Blake Karrington is more than an author. He’s a storyteller who places his readers in action-filled moments. It’s in these creative spaces that readers are allowed to get to know his complex characters as if they’re really alive.

Most of Blake’s titles are in the South in urban settings that are often overlooked by the mainstream. But through Blake’s eyes, readers quickly learn that places like Charlotte, NC can be as gritty as they come. It’s in these streets of this oft overlooked world where Blake portrays murderers and thieves alike as believable characters. Without judgement, he weaves humanizing backstories that serve up compelling reasons for why a drug dealer might choose a life of crime.

Readers of speak of the roller coaster ride of emotions that ensues from feeling anger at empathetic characters who always seem to do the wrong thing at the right to keep the story moving forward.

In terms of setting,Blake’s stories introduce his readers to spaces they may or may not be used to - streetscapes with unkept, cracked sidewalks where poverty prevails, times are depressed and people are broke and desperate. In Blake storytelling space, morality is so curved that rooting for bad guys to get away with murder can sometimes seem like the right thing for the reader to do - even when it’s not.

Readers who connect with Blake find him to be relatable. Likening him to a bad-boy gone good, they see a storyteller who writes as if he’s lived in world’s he generously shares, readily conveying his message that humanity is everywhere, especially in the unlikely, mean streets of cities like Charlotte.

Although the plot was intriguing, I thought it lacked substance. I enjoyed how Micah was close to his friends and adored his daughter. With Kelly he was prepared to leave his BM he was all in. Although I didn't care for Tracey's story she lacked accountability and lost focused on the main goal which was staying clean and building a relationship with her daughter , it was intriguing to see the perspective of an addict. There were a few grammar mistakes but this was a cute short story.

Black Love is Real

This was a great love story. A child experiencing the ups and downs of life; a father who tried his best to protect her from every experiencing hurt; a mother who searched for forgiveness from herself & others; a woman who through many trials still was blessed with a HEA! The fight where love won! Peace won! Family won! Great job!

Good, but needed one more round of editing

Overall, I did like the book. Micah was definitely my favorite part of the book. I loved how Micah loved his daughter and was around his friends. Even with Kelly, once he was ready to move on from his BM, that was it. He was all in. What kept taking me out of the story was the editing. One more go-round and this could’ve been a five star book. Things like lose/loose, mine/mines, here/hear, and even the employee Domonique was spelled differently the very next paragraph just take me out because I’m mentally editing instead of reading to enjoy. Even in the sneak peek for the next book the word is supposed to be “once,” but is presented as “wants”. This is my first book by Blake and I’m going to read the second book because I can’t leave series books unread, but hopefully the editing issue gets resolved in his other books.

What do you do when you're a successful businessman and the king of the streets with a baby momma that's a crackhead? A question Micah found himself asking repeatedly. He wanted nothing but the best for Tracey, but the truth of the matter was Tracey had to want it for herself. Cutting her off and moving forward with his happiness, Micah finds himself eyeing another damsel in distress, Kelly. The women in Micah's complicate everything he's trying to do, but real men never falter or waver.

I really enjoyed this book! I love me a crackhead and Tracy had me all in at the beginning of this book. Micah had the swagger of a king and I loved how he handled all the situations that came his way. Amanda, a sub-character, was my favorite, but the rest of the characters were likeable as well. Can't wait to read the spin-off.

Micah was it for me 😍 I loved this book. Micah is bae and it really addresses the questions on how much you should extend yourself to a love one who is spiraling out of control. I understand what Tracey was going through is a sickness but she was being unrealistic with her expectations of her family and Amanda had to break that down for her. I loved Kelly, loved how she tried to be the bigger person while maintaining her boundaries. I can’t wait for Amanda and Kaiser’s story. Really enjoying Blake’s work thus far.

Another Blake Karrington hit!

I’ve never been disappointed with any of Mr. Karrington’s books, and wasn’t disappointed with this one either. It was interesting from beginning to end. There were a couple of errors in the book but it didn’t take away from the storyline. I loved Micah and Kelly’s relationship and she was really good with Eniko. Pop Pop didn’t take no mess about his family and he let Tracey know that. Great book and I can’t wait to read the spinoff.

❤❤

This was really good read. Really smooth and to the point. I loved the loyalty and bonds built in this book. Now Tracey was on her high horse but honestly didn't have a reason to be, she was just as much apart of the family as anyone but she had no more hold on Micah. I am glad she came to her senses. I love how Zack comes in and handle things like a thief in the night. He has no problems protecting what's his. Now Ms. Kelly is definitely a firecracker but also a sweetheart. She helped a person she didn't even know without no regards. I love how she is with Micah as well as Niko. They all fit good together. Micah definitely a boss and handles his own problems as well as Kelly's without even thinking. I am glad we get to see more from Amanda, Kaiser and hopefully Karma. They are all just as funny and don't hold back.

The day Micah met Kelly, there was an immediate attraction. Micah knew what he wanted and protected the ones he loved. He tried for a long time to help his ex-wife Tracey and finally washed his hands of the situation. Micah finally began to think of himself and his happiness. Thanks to Pop-Pop, who also did not play when it came to his family and Kelly was now included.

Tracey acted as though what she did was okay, and people needed to get over it. I feel she never took full responsibility for her part in the demise of her marriage and the relationship with their daughter. Her cousin Amanda never held back from speaking the truth to her. She also didn't let the fact that Tracey had issues with Kelly stop her from liking her. Honestly, Tracey should have been grateful for Kelly.

I'm glad they never allowed the issues with their exes to pose a problem in what they were building.

