with them - with Lander - again. But they've both been keeping a big part of themselves a secret from the other. This is her path toward their new D/s relationship. I thought she was a little too forgiving of him for having sent her away a year ago, but they are so good for each other and to each other. Creatively and sensually, they truly do complete each other. But the book is so much more than just that. The band has security issues, beginning with Mick's near-death and extending to threats against all of the band members, and an attempted poisoning of their manager. The suspense kept me on the edge of my seat, with my heart racing at times. It's impossible to figure out the good guys from the bad guys, and everyone is suspect - Jake's new girl Sara, the FBI agent in charge of the drug investigation, their new record label exec Steve, Skye's ex Stanley, Scott's girl Barbara, the owners of Spikes, the security guy Jim. There are some twists that I never saw coming. This is my first read from this author, but certainly not the last

Do you like suspense ? Do you like a book that keeps you captivated until the end?
Then Rough Rockstar by Maggie Carpenter is the book for you.It is well balanced,
with a blend of steamy sex scenes ,tender loving care,danger,angst ,intrigue, and
turmoil that will that will have you on guard as to what will happen next.

Lander had no choice but to send the love of his life away from him and the band.
He had a part of himself he had kept a secret from Skye.His need to protect her
outweighed his love for her.Will Skye be able to forgive him once he had opened
his heart out in a letter.Can something powerful come out of their misery?

I did question how quickly Skye forgave Lander, but i admired her courage and her
resilience.It was refreshing living Skye’s journey into BDSM. A part of herself she
had kept secret from Lander.The honesty between them was powerful, and would
be an intrinsic part of their relationship.

This story jumped right into action focusing on the instant attraction between the
characters.A good concept ,interesting story that was fast moving.A gripping read
of self discovery.repressed urges and love.

Lander, Scott and Jake are members of the rock band Rising Sun. Skye used to be a guitarist with the band, but Lander sent her away (read broke up with) to protect Skye from a drug dealer. When the replacement guitarist, Mick, is put in the hospital because of bad drugs, they ask Skye to come back. Lander admits that he loves her still and that he needs to be her dominant instead of the vanilla boyfriend he was. Skye is all for it. In the midst of Skye and Lander getting back together, there is the mystery of what happened to Mick and the threats of violence against the whole band. I really enjoyed this story. There is both a mystery to solve, one that is darn hard to figure out, and there is the D/s between Skye and Lander. I think Lander is a little high handed, but Skye likes it. There is a HEA and a great ending to the mystery. There is a HEA for Jake and Scott too!

Lander Love is a hot, talented rock star and lead singer of the notorious band Rising Sun. Skylar Lockhart is a beautiful singer and a phenomenally talented song writer. Skylar was suddenly kicked to the curb with no explanation, no rhyme, no reason. She has no idea that she is the love of Lander’s life and he sent her packing for no other reason than to protect her. Months later, the band was just beginning their road tour when one of the guitarists suffered an incident and was hospitalized. Lander has no choice but to ask Skylar to return to the band for the duration of the tour. They both have secrets that could tear a couple apart. Within these pages, you’ll find mystery, suspense, drama, romance, sexy love scenes and sexy bottom warmings. I was unable to put this book down until I reached the end, very satisfied. To be read again later for sure. ♥️

This book was nothing like what I had imagined it would be, although, as it turns out I thoroughly enjoyed the story. I've always enjoyed Maggie Carpenter's books but I had a tough time at the beginning connecting with Lander and Skye. For some reason, it almost felt like someone had come to fill-in for them and weren't quite sure what emotion to portray with the lines they were reading if that makes any sense. And then all of a sudden it was like the original characters came back to finish the script and there were the emotion and chemistry jumping off the pages as they went through the angst, drama, suspense, and mystery this band had been put through. Lots of twists and turns within the story that kept me guessing as to what was going on. There's a whodunnit that runs through the book and the culprit had me shaking my head. It wasn't whom I thought it was. I'd be glad to recommend this book.

Lander Love is the lead singer in the band Rising Sun it’s the start of their tour and their fans are going wild but Lander doesn’t see them he’s singing for her making love to her with his music he misses her so much then his band members come on stage then his infamous guitarist runs on stage then he collapses. Now they need a new guitarist and Lander’s manager said that he talked to Skye she knows all of their songs because she wrote them with Lander but Lander is unsure after he was the one that pushed her away. Lander has a big secret it’s the reason why he pushed Skye away he didn’t believe that she would be able to take it but Lander wants to dominate Skye he just doesn’t know why she is coming back. Wow what a 🔥 sexy rockstar story but be warned if you don’t like a good spanking then don’t get this book there’s also suspense and danger, I loved this story it’s an amazing read and I definitely recommend this book.

