Inspector Pandurang Jagtap of the Maharashtra police has a lot on his hands. He is in the transfer pool which will mean moving out of his beloved Mumbai. To complicate things further, his first murder investigation begins from a footpath, leads to an erstwhile gangster & puts him on collision course with the National Investigation Agency. Pandurang keeps digging even after being moved to a different case involving the death of a notorious social activist. His budding romance with Bhavna is soon under stress as the investigations drag him in a vortex of political connections, personal threats & surveillance on everybody related to him. In the meantime, Mumbai is on a high alert for an imminent terrorist strike that promises to outdo the bomb blasts of 1993. Entire national intelligence apparatus is awake to the possibility of this threat being the handiwork of the same man that carried them out in 1993. As Pandurang & friends connect his cases to the man behind the planned attacks, can they stop him in time?
The book has really attractive and well designed cover. It’s the book one of Mumbai PJ series. I will briefly give idea about the story so that you will come to know about the book. It’s a book of suspense thriller genre or murder mystery we can say. The story is loosely based on Mumbai and parts of Maharashtra. The main characters of the story is Inspector Pandurang Jagtap. Recently he has been transferred and allotted his first murder investigation. His first murder investigation began from footpath. But as he tried to found links, he realised that this case has more to offer or investigate than it seems. Like every plot, he suspected involvement of gangster, political connections, being transferred to another case and bit of romance. I won’t discuss much of it as it will reveal spoilers. But this can be a Bollywood movie. It has each and every component for it. I liked the plot. It’s of my favourite genre and author has written it too perfectly. It’s a page turner. The narration style of the author is captivating that won’t let your attention wander around. Author has used good vocabulary and language. There are lot’s of twists and turns and numerous characters that make the plot interesting. I liked how it ended because it was completely unpredictable for me. And I liked the bit touch of local language in the conversation. Overall good one. Recommended from my side.
Mousebite by Ganesh Chaudhri After so many days I picked up this book because suspense and crime thriller is my favorite genre and I really need this kind of book who took me out of my reading slump and finally this book did it. What a well executed crime thriller based on the backdrop of Mumbai's crime world and leads the story towards terrorists Activity too. Story is very fast paced and gripping that it hooked me till the end . The way the author presented this story, the characters and how all things linked from each other made my interest intact throughout. The Story is about Inspector Pandurang Jagtap of the Maharashtra police, who's on the edge of transfer .His first murder investigation begins from a footpath, leads to an erstwhile gangster and towards terrorists activities. His budding romance with Bhavna is soon under stress as the investigations drag him in a vortex of political connections, personal threats & surveillance on everybody related to him. There are a lot more things that unfolds later in the story. Writing style of the author is fine and the topic is also well researched because there are a lot of things put together in this story but I couldn't find a loophole so it shows the dedication of the author. Highly recommended who loves to read suspense and thriller .
Pandurang Jagtap, a cop from in the Dadar Police Station in Mumbai, Maharashtra is about to receive a transfer. Just then he is assigned a footpath murder case. He is determined to work hard on this one as it is his first murder case. Soon he realized that this isn’t merely a murder case, this is much more than that.
The story weaves a strong narrative of Mumbai based crime which grows into a web of gangsters, terrorism, politicians, and other dangerous things that puts the lives of Jagtap and people related to him at risk. The detailing of the police station, the system, the surrounding of the city, everything is so descriptive that you could easily see the scene in your brain.
With a strong grip of mystery and thrill, the book delivers a great story with strong characters and their situations. The author’s debut book doesn’t feel debut at any point. I liked the book because of its fast pace, good plot, and a stronghold over the language.
There are times when one starts a book and has a few expectations about it. The day I started this one there was one word that made its mark and that was mousetrap, cause mouse aren't people whom I like having around, even Jerry never had my love. Then the story started unfolding and oh man I was hooked. The plot, the language and even the place where it is based in everything came together. It was like reading a high octave Bollywood thriller, only without the songs and I had rain as my background score. In short, my rainy day was made awesome! And since time and again I have told anyone who have lend me their ears that I hate rain trust me it's quite a feat. Quick question- What's your spirit animal?
The complete story revolves around the protagonist Inspector Pandurang Jagtap as he has been transferred from Mumbai and involved into a murder investigation. He realized that it was not simple and he has to find it from the root of this case which consequences were getting the worst with time.
At the parallel time, Mumbai is on a high alert for an imminent terrorist strike that promises to outdo the bomb blasts of 1993. What's the connection between two simultaneous incidents? Can our protagonist stop this? Grab the book to know the entire story.
It's appreciating that the author has constructed the entire plot with full of suspense, thrill and mystery which is brilliant indeed. The characters are very well developed with a proper introduction. The complete story is very engaging and page turner for sure. The smooth words made this story fast paced.

A murder mystery, nothing more is to be said to me for picking up this book.
This story is about Inspector Pandurang's first case. And how a simple investigation leads to something way more dangerous.
