A live sample of the deadly H7N9 flu virus has been delivered to terrorists as ransom in a kidnapping. It’s being synthetically engineered as a bioweapon to deter the United States and Israel from attacking Iran.
Adam Drake, an attorney and former Special Forces operator, has agreed to help an old friend, who is a private investigator, find the kidnapped victim. She’s the daughter of a research biologist who was working to develop a vaccine for the H7N9 virus when his daughter was kidnapped.
It’s not clear who kidnapped the biologist’s daughter, but Drake realizes that whoever it was, the virus is in the hands of the wrong people. He knows he stands a better chance of getting the daughter back if the FBI isn’t involved, but going it alone risks not getting the sample of the virus back before it disappears on the black market, or worse.
Another complex story to keep you wondering as the pieces unfold. I hope there really are teams like Adam Drake and Chase Fulton out there at the ready. Our enemies are ruthless and playing totally "nice" won't win the games they play. Looking forward to the next chapters.
Although this book is fictional, it's terrifying to think about something like this (or anything else) happening in real life. It was an intense and intriguing story with many unexpected twists that you won't want to miss! I would definitely recommend this book, series, and outstanding author.
I've read each book on this series and have enjoyed every one. Each is a unique story that will hold your interest and turning pages late into the the night. Can't wait to see what the president has in store for Drake.
Scott Matthews has a way about spinning a great novel. Combine that with his excellent character development, you feel like you are there. If you haven’t read one of Scott’s novels, I strongly recommend picking one up. You won’t regret it.
Great series of books, good believable story lines Characters have depth with good back stories I particularly like the fact that the female characters are just as capable as the men
A very well written book with an interesting and believable storyline. A great continuation of the always ready for whatever terror is waiting around the corner, Adam Drake.
AS it was for Books #1-9, I thoroughly enjoyed the camaraderie between all the characters, especially Casey and Drake. Both are so loyal to their family, friends and people that they interact with,
Adam and Liz rock! And Mike too.....and all the rest of them
I absolutely love these characters and their adventures. I am a huge fan of Jack Ryan, and Jr., Amos Decker, Michael Bennet, Kyle Achilles, and of course Gabriel Allon, but these characters just come to life so vividly, they are my new favorites! I have read all of the books in the series and they just keep getting better. So contemporary, so smart, and so fun to hang out with. I hope they have many more adventures!!
