With so much on the line, the Nosferatu are looking for a savior, and they just might find one in someone they least expect. Veiled- This was an interesting story and one is a one of a kind, but it kept me addicted from beginning to end and on the edge of my seat. Once I started reading, I was sad when I finished it. I just wasn't ready for the story to end.
The characters were amazing. I loved how they came to life right out of the story. I loved how the author used other characters that we know and love and forced them into present day. I also really loved the main female character, Vincenza, in this story as well. This character is just so Rourke's style. She is as sassy and vivacious as the author herself.
The story-line was phenomenal. This was a unique way of bringing forth an amazing adventure full of suspense with a refreshing new look on vampires. I must warn that they author does skip back and forth from the present to the past but it will in the end, catch up with each other and make a lot of sense.
As the author says at the beginning of the book:
"Disclaimer: Every action has an equal and apposite reaction. Make note of the experiment days to line causes from their past to their effects in the present."
I am completely and utterly in love with this story and I highly recommend others to enjoy this wild ride just as I have.
Vlad- Rourke has done it again!! She has brought forth another amazing and unforgettable story about Vlad.
Reading and learning about Vlad and Vincenza's story gave me the shivers up and down my spine. These two characters gave off an immense power from the turn of each page and I couldn't help but be addicted to this story from beginning to end.
The story-line was incredible and the huge cliffhanger ending was extremely shocking too. There was so much blood an gore in this book but it didn't detour me from reading more. I am a blood and gore kind of girl anyway. I was mesmerized by this story and I am literally hunger for more and I highly recommend this read!!
Vendetta- Accept us, or don't. We're donor hiding. -Vincenza
What an amazing way to end this wild trilogy.
The characters were fantastic. I still loved the story of Vincenza and Vlad. They are quite the powerful couple and I felt a true connection with the characters. Vincenza is an hard core, bad ass character.
The story-line was unforgettable. Mixing Vlad the Impalor with Dorian Gray in the story was absolutely genius. Rourke truly brought in all the edge of my seat stops that kept me entertained from beginning to end. It is by far my favorite in this trilogy. Well done, Rourke, well done. I highly recommend this read!!
All-in-all this is a fantastic trilogy with a remarkable and unforgettable characters written in true Rourke fashion with shocking and funny scenes and one awesome kick butt and sassy heroine!!
I've read the full trilogy and loved it! Here are my thoughts on each book.
Veiled (Book 1)- 4 stars
I have read The Unfortunate Souls trilogy by Stacey Rourke and I loved it! When I saw she had a vampire series, and I love vampires, I was excited to start reading this series.
Rourke has a different take on vampires and mixes them into our current modern society, which was refreshing to see. She adds her own twists to the legends and history of vampires and creates a world that's a bit out of the box.
This is like a mix of sci-fi, paranormal, crime, drama, and politics. It's also pretty dark and violent at times.
While the story was engaging and we have a main character who is trying to figure out which side she stands on, it takes on the politics that parallels our current civil movements, and while this is great, I am so not into politics. It brought up many interesting points on both sides and it did play a role in the plot but there were times I was left a little confused and had to go reread a few parts to understand what was going on. Also, the time jumps can make it a little hard to follow but overall, I enjoyed it and will continue to read the series.
Vlad (Book 2)- 5 stars
So while the first book Veiled, was interesting and I overall liked it, Vlad seriously made up for it all. This is one amazing story and really sent this series flying high. I loved the dark, gothic tones, the history of Vlad in which the author really gives us solid, character background and development, and the snarkiness of Vinx. There is witty banter, many twists and turns, and a FREAKIN' cliff hanger that left me wanting more while also being angry at the author for leaving me hanging like that. This kept me very engaged and I can't wait to see where the next book will take us!
Vendetta (Book 3)- 5 stars
This is seriously one of those trilogies where each book just got better and better and Vendetta wrapped up this series perfectly! Now, we could probably use more and get another book but this ended in an amazing way.
Vinx went from this naive, impulsive person to a woman of strength, self-control, and a kick-ass heroine. Here you have the perfect power couple and it had the right amount of bloodshed, action, drama, humor, and an ending that left me satisfied.
And seriously, freakin' Dorian Gray?? Ruthless, to say the least. But this had me on the edge of my seat, it was intense and dark. I am a fan of this series and again, this author has captivated me with her words and the worlds she has created.