This is author's debut book and it's so amazing. I love reading mystery books, and this book didn't disappoint me at all. I absolutely loved how gripping this book is. The narration of the book is so spectacular, it would leave you completely hooked. The language used is absolute perfect and the flow of the narration is perfect. The twist and turns are placed at perfect time.
Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed the book and would definitely recommend it.
This story is based in Mumbai and revolves around a police Inspector named Pandurang Jagtap. He is assigned a footpath murder case and is determined to find the culprit. Soon he realises there is much more to the case than what meets the eye. As Pandurang starts digging deep, we see many more facets like gangsters, terrorists, politicians.
The plot is very well woven and keeps us on the edge till the very end. The story has both mystery and excited, felt like I was watching a movie. The characters are well built and executed. Language is simple and keep you engaged.
Once in a while, we come across some books that completely blow our minds and change our beliefs and perceptions. These are the books that become the "role models" to all the books we read in that genre. When it comes to thrillers; that's David Baldacci and his books for me, but this one is particularly about Indian thriller writers. Whenever it will come to ''The best Indian thriller I have ever read'', Ganesh Chaudhari's "Mousebite" will be the first book that will come to my mind. . If I have to summarise this book in just one word, then it would be a "MASTERPIECE". For a debut novel, this book is just too perfect to qualify everything that a thrill-seeker needs, and Ganesh Chaudhari is done a marvelous job with it. To be honest I still can't grasp the fact that this is the author's first book because as the first peace of work, it should have some mistakes and down points right? And I found none! . The author literally created a cinematic experience that I crave for and to be more precise; he involved me as a reader through each and every step of the story. Characterization is my favorite part about this book; every chapter has been well crafted, designed, and set around the story with motives and reasons. I always believe that there's nothing more dangerous than an author who knows what he's doing: Ganesh Chaudhari has become one of them. . Pandurang Jagtap is the main protagonist and the story revolves around him getting assigned to his first case and then little he knows is that it would turn out something as a threat to the national security. The whole story runs from different angles by all different characters putting the problem in the center and from the start to the end it is gripping enough to keep a reader glued to it. The author has justified everything that he presents; either it's introducing minor characters or providing background of all relevant characters, either it's protagonist's angle or the antagonist's, they all have reasons where I connected with them. . It's simply a masterpiece and I can't wait to read more books of this series whenever the author will release them. If you are into thrillers, then you must have to read this gem.
With a perfect blend of action, mystery, and a pinch of Bollywood cliché-ness, Mousebite is an ideal read for someone looking for a quick thrill in its Indian elements. Even before reading the novel, the first thing that caught my eye was the cover page. Although subtle in its detailing, it conveys a lot about the story. The novel took me on an exciting journey. Written from the perspective of the protagonist, Pandurang Jagpat, readers get an essence of what goes on through the mind of a police officer. What made this novel so beautiful is the rawness of its characters and its accuracy to the Mumbaikar lifestyle. Using colloquial terms and phrases throughout the book, Chaudhari does not sugarcoat his characters or settings. What struck me the most was the neutrality maintained while introducing characters. Chaudhari chose to present them rather than showcase them in a biased light from the get-go. The flaws within the characters, the system, and the city reflect authentic Mumbai, a city of dreams and dangers. The book successfully captured the Indian essence, but occasionally it leaned towards Bollywood clichés. While the Indian elements were nice, they sometimes overshadowed the excitement. Some parts of the story were easy to predict, and certain things felt overused, which made the plot somewhat familiar. The conversations between characters were sometimes difficult to follow as detailing often got in between the flow of action. Nevertheless, using clever dialogues and honest characterisation, Mousebite gives readers a conventional novel with a refreshingly new perspective. I highly recommend this book to anyone looking for a thrilling novel with a slight tinge of Bollywood. If you like the works of authors like Robin Cook or stories like the Jason Bourne series – this book is perfect for you.

🐛 Police are responsible for maintaining law and order of our country . They try to prevent detect and investigate criminal activities. They are an important backbone of our country. They work 24x7 just to make us unsecure.
🐛 Mousebite is written by Ganesh Chaudhari. The genre of the book thriller along with suspense. The case continues to become more dense day by day. The more he tries to come out of it the more he gets entangled within it. The story captures the readers inside a web of suspense.
🐛 The plot of the story is very interesting and engrossing. As the story proceeds the mystery intensifies more and more. We find a glimpse of Mumbai localities through this book. It is fast paced and gripping, it keeps the readers hooked up till the end. It was full of twist and turns. The cover of the book was simple yet intriguing. The author style is fine and very flawless.
🐛 It is a well written and very well researched. After a long time I read a different story and it had a deep effect on me.
Thrill courses through the book 'Mousebite' by Ganesh Chaudhari as it explores the mysterious death of a man, while the threat of a terrorist attack on the city of Mumbai looms overhead. The first book of the series, Mumbai PJ Book, and also the debut novel of the author. Will Inspector Jagtap be able to find the mastermind and solve the mystery before things go down?
