The Combat Baker and Automaton Waitress: Volume 6

Rate this book
At the end of the year, the town of Organbaelz holds a Holy Festival to praise the Saint of Europea. It's said that, on the night of the festival, the Saint comes to hand out presents to good children and the Devil comes to take away bad children--and Sven and Lud are going to disguise themselves for these roles! This volume contains the story of the Holy Festival for which the two are bustling about baking new sweets and donning costumes. Also contained within is a story revealing the secrets surrounding Daian Fortuner, AKA the Sorcerer, and a story about Hilde, who has enlisted in an officer's school known as the Preparatory School for Young Ladies. Volume 6 in this popular series revolves around these three stories and the characters after the Genitz's rebellion!

I really enjoyed this one, it has a nice place and a bunch of good characters well developed. THe short stories can be seemed as without connection but as you go and as this kind of books tend to be, those stories will connect in a bigger plan, ONe that is at view and can be easily forgotten. you`ll see more "screening " of some characters old and new , and for me this was a delight and it helped enjoying more and more. The ending surprising as always sets our expectation of what will we see in the next volumes , because it seems that we/(he) will start a new arc from next volume 7 onward. I enjoyed it more than i was thinking

Bit of a breather after the previous two volumes with three short stories of a slightly less violent nature than earlier volumes. It also sets up things for what I suppose is going to be the next volume. Plot was not too original, and the discussion on what makes a human a bit familiar, but all in all, a good read.