If you're a fan of vampires and fantasy, I recommend this series!
Book 1 Some authors find their niche and never vary or stray outside the box. Not Rourke. When she puts pen to paper greatness happens. There isn't a glass ceiling she hasn't shattered in the Indie Book Community. While her signature snark and wit are always a constant; she can write YA, NA, fantasy, paranormal, or rom-com. Rourke is not boxed in and she proves that yet again with Veiled.
In true Rourke fashion, Stacey has wowed fans yet again with her amazing writing. I LOVE that no matter what genre she is writing her signature style is always present. Her badass heroines are inspiring whether they are battling gnomes, facing the demon within, trying to make it down the aisle, or infiltrating a vampire organization.
Quoted as saying she would never write a vampire novel, Rourke has down just that. But unlike sparkly vamps, or blood thirsty hot bar owning vamps, Rourke has brought the story to this century and made a bold political statement. I love how she takes the classic vampire and makes him her own. This is no Bram Stoker retelling. Rourke left me with an ending that had my jaw on the floor and anxiously awaiting more.
Book 2 Dracula has always been sexy and suave in all the books and movies, but Rourke's Dracula is HAWT! Vlad has old school charm, a bit if awkwardness, and is simply swoon worthy. He fills out a three-piece suit like a GQ cover model. (Rarrr)
Rourke weaves in Vlad's backstory seamlessly; and its not the overdone version either. Her version while steeped in history has her own twist.
The wit and snark of Vincenza is ever present in Vlad. She is one of my favorite characters.
Vlad is quite the page turner. I read it in one day! Secrets are revealed to Vincenza. Life altering decisions are made. There's romance! (Did I tell you how HAWT Vlad is?) And the ending!!!!! Hold on to your seats cause hell hath no fury like a scorned woman. ALL HAIL THE QUEEN!
Book 3 This cover is amazing and completely encompasses the ending in the previous book.
Vincenza is the ultimate bad a**! What an ending! Rourke ripped my heart out but made up for it with Vlad's sexiness.
Not your typical vampire story, the Veiled series is an extremely interesting take on vampire lore. Stacey Rourke did an incredible job taking “vampires” and making it her own. I also loved all of the characters and the snarky dialogue between the main character and her friends.
We follow Vincenza, or Vinx for short, as she comes to terms with what she has become and her new role in this dangerous world. Her family brutally murdered, it is only luck that she does not follow in their same fate. Vinx is extremely special and works to integrate herself in the vampire hiarchy. Through this series, she discovers new friends, new enemies, and jaw dropping twists throughout. Pick up the entire complete series today!
Read all three as single books before the boxed set came out. LOVED THEM ALL!
VEILED (Book 1) GREAT STORY!!!! If you love vamps and are looking for a fresh take on an old troupe, then this series is for you! Vinx is a badass and you really need to find out why. I devoured this book and now I'm on to book 2, Vlad, with the same feverish need to find out what happens next.
VLAD (Book 2) OMG!!! I am grabbing Vendetta STAT! Vlad. Vinx. The wedding. Despicable Dorian! Read this series. It's fantastic! I cannot wait to see how this ends. For all you vampire lovers, this is a must-read.
VENDETTA (Book 3) A perfect end to this series but I'm secretly hoping there will be more. BRAVO to Stacey for adding a new take on vamps. This series is not to be missed! <3
When I think about this Veiled series, I think brilliant and intense. Veiled sets up the story, Vlad reveals the history that ties in Veiled, and Vendetta... Well, just wow! What an epic conclusion to this twist on vampiric lore and politics...haha! Stacey Rourke has a knack for creating these intriguing and realistic worlds that readers will fall into.
Stacey Rourke creates different and unique twists in her stories, and she did just that with vampires! This is definitely a "must-read" for those that are fans of vampire stories, then this is a series that one would enjoy getting immersed in.
Just when you think the war is over, it smacks you in the face again. I can’t tell you how often I thought, damn that was genius, Stacey finds a way to rob you of that thought. Carefully weaving a new ending while letting you know you’re just being teased! Carefully and scrupulously concocted into a monster murder mystery and vampire laden dragon tale! I loved this as much as her Gryphon and Death Diggers series.
First time reading this author and I enjoyed this series. The storyline was fast pace with plenty of action. I recommend you get her books and leave your reviews. Thank you for using Kindle Unlimited.
