It was the late author Bill Crider, with his 'Outrage at Blanco' novel that made me love revenge stories so much and in away revenge stories for me will always be a tribute to him.
This was my second read from the author Carlton Stowers, 'Ralph Compton's Dalton's Justice' has all the elements you expect in Western, it's a decade after the Civil War, set in Texas and has the classic good verse evil theme to it.
Ben Dalton comes home from fighting for the Confederacy in the Civil War, only to find that his best friend married the girl he loved and moved to Fort Worth to be a lawyer. 10 A decade later, Ben is the town Marshall in his hometown of Aberdeen, Texas, when he gets a telegram from Mandy asking for him to come help his childhood friend Johnny Rawlings who is in jailed for murder in Fort Worth.
Totally wasn't expecting, Dalton's Justice to be as good as it was, reading the back you think it's going to be something hokey and it's actually a real good read.

A typical cowboy story. Rich man bullies everyone in town, gets in trouble, trys to start a war is shot from an unexpected source, etc. etc. Fun read.
