Ikegami has worked on several popular series, such as Mai, the Psychic Girl with writer Kazuya Kudo, Crying Freeman, with writer Kazuo Koike, as well as Sanctuary and Heat with writer Sho Fumimura. He also wrote and drew Spider-Man: The Manga, a manga version of Spider-Man and collaborated with Garon Tsuchiya for the manga BOX (BOX 暗い箱). His most recent work is Lord currently serialized in Big Comic Superior.

The crying Freeman is an assassin with a whole organisation behind him, he has his moniker due to the fact he is sad when hé takes a human life and sheds tears for the loss of said life.
The book opens with a widow who wants revenge for the death of her man and the loss of power. She has hired the world best and rather vicious 2 meter tall wrestler. They attack an operative of the organisation in order to bait the Freeman.
And when hé takes the bait it is because hé wants to find out what is behind their revenge. There is indeed another layer and motive which would change the face of Japan forever.
The Crying Freeman and his wife both have strengths and skills but are vastleggen underestimated.
I did enjoy the story about honor & family. The art is just beautifull and the B/W presentation is stunning. Some parts are very explicit in erotism but it is a important part of the tale.

This book rules. Full of some nasty shit, it's a pretty great story. I personally think Ikegami's art can be a little stiff at times, but that doesn't take away from the fact that his brushwork is fucking amazing. I want more Freeman!
