GRAB YOURSELF SOME COMICAL, FEEL-GOOD FICTION.
CJ Morrow writes the kind of fiction she likes to read and since her taste is varied so are her books. She loves a romcom with a guaranteed happy ending, equally she loves a psychological thriller especially where the ending is a plausible shocker.
When she doesn't like what's going on in the world, she writes another one.
Word weaver, lover of things curious, unseen and unexplainable, general wordy person. Always watching and laughing, mostly at herself.
Pamela's waited all of her life for a cruise but she's also been waiting to start living. A dryly funny and heartwarming story that had me gripped from the very first page. Her cruise of a lifetime turns into something much more important than a mere holiday. I felt as if I were on Pamela's journey with her as she deals with horrible, mealy mouthed Fiona who would try the patience of a saint! I don't want to spoil the story by saying too much so I suggest you read this wonderful book for yourself.
I felt sorry for Pamela. She saved hard for this holiday & things can go wrong on a cruise, I should know. Then being treated by someone that should been more considerate well I know I wouldn't have put up with it

I actually enjoyed this book a lot, however, I found the speed of the ending too quick. It felt like the entire conclusion of the book was rushed into one very short chapter, and I have to say, I felt a little cheated and disappointed with it.
I loved this book you really engage with the characters even Fiona who you start hating but then the truth comes out about why she is that way and your feelings shift. Full of laughs but also covers some hard topics but it’s done in a really supportive way. A must read
Pamela Rigby's journey to a trip never thought of and a person who becomes intolerant so as to testing her patience to finding something not thought of at an age is worth going through. How sometimes hidden truths bring you together.. Go through this journey and find out.. Don't forget it is Pam.. Pamela Rigby.. Another interesting read from CJ Morrow
Eleanor 'Pamela' Rigby is in her fifties, working in a garden centre and has been waiting all of her life for something more. Like the lyrics to the Beatles song she was named after, she is afraid that she is going to die a lonely person with nobody at her funeral.
But she has high hopes that things are about to turn around. Badly in need of a holiday, she's booked passage on a luxury cruise. She has found a woman online named Fiona who is willing to be her travelling companion and help cut costs where possible. She's about to take her first vacation in years and she can't wait.
Unfortunately Fiona is not the fun instant friend that Pamela was hoping for, and when her cruise plans are derailed, Pamela finds herself unexpectedly encountering someone from her past.
This is the second book that I've read by C.J. Morrow and I'm sensing a theme in her books—although they appear to be light and fluffy reads on the outside, they touch on more serious issues too. Like other reviewers have mentioned, I was quite frustrated with Pamela for allowing other people to take advantage of her. However I feel like the personal issue she dealt with at a young age is a plausible explanation for her passive behaviour.
And speaking of age, I think this is the first 'chick-lit' book that I've ever read with a female protagonist in her fifties who hasn't gotten divorced because her husband cheated on her. Kudos to C.J. Morrow for this! It's never too late to change your life at any time, for any reason.
Three stars for this humorous read that will have you thinking twice about finding travel companions online.
It was an OK read, both Fiona and Pamela annoyed me all the way through it. Fiona was selfish and mean, Pamela a doormat. While it came out why Fiona was the way she was, not many people would take the treatment she dished out without retaliating. I found myself wanting the book to end, but strangely, felt I needed to know the ending. The only characters I liked were Carl and Fran.
CJ Morrow never disappoints. Pamela has saved for years for her dream cruise holiday. She can’t afford a single cabin, so agrees to share a cabin with Fiona, who she meets through an online forum. Pam is having a great holiday, until things suddenly go wrong after Fiona has an accident and breaks her leg.
I love CJ's books normally, but I didn't enjoy this one. I found it frustrating and unbelievable. I am the type who always finishes a book, and I finished. However, there was a lot of skipping pages as it was just annoying that someone could be such a door mat.
Is enjoyed this book but all the way through found it extremely disturbing how a woman could carry on being manipulated by another woman in the way that Pamela was. All the way through the book I wanted to shout “what the hall.” I found the ending a real disappointment and very rushed,
