this was so much fun.. i did it with my kiddos.. they are 13, 12, 10, 8, and 6.. they are a lot of fun... and it was so much fun watching them laugh and enjoy figuring these out.. the older ones knew them sometimes before the younger ones but helped them figure it out.. once it clicked they would burst into giggles. it was so much fun.

Be dazzled and challenged – laugh your way to a happy world!

Fresh on the children’s books scene is author Robert Ellis who pens under the sobriquet ‘Uncle Bob.’ He hails from Boston, Massachusetts and fortunately for us, he is inspired to encourage children to read and learn and laugh and make the world a happy place. WOULD YOU RATHER BOOK FOR KIDS is his publishing debut and he is accompanied by illustrators Steve Harlan and Jane Mitchell in this hugely entertaining book (yes, for adults, too!)

Uncle Bob opens his treasure chest with a set of Rules of the Game that establish the setting for maximum impact of the exchange of stimuli to laugh – a point system: “Whoever gets the most laugh scores is officially crowned the ‘Lord of the Laughs.’ And as a hint to the reader, ‘Remember, if you are laughing, you are losing!’

Instructions – ‘We have 10 rounds and starting with Player A, read the question aloud and pick an answer. The same player will then explain why he/she chose that answer in the most hilarious way possible. Don’t forget to use your silliest faces to get your opponent to smile.

An example: ‘PLAYER A - Would you rather change your face color depending on your mood OR Have your nose growing whenever you lie? Wear your underwear on your head every day OR Wear shoes on your hands while walking barefoot? PLAYER B – Would you rather be shaken in a snow globe OR Live in a sandcastle that is constantly changing its shape? Be a giant with tiny hands OR a dwarf with a huge head?

The questions spread across the laugh out loud spectrum of many topics, certainly enough to keep kids entertained (and thinking!) for hours. And while kids will treasure this collection of challenges, more than likely parents/family/friends will join in! Welcome to the world of Uncle Bob. More please! Highly recommended.

Well-Done Would-You-Rather Book!

I have read and reviewed a lot of would-you-rather books. This one is different in several ways, which I think is fun. Rather than have this book just be simply an activity, the author gives specific instructions about making it more of a true game: If Player A makes Player B laugh, Player A gets a point for the scenario. The pages are actually visually interesting, which is always nice in a book aimed at children. Each page has detailed backgrounds that the children can color. The book is divided into ten rounds, and each round has its own background. For instance, the first round has a monkey background, and the second has an elephant background. Many of the would-you-rather questions were actually more interesting and creative than I typically see in these kinds of books. Each round has a specific topic, like gross or animals. All in all, I thought this was a very well-done would-you-rather book.

I received a free copy of this book, but that did not affect my review.
