What’s worse than being possessed? Repossessed . . .
Laurel thought seeing her mother possessed was bad, but she finds it hard to keep up her spirits when Thelma is struck by lightning and possesses a man with a less than wholesome reputation. There will be grave consequences when Thelma, who is not in her own body, is the main suspect in a murder, and Ian goes camping.
Will Thelma give up the ghost? Will Laurel solve the murder in due corpse?
It's a dead certainly that this is the new paranormal . . .
USA Today best-selling author Morgana Best survived a childhood of deadly spiders and venomous snakes in the Australian outback. Morgana Best writes cozy mysteries and enjoys thinking of delightful new ways to murder her victims.
RePossessed! That’s a whole different level than a ‘mere’ possession!
So. Much. Fun. So. Much. Laughter. But let’s not forget the mystery, which was full of twists and turns. And the mayhem! I loved how Laurel was trying to balance solving the whole repossession thing, what to do with Thelma’s body, the murder mystery, and her relationship. It made for a very entertaining read, that’s for sure.
Even though I was supplied with an early version of this book by the author, it in no way influenced my opinion. This is my true and honest review.
I laughed my way through Repossessed. Morgana Best is who you are looking for when you need a comedic escape. When lightening strikes Thelma and her new boarder, Dylan -a party hard ladies man, the fun begins. Thelma’s spirit has entered Dylan. There has been a murder. Thelma is a suspect, along with a couple of other church gardeners. The church camping trip is a good time for Laurel to get some answers. She is just itching to get to know Eliza and Celia better. If only her mom would stop popping up in Dylan in the most inconvenient ways. Laurel will need to keep her mom on ice while she solves this one. If you are in need of some madcap fun to escape the year we are having, take an armchair trip down under. Ms Best kindly provides an Australian slang and terms section at the beginning of her books. I love languages and honestly look forward to this section. I am getting pretty good with the most common ones and looking for the new word(s), is a lot of fun. If you haven’t read the series, I would suggest you get the set. They are quick reads and will keep you laughing.
I love this book like I do all of the series and every one that this author has written. When Thelma and a guest of the B&B are struck by lightning while standing side-by-side, Thelma’s spirit enters the guest’s body but neither realizes it. Eddie the ghost says the guest, who is a womanizer, must be kept happy and at peace so Thelma’s spirit can be reunited with her body. Laurel and Basil try to keep Thelma’s body hidden and literally on ice until then. In the meantime, the police are wanting to question Thelma about a man who was found murdered in the church’s garden. The longer they can’t reach Thelma the more they suspect her of committing the murder. I laughed out loud while reading the church camp scenes. I love the book and this series.
RePossessed is Book 6 in the Witch Woods Funeral Home Series by Morgana Best. I LOVE this series. If you want to laugh, you need to read this book. The characters are so much fun. There is a mystery and also a repossession which in itself is hilarious.
I love how Laurel and Basil's relationship has progressed through the book , but just enough to add to the story line. The book grabs you from page one and doesn't let you go until you have finished.
And you will laugh out loud along the way.
This is a stand alone story, but you will love all the stories, so I recommend reading them all.
I had read all the books in the series and found the last one to be the best so far. So, when I received notification in my E-mail that Morgana Best had just published a new one, I had to buy it at the full price.
This book had the usual cast of characters: Laurel, Basil, Ian, Ernie, and Tara. Laurel's mother is the focal point of the book but due to extenuating circumstances, she is not a part of the book. It all begins when Laural's mother (Edna) and her Bed and Breakfast guest get struck by lightning and Edna's soul goes into the guest's (Dylan's) body. Technically, Edna is dead so Laural has to "put her on ice" at the mortuary so she doesn't rot and so that her body will be ready to receive her soul when the circumstances are right for the soul to jump back into her original body.
Of course, since this is a cozy mystery, there has to be a murder and that victim is the local "bad guy" who is murdered by being given wolfbane. There are 4 suspects counting Laurel's mom whom the police think murdered the victim. The others are all members of the church that Laurel's mom belongs to.
Hijinks ensue and Laurel sets out to solve the murder while keeping her mother on ice in hopes that she will jump back into her own body when the time is right. There are several red herrings but rest assured that the real murderer is caught by the end of the book.
If you've never read anything in this series you will still laugh your sox off at the antics the characters provide including s'mores causing all the tents in the campground going up in flames and finding oneself in the forest heeding the call of nature among a patch of stinging nettles. There's no bears in Australia?! If you're already into the Witch Woods Funeral home you'll laugh even harder as Laurel's mother causes even more havoc! Loved it!
When Thelma and her new guest are both struck by lightning, They are both killed, and before the medics can arrive Thelma’s ghost has possessed her new tenant.
Now Laurel has to keep Thelma’s body frozen and hidden so that when she goes back into her own body, she will still have a body that’s not buried, or she will be dead forever.
Laurel has to babysit Dylan Jackson as he has a reputation around town, and she needs to make sure he stays safe, because if something happens to him, her mother also dies.
It’s not quite so easy to keep her mother's body hidden as she has become a suspect in the murder of one of the gardening members that nobody including Thelma liked, and had had multiple rows with.
This is a fun story with a bit of humor and a lot of misdirection.
Omg..what do you get when you have, a very religious mom, a playboy renter, and a ghost who pops in and out at the most inconvient times? You get this hilarious story. When lightning strikes 2 people at the exact same time, one spirit leaves and one spirit takes over the other body! What could possibly go wrong? Poor Laurel has to hid her moms body until her spirit returns from Dylans playboy body. Sounds easy enough, but she also has to make sure his body isnt buried with moms spirit or she cant return to her own body. Its a good thing Ernie, the old man ghost is around to help. This storyline is not the usual ghost story. This one is so much fun to read. The author really knows how to use her words to make you laugh. I highly recommend this fun book.
Such a great read! Best enjoyed if other books in the series have been read. The repossession parts will have you laughing. Love the characters! Can’t wait for the next book! I received an advance readers copy of the book and I’m leaving a voluntary review.
When Laurel's mother and a man who came to stay at her house are standing outside, they both get struck by lightening. But Laurel's mom, Thelma, appears to have died, and while the other man, Dylan Jackson, didn't die, he had something horrible happen to him! Thelma possessed Dylan's body! Now Laurel is stuck hiding Thelma's body in the funeral home's morgue, while keeping a close eye on Dylan for his possession to become apparent. Fraught with confusion and funny moments, Laurel has to attend prayer meetings, and a 3 day camping experience in order to keep her eye on the Dylan/Thelma situation. I laughed many times, rolled my eyes, giggled, and generally read non-stop until I finished the book. Wonderful characters with often improbable situations make this book a real delight! Highly recommended for everyone! Great addition to the series!
Enjoyed the book until the end. The ending seemed like slam, bam, Thank you ma'am type of ending; which is not Ms. Best's normal style. I can understand her wanting to end the series, but surely there was a more satisfying way to do so. It isthe ending which causes me to give such a low score.
I love these Witch Wood Funeral Home books. There's always lots of laughs along with great characters and a good mystery. This one involves lightning, possession and a murder. It's always fun to see what Laurel gets into while solving a murder. They just keep getting better.
Another murder in Witch Woods but this time Laurel’s mom is a suspect. A lightning strike, a camp out and a plant themed funeral...what could go wrong for Laurel. The final chapter is hilarious.
I like the Witch Woods Funeral Home Cozy mysteries. This one was ok. I like it better if it hadn't jumped around so much and had more of the ghosts in it. It was a fast read.
The last 2 books in this series have been my favourites. I have really enjoyed them and have spent quite a bit of time laughing. Hope there will be more in this series
