'This book attempts to show something of the stature of Jesus to explain him but not to explain him away; to listen to his voice, not to drown it; to admire him, and to urge his uniqueness and his lordship upon a world so short of heroes and upon a Church which has put away childish things.' In The Glory of Christ Peter Lewis skilfully sets today's critical questions concerning Christ against the glorious backdrop of the goal of humanity and the sovereignty of God. With warmth and insight he considers what Christ claimed for himself and what the early church claimed about him. He also gives close biblical and practical attention to Christ's atonement, exaltation and Second Coming. This is a book of pastoral scholarship which will richly repay careful study by Christians the world over.
Peter H. Lewis is a well-known conference and convention speaker and a member of the Theological Coission of the World Evangelical Fellowship. He has contributed to several books and is the author of The Genius of Puritanism.
If you want to get deeper into the glories and mysterious of our great God and Saviour, our high priest, best friend, elder brother and Lord - read this. Wonderful Christology and probably the best I’ve ever read.
Excellent and thorough book on the subject of 'The Glory of Christ, knowing the man who is God'. The book covers a lot of very helpful teaching on Christ, well supported by Biblical references, written by a very good preacher, minister and author. One of the most helpful chapters was that on the 'Cosmic Christ' based upon Colossians 1:15-1:20. Ideal reference book. Best to read over a reasonable period of time, e.g. a single chapter per sitting followed by a pause for reflection and application.