Warning & Consequences

“A Thug Worth Fighting For: A Urban Love Novella The Urban Love Series - Book 1)” was a good read. However, Tracey’s behind (🤬😤😡) was annoying! The audacity to project family and parental entitlements, demands onto Micah/Eniko etc. was brazen, selfish & unrealistic. The treatment facility didn’t properly prepare Tracey for her life post addiction and sobriety. Thereafter, I’m glad was Micah able to move on with life. He & Kelly make a cute couple. ..but his (& Pop Pop Zack) other persona are/were savages. …Ask Boogie & Damien, both suffered consequences of Z’s wrath. “And you don’t have to worry about contacting Boogie for payment. Both he & Damien have gone on to be with the Lord.” Tracey you’ve been warned🤷🏾‍♀️ 🤭‼️

Micah a smart Alpha male..owns his realty business and as his side hustle...is a FAMILY man, whose family has been torn apart by a bad habit. He fights for peace and structure in his daughter Enoki life. He has a battle to protect her and a new woman by the name of Kelly who has him seeing something good in his eyes. This book deals with the nuances of family life..pain..addiction..lost love and new love. Enoki was a pretty strong young Lady to handle all that was going on. I enjoyed the character of his dad Zechariah and cousin Amanda and his best friends for life the brothers Karma and Kaiser were ALL Part of a Excellent story💪🔥❤🔥❤🍷

Good read

This was a nice read, the drama did not go overboard and that was great. Of course there were some things that irritated me a little like Kelly leaving the office without informing Micah, but other than that it was great. I was happy for Tracey when she got her ish together. She learned her lesson and Blake didn't make her out to be this villain that couldn't let go throughout the whole story. She started out as a deadbeat mother, but she made sure her daughter was safe during those times, she didn't try to hide her addiction and then become an abusive mother. Eventually she got it together. I love it.

Omg, this story was everything!!

First time reading anything from this author and omg, this story was everything!! I have followed him searching his books as we speak. I am so in love with the characters the way he set the scene up with these chance meetings. The one who saves your life could ultimately be the one who takes your life technically. Micah was everything to Teresa until he wasn't, couldn't be. Amanda is the real friend, she takes no sides and gives zero (F***)s. Kelly got him and took the I work for the boss theme to a whole nother level. These twins need a story to themselves because this book wasn't long enough for three Alpha males. I loved this story.

Man... this book was so good! I love me some Micah. He’s definitely book bae. If you’re familiar with my boy Blake work you would know his leading male characters be something else!😑😂🤣 but Micah is everything just like I thought he would be. Great storyline. Everything flowed so well together. Pop pop was my favorite as well. Great father and grandfather 💕 I can’t stand Tracy and even in the end I was still side eyeing her but I’m glad she eventually came to her senses. Love Kelly & Micah together💜

Very good novella.

I certainly enjoyed Micah, Kelly, Tracy, Niko, Pop Pops story. It includes Kaiser and his brother. Tracy was strung out on drugs and wouldn't get off for anyone except her daughter. She went through a thirty day rehabilitation and was sure
things would return the way it use to be; however, by that time Micah had met Kelly. Bill had a great relationship with her father and grandfather. Damien was useless and took advantage of Kelly. I don't understand why Kelly put Diem name on her accounts. That was a bad move. Overall a good book.

A Quick Read

This was a good story. I enjoyed reading about Micah and Kelly. The story was short but thorough. I felt like it was rushed since Kelly got pregnant so quick. I felt bad for Micah's ex but she chose her path. I'd really like a spin-off on the father. He seems like a story waiting to be read. Looks like we'll be reading more on Kaiser and Amanda based on the sneak peek. I think it's called "Who Can I Run To".

Good Stuff

This was an enjoyable experience, with a story that spoke of real life happenings. I love the fact that the writer ,let's Tracey come to her senses and realize that ,the moves she was making were for the wrong reasons. I was starting to have a bad taste because the ex is always left with going off the deep end. The story moves a really good pace and we get to see some really good moments. This was good storytelling and one to pass on.Oh and love me some Amanda!

This was a great novella!!

It was predictable, but entertaining none the less. Micah was the Man right out the gate!!! Kelly deserved some happiness on all fronts. Loved Eniko and Micahs relationship, a lot of girls today would wish for the same. Tracey really was besides herself, she have kept doing her instead of going the road she went. Heaven was a lesson for Kelly, when someone shows who they are believ them!!!!

Ok

This was a ok read it wasn't bad but wasn't for me. I just didn't connect with any of the characters something was missing I just wanted it to be over in all honesty. I did however find pop interesting the way he handled Tracey was smooth so it got me thinking about how he was when he ran things. I felt like Kelly overstepped at one point and Tracey was selfish on drugs and off

Finding a real boss❤️

Well Mr, Karrington has done it again and blessedly with some real bosses to swoon over. Micah is book bae from the moment he character speaks in this book and I loved they way it showed flawed and real love between a couple and the people around them🥰. I can’t wait to see who else is from this group of G’s discovers his true queen and wife’s her!

I read this because of a suggestion

Although the story was interesting, I had to skim a good bit. In the story, mines nearly took me out. Mines does not need 'S'... That was so distracting in the story because of the frequent usage. I need to stick with slight Urban...Micah. Meh! and the rest of the crew... I'm out...

Another great book from my favorite author! Micah is that dude in this book. He was too good to drug addict baby moma Tracey. I was so glad when he moved on with his life. He deserved a rider like Kelly. Read the book to find out about their relationship. I'm on to the next book!

Great Read

This is my first read from this author and I loved it. I typically tend to shy away from male authors because it often feels like the storyline is too "hard", but this was a very balanced story.

A Thug Worth Fighting For

Micah showed up and showed out. He showed Tracy all her flaws while effortlessly loving Kelly. This story showed how a change can hurt a family while teaching a lesson at the same time. Good read