I loved the narration so much. The author worked so well with the research that it made me feel that I was reading the work of a seasoned author. The storyline was super interesting and for most of the facts, I kept guessing until the very end. I liked the layer in the plot, it kept getting bigger and bigger. The characterisation in the novel, while it was quite interesting, could have been better explored. I felt that they could use more depth. The thrill kept me on my feet all throughout.
There were minor grammatical errors here and there which didn't affect my reading but was noticeable. Overall, this is the book for thriller lovers, especially if you love cop stories. With a realistic feel to the book, it was a treat to read.
A book with all the potential to be turned into a tv show or a movie!
I was one of the fortunate ones to get the review copy of the first in the Mumbai PJ series by Ganesh Chaudhari and the book never disappoints. Though it's the very first novel by the Author, it didn't feel like one. The interesting character arcs and the whole plot has got a tremendous potential to be turned into a past paced thriller movie or a web series we would love to binge watch.
The story revolves around the police inspector Pandurang Jagtap and a murder mystery which eventually turns out to be a much bigger plot. What adds more interest to the story is the use of the local language and the detailed description of the locations in Mumbai, which would make even those who haven't been to Mumbai before feel like they know these places and streets. I definitely recommend this one to all the readers out there. :)
Inspector Pandurang Jagtap is assigned his first murder case to solve — that of a footpath dweller; as the Inspector starts his investigation from the footpath where the dead body of Achhu was found, he gathers info that Achhu was not a regular unlike other people from that locality and that he used a mobile. The doctor who conducted the autopsy has more shocking revelations, Achhu has Mousebite — a condition caused due to excessive usage of a computer mouse.
There is a parallel thread of a terrorist Abu Jindal who was extradited from UAE and being questioned, around the same time when well-known terrorist Yakub Memon was hanged. What caused the death of Achhu who was most probably not a ragpicker as he was assumed earlier and how is his death related to the terrorist activity in Mumbai forms the rest of the story.
The story starts with Achhu being picked from a footpath and then left to die; whose murder case is assigned to the protagonist to crack, as Pandurang is on the verge of getting transferred from Mumbai. What starts as a normal roadside death gets complicated with more facts getting unearthed and Pandurang getting pulled into a world he was not expecting to be involved into.
The story is a racy murder mystery which starts slow establishing the main characters, providing their background. Once the story picks pace the narration gets engaging; as the title suggests, Mumbai plays the perfect backdrop for this story, as the author utilizes the locations for impeccably setting the story. The story does give movie feels with the adrenaline-high sequences, that are otherwise mostly seen in Bollywood movies.
For a debut the author does a fabulous job by weaving a water-tight plot for a thriller. If you love reading stories from the thriller genre, then this one is a must read.
"Mousebite" written by Ganesh Chaudhri The story revolves around the police inspector Pandurang Jagtap from the Dadar police station and about the murder mystery. He has been transferred from Mumbai and involved into a murder investigation from a footpath and it's connection with the terrorist attack. The story is full of suspense and thriller.
My Views: The story is based on Mumbai city. The title and the cover are apt to the story. The author very well wrote the plot of the story. The story is engaging and fast-paced thriller. The characters of the story are well developed. The narration and the writing style of the author are good. The story is full of twist and turns. Recommended this book to those who love to read thrillers book.
Crime Suspense and thriller these are such elements which if not written with precision and great composition annihilate the overall story.
Mousebite, the fascinating title and at first glance doesn't gives much hint of what the book is, Though I didn't found the cover appealing. What made me interested in the book was the story.
The story is well crafted and presented. I find a language barrier which stops me in giving it 5 stars as the intensity that could be there according to the potential of story that was missing.
Being the first part I am still very much interested with what is presented in this book and I am excited for what comes next.
If anyone wants to read a brilliant thriller that has mumbai as the main city please read this. A police inspector Pandurang Jagtap is given a murder case to investigate and not even in his dreams he would have thought that this would be something much more bigger than just a murder. Every detailing was just soo amazingly captured and you can just imagine everything happening in front of your eyes. The writing style is very good with an amazing plot and narration. Definitely recommend it. 4.5 stars
I got a very Sacred Games vibe from the plot but that can only be me. It was a moderate sized book of a little over two hundred pages. I completed it in five to six sittings. The plot was intricate enough for me to be engaged. The cover is nice but could've been better. I could not guess the plot twists so it was good enough for me. Things like talking about The Godfather helped me to get engaged. Things like these when introduced in the plot make the reader familiar and I love these personal touches. There were a lot of characters. Each one was fairly developed but I wanted a little more depth. The narration was dicey, the beginning was very good but when the death of the man in the footpath is discovered, the conversation in the chapter was not up to the mark. One editing thing which I did not like was using the ampersand sign when easily the word 'and' could've been used. The episode where he recounts his tale about catching hold of the terrorist and how whenever he was in doubt about his worth, he would go to Arthur Road Jail and have a look at him: it resonated with me on many levels. The poison and how it works (being dissolved in soft drinks etc.) was predictable. From chapter 23 things started picking up and it was a good read.