Wow wow wow there is so much going on in this book that just grabs and pulls you into the story...
The band Rising Sun is about to go on tour but when their guitarist collapses the band decides to bring in their old guitarist Skye.
Lander and Skye have history but Lander has a secret that he couldn’t share but when a incident threatens him and those he cares about he sent Skye away to protect her. Now she is back in the band and small incidents start to happen...
I loved all danger, suspense, intrigue, drama and interlaced with very hot sexy scenes and a plot that just keeps you wanting to know what happens next..

First, don't you just love these rocker's names: Lander and Skye?!

This story pulls you in early with the strings that can be pulled! So many ways this can go. Skye's ex-billionaire, will he let her go so easy? Lander's trouble with Emily's pimp; has it ended, really? It seems there are no longer issues with Skye and Lander's sex life, but who knows, right!

I'm almost half way through, and I think I'll try to do this every time so I don't give anything away, ever! I can't wait to find out what Ms. Carpenter has in store! Never a dull moment with this author!

There's intrigue and mystery, action and suspense, tender love and steamy s3x.
Lander and Skye have a rocky relationship both on and off the stage. Secrets and lies ended it all eight months ago, but now they have come together to put that all behind them. It's more explosive that it was ever before but not all the bad will stay in their past. They must fight for a future together.
This book that MC's classic spank kink with dominant men so no surprises. Enjoy.

Not for me as Rough Rockstar was just too rough

I have read a couple books by Maggie Carpenter and had a mix on them. I am just going to say that Rough Rockstar is in the "No" category for me. I just found it hard getting into this book and then the form of BDSM relationship they have is not good, IMHO. This was just not a book for me but I know other readers will love it, which is okay with me as we all are different.

When Lander pushed Skye out of Rising Sun, she left the band and her Dom reluctantly and with a broken heart. Lander needed her to leave to keep her safe, but didn't bother to tell her why. Now with a member out, she is asked back. No matter the danger, now she's back, he won't be able to live without her again. Someone wants to hurt either the band or Lander. Danger, revenge and yummy BDSM love.

Loved the book it was great, the story was well written and the characters are interesting. This book was amazing the about Lander and Skye. Lander has a secret and pushes Skye away trying to Keep his distance. Skye is keen on Lander she writes a lot of the music with Lander, the closeness and working together made Skye fall for Lander.

Lander and Skye, he sent her away and she did not know why. Now she's back and it's all or nothing for him. She said yes, and it's one heck of a ride. You are led to believe that you know who the bad person is up until halfway through the book, then wham, all these other options come into play and doubt is projected to other secondary characters. Loved the intrigue, it's a definite page turner, a definite hot read and a definite recommend from me.

This is one of my all time favorite books of Maggie Carpenter’s. She gives you everything in one book. Love, Crime, Mystery and Suspense and keeps you guessing to the end.

Not only do you fall in love with Skye and Landon but the rest of the Rising Sun boys Jake and Scott and their manager Patrick.

She could have written an entirely series on all the characters but she packed them all in one book! The way she writes makes you imagine your right there with them on the pages.

Lander and Skye have come together again, both with each other and his band after he cut her loose eight months ago to protect her. There is a bit of a mystery and some crime solving as part of the storyline. I really like that the other band members find/recognize love during the story.

Steamy Rockstar romance.

Amazing story of suspense, love , second chances . Has everything that I love in a story. Alpha male , spankings, sexy scenes. Fantastic characters. Love Lander and Skye, chemistry is outstanding. So glad that they were giving a second chance.

Good read!

I very much enjoyed this book, though in the beginning I really did not anticipate that I would like some of the sexual content. However, I also did not anticipate that those scenes would be done as tastefully as they were presented, so I was pleasantly surprised. Good read.

Don't like

Sorry but not into this type of book. The idea that the girl was the reason it made or broke the band just wasn't sense if that's the case they would sound bad even if she was with them. I don't care for the sex part and asking to get married at a concert is weird. Not much on the band playing either.

The writing in this book is so terrible it’s almost juvenile!! I only got about about a fifth of the way through and I had to quit reading because I couldn’t take it anymore. It jumps for POV to POV and it’s hard to keep up with so many characters. Not a fan of this one!

Lander Love. What a name. He had so much baggage he was dragging with him that you understood why he pushed Skye away. His need for control and dominance sure came out strong once they got back together. I loved the way Lander and Skye had of stopping time.
